I scoffed. “Does it look like I am okay?” I almost screamed at him. “Thanks for standing up for me there.” I smiled at him a little.
“It was the right thing to do. She was insulting you and my kids. I couldn’t just stand there and do nothing. Both of you are my responsibility.” He smiled back at me.
“I didn’t know Melissa was like that though. She had always been nice until the day she decided to lie against me.”
“Lie against you?’ Tyler raised a brow and looked down at me.
“Don’t worry about it.”
“I will let that go for now, but don’t expect me to forget about it.”
“You are going to forget about it, trust me.”
He shook his head and chuckled, then he frowned.
“What?”
“I just hope she isn’t going to hurt you.”
“Hurt me?” I looked at him. What was he talking about?
Tyler walked closer to me, and squatted. “Look, when I was in college, I was dating Melissa, like really dating. She is the only one I had something with until you. She insulted an innocent girl that was only asking me for my English note. I defended the girl saying she was only asking for a note, and I denied any accusations she made against her. Melissa thought I liked the girl, so she became a pain in the ass to the girl.” He said in one breath.
“Wow, she is really mean.”
“But she always wasn’t like that, and I don’t know what changed. After she did that, I broke up with her and cut ties with her.”
“So, why did you hire her as your secretary?”
“Business between my parents and her parents. And she insisted she was secretary if not her dad wouldn’t sign the contract. And that contract was really important, but I don’t care anymore if she tells her parents I fired her.”
“Don’t worry, you will be fine.”
He held my cheeks and smiled at me. “Yeah. You and my kids are more important now.”
His palm was so warm, and I wished he could keep rubbing my cheeks with his thumb forever. What is going on with me?

“I wonder why you were sleeping with her.” I mumbled after he released my cheeks, but he heard me.
“Is that jealousy I smell there? ”
My eyes widened, and I looked up to see him smirking. “No! You wish.” I hit his arm playfully.
“It’s time to go back to work.” I groaned again. “You are the one that said you wanted to work, isn’t it?”
“That was the Techna in the morning…”
“Yeah, can we go out now?” He stood up and stretched out his hand. I held it, and he pulled me up. I walked towards the sink and cleaned my face.
“Let’s go.”

It was already four in the afternoon, and I was ready to go home. I knew Tyler would still stay back at work and come back home around eight. So I decided to leave for home, since I was done.
As I pulled my bag up ready to leave, I saw a rose under it and a note beside it.
I took the rose, and opened the note. Who sent me this? There wasn’t even a name. I finished reading the note, and I realized that my palms were sweating.
The note fell from my hand as I grabbed the table. Who the hell sent that? My heart kept beating faster.
