Chapter 26: FINDING THE CULPRIT

Book:MATED TO THE LYCAN Published:2024-6-2

Jefferson watched as the wolf landed and howled in pain as its spinal cord was broken by his punch.
Soon the wolf stood on its fours again as the spinal cord had healed in a matter of seconds.
Jefferson knew he hadn’t trashed the wolf enough that was why it hadn’t transformed back to its human form.
This time he planned to trash it till it transforms back. All thanks to the wolf his anger was beginning to fade away as the wolf served as his punching bag. He had to thank the wolf for its service later.
Jefferson smiled and pushed this thought to the back of his mind. He disappeared from the spot and appeared in front of the werewolf.
This time the reaction of the werewolf was a little faster than before. So when Jefferson appeared in its front it swiped its claws across Jefferson’s face forcing Jefferson to move back a little.
Using that chance the wolf jumped high and swiped at his back. Though the wolf was fast. Jefferson was faster, so he dodged the claws while turning around at the same time and punched the wolf in its abdomen sending it flying.
Before the wolf could land Jefferson appeared before it and punched it again which sent it flying further.
Before anyone could say anything Jefferson was already in front of it and kicked it so it was sent flying even further.
Before the wolf could land Jefferson appeared behind it and rained a series of punches on the wolf sending it flying back to the front.
He appeared to the front of the wolf again and rained another series of punches on it. After that, he appeared behind its rained punches and kicks on it before appearing in its front again.
This went on for about a minute or so.
Jefferson’s actions were so fast that it looked like the wolf was suspended in the air and was receiving punches and kicks.
With each punch and kicks, the wolf howled in pain and a cracking sound would be heard.
It was an enormous torture for the wolf.
Immediately Jefferson stopped. The wolf landed heavily on the floor and immediately transformed back to his human form.
Jefferson smiled satisfactorily when he saw the wolf transform back to its human form sprawled on the floor weakly.
He walked towards the figure and squatted before the figure.
“Thanks for acting as my punching bag. I gave you the chance to escape but you decided to challenge me. Anyway, tell this to your pack leader.”
“I Jefferson had declared a war between our packs and none would stop until one is exterminated.”
“I’m sure you got the information of me not being in the pack from an insider of the pack then you decided to attack. Don’t worry I’ll send the person to hell and you’ll go join him not to worry much.” Jefferson smiled.
grabbing the man’s neck he lifted him, walked some distance and threw him far away.
A loud crashing sound was heard as something crashed heavily onto something. It was the figure Jefferson had thrown just now. He had crashed into the gate of the pack.
The female figure who had been watching the fight all this while had her mouth wide open in shock. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Though she had always known that their Alpha was the strongest. she had never seen him in action until today.
Even without transforming into his Lycanthrope form, he was strong and fast.
She couldn’t help but gasp as she watched how their Alpha trashed the figure mid-air. She felt it was cool and amazing.
The way the Alpha had sent the figure out of the pack was also amazing to her. She couldn’t help but wish she was the one mated to the Alpha.
Jefferson looked at the six figures on the floor and sighed. He was very grateful for their actions.
They had risked their lives to protect his mate and he was very grateful.
Walking to the female figure who was watching the scene all this while and smiled.
“Give her to me. You go call the other pack members and ask them to assemble at the conveying ground while you get some to take these six to the hospital. Also, get some to take the dead bodies of the guards and the injured ones to the hospital.” He said carrying DeLorna from the back.
Immediately, the female figure nodded and rushed towards the safe house to do as Jefferson had ordered.
Jefferson carried DeLorna in a bridal style and looked into her eyes while smiling.
He was happy there were not many casualties or else he wouldn’t know what to do.
He walked toward his mansion with a smile etched on his face. It was already noon so the sun was shining brightly.
Jefferson could not help but stare at DeLorna’s face as he carried her.
Everything and everywhere was already a mess. There were broken street lights, dented iron poles. Dents on the road and other visible damage caused by the fight.
But Jefferson could care less about all this. He was rich enough to get it repaired within a day.
Getting to the mansion. Jefferson went straight to his room and placed DeLorna on the bed carefully.
He smiled looking at her sleeping face. There was a smile etched on the beautiful face of hers.
Jefferson couldn’t help but stare at the face before staring at the lips.
The lips were pink and had a special fragrance to them that felt alluring in a special kind of way to Jefferson.
He couldn’t help but move his lips closer to hers.
As he was just an inch away from her. DeLorna suddenly opened her eyes and tried to sit up but her lips met with Jefferson’s lips.
DeLorna didn’t know how long she had slept and opened her eyes slowly. She noticed she was lying on something soft. Perhaps a bed. She wondered who brought her in as the last thing she remembered was going unconscious after mind-linking Jefferson.
