“I hope so” Samson said. “I really thought Jacob Saunders had him.”I confronted him for attacking you. He was humiliated, and knowing him, he always comes back for revenge. That’s why he was my first suspect”
“What do you mean when you say you confronted him?” Isabella asked, “You beat him up, didn’t you?”
“It’s not like he didn’t have it coming. The guy is annoying. You should know that”
Isabella knew, she thought, remembering that she had disliked him immediately when she first met him at the bar. Now she understood why he had told her not to call the cops and now she was glad she didn’t. They wouldn’t have stood a chance against a vampire and if they had gone, they would have come back seriously Hurt. Or maybe even worse.
Isabella leaned closer to him. “So how did you become a vampire?” she asked him.
Samson sighed deeply. “I was Young and crazy and impulsive” he said, “Always willing to try crazy and new things. Anyways, I met this guy who was a vampire. We became friends and when he finally told me what he was, I was intrigued. He made it sound so cool. So good to be true. As a human, when you first find out that vampires are real, you get caught up in the advantages of the whole thing. You get sucked up with the fact that it’s a lot harder to die. You think it would be cool to have supernatural powers. You can mind control people and shit like that, but after a while, you start to see the disadvantages too. Like when you outlive the people you love. When you have to move because you don’t want people to notice that you haven’t aged a day. When you have to Hurt people to survive or when you…. Kill someone because you loose control. Which is what happened to me… I told this vampire friend of mine to turn me. I saw the disadvantage too late and I didn’t have anyone to help me when I turned so I lost control and Hurt and …. Killed some people”
He was sure Isabella would want to leave again especially as he told her about the ‘killing someone’ part, but he was surprised when she said, “Do you hate being a vampire? If you could, would you act differently? Would you have asked him to turn you if you could go back in time?”
“Honestly yes. I would make a different decision if I could go back, but I can’t, so it’s fine. I do not hate being a vampire. It’s just the being lonely part that gets to me. Being unable to find a mate makes it worse”
Isabella was listening intently now. Vanessa had told her this yesterday. That she was his mate. Should she ask him about it?
“At some point in a vampires life, they meet the love of their life” Samson continued, “another vampire that they blood bond with and share their immortal life with. It makes life worth living when you have someone like that in your life. Everyone needs someone. No one should be alone”
“Vanessa told me about it yesterday” Isabella said.
His reaction was swift, and before Isabella could think, she found herself on her back on the bed, with Samson hovering above her.
“She told you?” he asked, “What exactly did she say to you about it?”
“Relax. There’s no need to get mad. Although what she said freaked me out a little. I know all about the mate thing because I have seen and read about it in books and movies, but I was a little freaked about it because,…. Because Vanessa said that I was yours”
Samson closed his eyes and swore. “Damn it, sometimes I want to Kill Vanessa. She talks a lot”
He lay back on the bed and covered his face with his palm. Isabella would surely leave him now. He thought. Why would she want to be stuck with him for the rest of her life, plus, she was human. It would never last, and he was sure that she would never want to be a vampire, not that he was going to force her to be one. He couldn’t be that selfish with her.
“I don’t think that Vanessa is right” Isabella said softly. “I’m not a vampire and I don’t think I’m ever going to be one”
Samson removed his hands. “Yeah sure” he said, unable to hide the disappointment clearly written on his face. “I’m not going to try to make you do anything like that.” he hesitated, then added. “I still want you to stay though. For now… Until I find George. Just to make sure that you are safe”
“Is that the only reason why you want me around?” asked Isabella.
Samson shook his head, “No. That’s not the only reason. I like having you around. It makes me happy, so stay…. please”
She couldn’t say no even if she wanted to, but honestly, she didn’t want to.
“But I have school and work…. And my friends.”
“That can be handled” Samson replied, “You would be surprised by the favors you could get at school and work when you are dating a vampire. This is where the compulsion comes in. As for your friends, they can come visit you here… Anytime they want. So please, will you stay? Say yes”
“Yes, Samson. I will stay” Isabella said, as she rose so she could balance on her elbows and planted a deep Kiss on his lips.
“What about your family?” Samson asked her. “Do you have anyone apart from your friends here?”
“No I don’t.” Isabella replied, “I had my father growing up, I rarely saw him and as I grew up he stopped coming around. I haven’t seen him years and I honestly don’t want to”
“Oh. Would you like to talk about it?” Samson asked.
Isabella lay back on the bed. “Hell no” she replied. “He left me and I would like it to remain that way”

George Grey knelt on the floor. His hair was wet and messy with sweat and dirt, and his clothes had been reduced to rags. The cell in which he was kept was filty and smelt horrible. A chain attached to a collar was around his neck and he couldn’t even move around because the chain was attached to wall.
