After dinner, Yaffe goes upstairs to help Wiphy take a bath.
Seeing his tender body sitting in the bathtub designed for children, Yaffe can’t help but feel distressed.
She doesn’t understand what had happened that a child, who was only three years old at the time, was unwilling to speak again.
Seeing Yaffe being silent, Wiphy looks up at her in confusion.
Yaffe takes a wide bath towel and wraps the wet boy up and puts him on her lap.
Then, she uses the other small towel to wipe his hair.
When Wiphy’s hair is almost dry, Yaffe tickles him with her hand.
Wiphy trembles and begins to squirm.
Yaffe stabilizes his small body with one hand and gently tickles his armpits and little feet with the other hand.
Wiphy squirms a few times at first. Then, he suddenly stops moving and looks at Yaffe with a frightened look.
Yaffe realizes his strange state and stops her movement.
Just as she is about to comfort him, she hears Wiphy’s miserable screams.
Downstairs, Quinn and Marco are discussing how to proceed with the inspection later when they hear Wiphy’s scream.
Quinn rushes upstairs.
Wiphy is screaming and his little face is purple. He looks very pained.
“What did you do?” Quinn says coldly and carries Wiphy from Yaffe’s hands.
His cold tone pains Yaffe. But when she looks at Wiphy, she is also worried, “I don’t know what’s going on. He is suddenly like this.”
Quinn glances at her and carries Wiphy back to the room.
“It’s okay. Daddy’s here. Good boy. No one can hurt you, okay?” Quinn hugs Wiphy as he softly comforts him.
His magnetic and lazy voice is even gentler and more charming at this time.
Yaffe looks at Quinn’s back and suppresses the pain in her heart. She quickly cleans up the bathroom.
Under Quinn’s reassurance, Wiphy’s screams gradually weakens. His little face slowly turns from purple to pale. He stops trembling and lets Quinn hold him.
He buries his little face in Quinn’s neck and holds Quinn’s neck tightly with his chubby arms.
Quinn lightly pats his thin and tender back, “Good boy, don’t be afraid. Daddy will always stay with you and won’t let you be alone again.”
Quinn whispers to Wiphy like that for almost an hour before Wiphy falls asleep.
Then, Quinn gently changes him into his pajamas and puts him on his bed.
Marco takes this time to give Wiphy a full body checkup, “The psychological examination will be done when Wiphy calms down. I’ll come over again when there is a result.”
“Thank you.”
“You are welcome, Mr. He. It’s getting late. So, I will be leaving. Goodbye.”
The butler sends Marco away.
Wiphy is asleep and Quinn is sitting by the bedside and staring at him. Yaffe looks at them and says, “I’m sorry. I didn’t know it would be like this.”
Quinn slowly rubs Wiphy’s chubby hand, “Did what I said just now cut you terribly?”
Yaffe doesn’t expect him to ask this and says slowly, “No.”
“After he meets you, he seldom screams. I have thought that he can accept you completely. But it seems that I am wrong.”
“Could it be that my inappropriate movements just now reminded him of something?”
“What did you do?” Quinn becomes serious.
“I just tickled him. At first, he dodged. But then, he started screaming. Is this because he remembers the past, or is he unable to accept the irresistible situation and can only express it by screaming?” Yaffe says seriously.
“We were not with him when he had an accident. After I rushed to the hospital, he just hugged me and cried. From that time on, he couldn’t accept anyone else’s touch and never spoke again.”
“What the hell happened to him?” Yaffe is a little curious.
She thinks that she can figure out what happened today if she knows Wiphy’s accident.
“It’s too late today. You need to rest now and I’ll tell you later. Good night.” Quinn says softly.
Seeing that Quinn has no intention of continuing the conversation, Yaffe says, “Alright. Then I’m going to sleep. Call me if you need any help.”
“OK.”
Yaffe goes out and closes the door. Thinking of how Wiphy looked just now, she is still in a state of shock.
The next day.
Yaffe gets up early in the morning. Lara is preparing breakfast in the kitchen.
Yaffe knocks on the door of Wiphy’s room.
Then she stands in front of the door anxiously and waits.
Soon, there is the sound of footsteps inside. Then, the door to the room is opened, revealing Quinn’s haggard face.
It is obvious that he didn’t rested properly last night.
“You didn’t sleep last night?”
“I slept for a while.”
“How’s Wiphy?”
“He’s emotionally unstable at the moment. You can have breakfast first without waiting for us.”
“Don’t you have to take him to the hospital?”
“It will only cause him to lose control again. He can’t accept psychologically counseling until he’s stable.”
Yaffe nods and goes downstairs for breakfast.
Quinn walks back to Wiphy’s bedside, and Wiphy wakes up in a daze.
Two seconds later, he suddenly sits up. He looks around and doesn’t relax until he sees Quinn.
Quinn sits next to him and says gently, “Are you OK?”
Wiphy doesn’t answer and crawls into Quinn’s arms, hugging him tightly.
Quinn strokes his soft hair and doesn’t push him away.
This little guy is so scared that he clings to Quinn and can’t get away from him.
Quinn comforts Wiphy for a long while before saying, “The headquarters is holding an annual meeting today. I can’t miss it. Are you willing to go with me?”
Wiphy trembles and nods hesitantly.
“Then get up. Wash your face and brush your teeth. We will go after breakfast. Mommy’s waiting for us downstairs.”
Hearing this, Wiphy nuzzles Quinn. No one knows what he’s trying to indicate.
…
Yaffe is discussing with Lara whether to send the breakfast upstairs for them or not, when she sees that Quinn carries Wiphy who is wearing a little yellow duck sweatshirt and goes downstairs.
Yaffe helps Quinn pull out the chair and asks, “What do you and Wiphy want to eat?”
“I’ll have porridge. Please get a yogurt for Wiphy.”
Yaffe gets up and goes to the kitchen to get a warm yogurt that Lara has prepared.
Quinn gives Wiphy a spoon.
Wiphy eats it slowly. He seems to have no intension to leave Quinn’s arms and sit by himself.
Yaffe watches the clock and finds that it is almost time for her to go to work, “Why don’t I take the day off today? You didn’t have a good rest last night.”
“No need. You just go to work. Wiphy only clings to me now. It does not help even if you’re at home.”
He is right. Yaffe thinks about it and says, “Then call me if anything needed.”
After that, Yaffe picks up her bag and leaves.
