Samson didn’t hesitate this time, and since he was very fast, Mark was unable to stop him. He charged at Jacob, pushing and slamming him against the wall. He pinned Jacob to the wall, throttling him with his left hand, and using his right, he drove the stake deep into his stomach, making Jacob scream in pain. Then he leaned forward and whispered in his ear.
“If you Hurt her in any way, the next stake will be driven into your heart. And I mean every word I just said”
With that, he released him, turned around and headed for the exit, leaving everyone in the bar in shock at what had just happened.
————–
“So….. Are you going to tell us what that was all about, or are we going to have to just act like nothing happened?” Mark asked Samson as they drove away from Joe’s bar, while Raymond just giggled at the back seat like the situation was so funny to him.
Samson ignored Mark’s question, and focused on taking off his bloody shirt. He had sustained some injuries from the fight and although his wounds had healed up, his shirt was still crumpled, messed up and stained with both his blood and that of Jacob’s.
“I asked you a question, dude” Mark repeated, raising his voice slightly, “You do not get to ignore me, Samson. I’m not going to let that happen. You brought us here without letting us know what you had in mind, and you almost killed Saunders. Do you know what kind of trouble that shit would have cost if I hadn’t stopped you when I did. And all because of a human you met last night? What the hell, Samson? Don’t you dare ignore me? Why the hell did you do that?”
“He attacked her, man” Samson yelled, slamming a fist on the glove compartment. “I was talking to her at the bar and he came to sit with me. A piece of glass cut her on the hand and he probably picked up her scent and decided to stalk her”
“And so?” Raymond cut in, “he tried to feed on her. She’s human. He’s a vampire. That’s what vampires do, Samson. We feed on humans, so why are you getting so worked up. What makes this human so special to you”
“Yeah why?” piqued Mark
“She’s not… She’s not special to me” Samson replied, suddenly feeling uncomfortable. He hadn’t thought about why he felt this uncontrollable need to protect that human. He had just felt that way and just went with his instincts. Now that he thought about it, he suddenly felt uncomfortable.” I just felt responsible for her. Jacob wouldn’t have attacked her if I didn’t distract her, which was probably why she cut herself. He might have even killed her. You know how he is. You know what, I don’t have to explain myself to you guys. I’m grateful that you had my back but Saunders had it coming. He’s an asshole and he deserved what he got. So can you guys not ask me any more questions please? Thank you”
Mark and Raymond glanced at each other through the rear view mirror, but they knew Samson well enough to know that he didn’t talk about anything unless he wanted to, so they let him be.

Isabella hurried out of the bar and gently closed the door behind her. Her shift was over for the day and she couldn’t wait to get home so she could get some rest. At least today it hadn’t rained, she thought as she stared at the sky and took a deep breath. But that didn’t mean that she shouldn’t hurry home as it was already getting late. Some shots of vodka would knock her right out and help her get some sleep. She was looking forward to that.
She swung her handbag on her shoulder and she had just taken a few steps into the parking lot when she heard someone call her name. She didn’t even need to turn around to know who it was because she recognized the voice alright.
The voice belonged to certain man that had occupied her thoughts for the past week. The man who had flirted with her at the bar, kissed the shit out of her, and then proceeded not to give a fuck about her for the entire week. She wanted to smack herself for letting him get into her head this way, but the situation could not be helped. She had finally come to terms with the fact that the man wasn’t interested and had just kissed her for the fun of it. A part of her even hoped that she wouldn’t see him again. Now what the fuck was he doing here?
She risked a glance at his direction and instantly regretted it. He looked amazing. Even better than he had that night they met. He looked like he had just come from an important business meeting, she thought as her eyes took in the expensive cut and midnight blue sheen of his tux… A tux that was exquisitely cut and a perfect match for his suave manners.
He smiled at her and Isabella felt like she suddenly had butterflies in her stomach. But hell, she wasn’t going to let him know just how his presence alone affected her, so she responded with a little wave in his direction and kept moving.
She didn’t get to go far though, because somehow he was beside her in an instant, walking with her. That was weird, she thought. How the hell did he move so fast? She didn’t have much time to think about that because he said :
“Good evening, Belle. Bad day?”
Isabella swallowed. Belle? She liked the sound of that, especially coming from him, but since she was determined not to act like she cared, she didn’t stop walking but she replied, “No, just a normal day”
He kept walking with her. “Ermmm… Are you going to stop walking so we can have a conversation?” he said. His voice shook slightly, making it obvious that he was trying hard not to laugh, and failing woefully.
It made Isabella want to punch him in the face. Not only had he ignored her till now, but he was also mocking her. The nerve of the guy! She knew that she shouldn’t feel this way. It wasn’t like he had promised to call her or anything like that, but this was just the way she felt and she couldn’t help it.
