“I saw your father’s old wheelchair, did you make it?” Sung asks with his cold tone.
Cooper turns to Wendy, Wendy shows him not to tell. “Yes, I made it myself, your majesty.” He replies. Sung sighs that his wheelchair was not designed by Wendy, or Sunny’s father. This answer surprises him. “Then did you make one for someone three years ago??” Sung keeps checking. “How did you know, Majesty? I did…” Cooper says.
“For whom??” Sung asks with curiosity. Cooper shakes his head, “I don’t know, it’s a woman. She said her man was disabled then begged me to make one for her.” Sung gets lost is in his deep thought, all those memories come back as the flood. How Wendy died and how she treated him as her husband? And how many pinholes she tested on her body for keeping his legs? Those pinholes then transfer to his heart, his heart is full of holes. He stands up tries to move, “Don’t touch me!” San offers to help him while he refuses back.
Wendy has full of tears now, all holding in her eyes. Zhuge sees her expression and sighs, “Silly girl, you are the same as three years ago, despite you changed your looking.” Zhuge thinks. Suddenly, Sung falls, “Your majesty!” Wendy yells out, then runs to him. While San and General Chen have helped him up. “I am fine, let’s prepare to send General Zhu away.” Wendy sits back to her chair, feeling useless and regrets. Cooper holds her hand and tries to give her some supports. “I don’t know how long I could handle this…” Wendy cries. Cooper stands up and grabs her, “We will handle it together. Let’s go!” That’s how people cheer themself up normally. When they feel hopeless, they just see someone’s worse than them. Then they will feel better. Cooper has nothing left here now, while Wendy still gets some close friends and Sung.
General Zhu’s coffin has carried out, and moves towards the cemetery. People start to walk behind with him, with the saddest music in the world. Sung insists to walk by himself, he moves very slow like a turtle. “He’s in pain, I guess.” Wendy thinks, she walks behind him. She doesn’t want to accept she remains loves him, while it’s true. She loves him deeply. She feels unbearable to see Sung walk in agony, she wants to go home. But for her good friend and brother Cooper, she remains stays. She worries he would be faint when he sees his father going under the ground, with his coffin.
“Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. No matter how successful you are, we all bury beneath with the yellow dust.” Cooper turns his face to another side, he doesn’t want to face this. Wendy stands near him, holding his hand. Soon, perhaps, Wendy will go. Cooper feels saddest than ever…
The weather becomes weird the next day, it rains a lot recently. As God mourns for General Zhu. Wendy has moved to Cooper for several days to company him. She goes to the Clinic every day, due to many patients come there, almost every day. Everyone know Zhuge’s place is cheap and honest. He only takes a little fee from people. Every doctor there works so hard, however, Zhuge doesn’t show up a lot in the clinic, he stays with Sung every day. He heard his wounds went bad, from the day he sent General Zhu away.
Wendy finishes her work today and goes back to Cooper. She lays on his bench and chats with him, as they do usually every evening. “You have been here for a long time, why you don’t find someone to marry??” Wendy asks and looks out to the big tree in his garden. Cooper laughs, and cleans his tea set, “I will go back to my world, I don’t want to waste others time here.” Wendy sighs, “Your world, that’s unthinkable you know…”
“Well, you never know what will happen the next day right? Maybe tomorrow when we wake up and we already there.” Cooper offers her a cup of hot tea. Wendy takes it then asks, “Wait, you didn’t tell me how you came here? Well, you don’t need to say it if you don’t want to…”
Cooper drinks his tea, recalling his memories, “Nothing could be worse than us today. It doesn’t matter… Five years ago, I was a clerk in the company, killing my time every day. By reading newspapers or playing Weibo while I work. My boss, he’s super bad shit! He was jealous of me and my girlfriend, then he took her away from me one day. They were having sex and I found them on my bed. And, I remembered I drove out to the highway, full speed, then I hit on a big rock…” He takes another sip of tea and sighs, “When I woke up. I was here… magically!”
“So you came here with your car, too??” Wendy asks, she realizes something, “Maybe there’s a space tunnel, did you try to find it later?” Cooper shakes his head, “No, I came only with my stuff, not my car. I went there to check so many times, and found nothing.”
“And why you knew about how to make a wheelchair? If you were a clerk?” Wendy checks, playing with her teacup.
Copper smiles, “That’s one of my dreams, to be a scientist!” Wendy laughs, “So did you make the first wheelchair, my scientist friend?” Cooper laughs, “Yes! I made the first wheelchair here!” Suddenly, Wendy has a crazy idea run into her head, “My piggy brother, let’s marry! You and I! What do you say?” Her words shock Cooper entirely, he doesn’t know she’s that crazy woman. Wendy always calls him piggy brother, and Cooper gives her a nickname like “Crazy Monkey”.
He shakes his head and refuses, “No fucking way.”
“Really? You think I’m ugly?” Wendy complains. “You are pretty, but not my type!” He finishes his tea and replies. “You better make your Sung not to suspect us, I feel something will go wrong very soon.” Wendy nods, “Well, I have tried to keep my space with him now. I don’t know how they know my real name in the royal palace, most of them! I am an idiot, I shouldn’t come back with the same name!”
“Then why you came back?!” Cooper teases her. “I have to, I must cure Sung’s legs this time. Besides, I worry about him.” Wendy’s face turns red.
“You have to let him go. As a man, do you know how heartbroken it is, to lose your love then lose one more time? All men are fragile, Wendy.” Cooper says. Wendy doesn’t like indulging herself in sadness all night with him, “Whatever, let’s say something else, something fun! I don’t want us to get emotional and behavioral disorders sooner or later.”
“Okay, then when your period comes…” Cooper says with jaunty.
Wendy hits his back, “Stop it! That’s not a good thing for me! It’s rude to ask a girl like this, do you know that?”
Cooper laughs, “It’s good to have period, which means you are healthy! What a lucky thing in our world!” Cooper says, as if he wants to try what is it like when women get period. The same topic starts over again, our world, how they gonna run away with this? The rain drums harder and louder on the roof, the strong wind roars and splashes the windows. It’s a long night, with two lonely people.