She didn’t notice a lip an inch away from her lip and immediately tried to sit up.
immediately she tried to sit up, her lips collided with another lip. Instantly she wanted to withdraw but before she could withdraw the lips had already begun to kiss her taking advantage of her shocking moment.
Immediately she used her hands to try to push the figure away only to discover it was her mate.
Noticing this she immediately reciprocated the kiss.
Jefferson was a little surprised when DeLorna opened her eyes and sat up and their lips met. He took advantage of her shock and kissed her but at first, she didn’t reciprocate and wanted to push him away. But suddenly she stopped and reciprocated the kiss.
The kiss lasted for about a minute or so before they separated. This kiss didn’t raise any heat in the both of them as it was that of pure love.
After separating DeLorna looked at Jefferson with questioning eyes.
“It’s okay dear. There weren’t many casualties in the pack as it was minimal,” Jefferson smiled.
DeLorna nodded and didn’t say anything.
“How did the wolves know that you weren’t around?” She asked.
“It was one of the pack members who would leak that information. Though they would have never expected you to mind linking me and tell me about the situation. But don’t worry we’ll soon find out who the culprit is,” Jefferson sighed softly.
“I’m going to the convention ground. I ought to have some talk with the pack members on what happened.” Jason said getting up.
“Can’t I tag along?” DeLorna narrowed her eyes looking at Jefferson.
“Yeah you can,” Jefferson smiled.
Immediately, DeLorna stood up from the bed but immediately fell back as soon as she stood up. Her legs had given way and weren’t supporting her.
“I’m sorry you should just rest,” Jefferson smiled at DeLorna and tucked her into the bed while he cuddled her to sleep.
Soon, DeLorna slept off in a matter of minutes.
Jefferson sighed and stood up going out of the room to the conveying ground.
The conveying ground was located on the western side of the pack.
The place looked more like a hall than an assembly ground. There were chairs that exceeded the number of members in the pack.
Getting to the conveying ground, Jefferson met all of the pack members sitting and waiting for him to come. The only ones who weren’t present were the dead ones and the ones he instructed to take to the hospital.
Immediately Jefferson walked into the conveying ground everywhere and became silent. it was so silent that the dropping of a needle would be heard.
Jefferson sighed and walked towards the podium.
Getting on the podium Jefferson looked around at the nervous faces of the members of the pack and smiled.
He knew they were eager to hear what he was about to say. but in truth, Jefferson didn’t know what to say and just smiled.
After some minutes he cleared his throat and started.
“I’m sure we are all victims of the panic caused by the wolves. I apologize to the pack for not being around in time to curb the attack,” Jefferson stated.
“My condolences to the family of the deceased one and the injured.” He continued.
Immediately, gasp spread around the pack. Jefferson waited till the sound died down. He didn’t know why the pack members were in a shock with the news as he knew that they would have heard of the death.
“The most important matter at hand is how the wolves knew that I was not in the pack and that my sister is also not in the pack,” Jefferson said furrowing his brows while observing some of the pack’s members he felt were suspicious.
Immediately, gasps spread around the crowd. None of them had thought of it that way, not until the Alpha said it.
Though it could be luck. But he guessed it wasn’t luck. There was no way they would be lucky to attack at a time when he and his sister were not in the pack.
Jefferson continued to observe the expression of the pack members to see if he would catch any minute changes of shock in any of them.
“Also before I forget I’ll like to thank you all for protecting my mate. I’m very grateful.” He said.
Hearing his statement, the pack members nodded. They knew that they had made their Alpha happy and he was thanking them thus they were very happy about his words of thanks.
Jefferson watched as the pack members discussed amongst themselves.
He kept on observing every person. He was sure that the culprit was amongst them.
He kept on looking at the pack members hoping to catch the culprit just by staring.
There was no way to catch the preparator for the situation who was mixed with people that were over two hundred just by looking around. He had to employ a method that made it effective or else he would end up accusing the innocent who knew nothing about the matter and let the real culprit get away.
He didn’t want to fall into a situation where he would accuse an innocent person thereby letting the main culprit away.
But what could he do to fish out the culprit?
He started racking his brain thinking of the best way to make the culprit show himself.
Was it even possible? he asked himself.
He couldn’t go about questioning the gaze of over a hundred people. His head would burst if he tried to accumulate that kind of information.
There must be some way to do this fast and effectively.
But the correct way to fish out the culprit was what he didn’t know. He needed help at this moment.
Suddenly he thought of using his aura to suppress everyone in the pack so it’ll force the culprit to talk.
But some are too stubborn and would refuse to answer.
