Chapter 11: DOUBT

Book:MATED TO THE LYCAN Published:2024-6-2

DeLorna who couldn’t breathe well because of the murderous intent suddenly felt it disperse and she gasped for breath.
She looked by her side and noticed that the female was at the edge of the bed. The figure had red hair flowing down her back like a peaceful lake. Her face was flawless and there were some traces of water on it. Her blue eyes shone brightly.
The figure looked like Jefferson. The resemblance was obvious that she guessed right away that the figure that had been talking to her all along was her mate’s sister. Though she had already thought so she wasn’t sure and was just speculating.
She looked over to the door and saw Jefferson standing by the door looking at his sister.
Jefferson, who had cut off the mind link after telling his mate he would be back soon, suddenly frowned. He could sense danger. Though the feeling was strong he felt something was wrong but decided to ignore the feeling. After some minutes the feeling came back. This time he couldn’t endure it and stood up abruptly from where he sat.
“Am leaving.” He said hurriedly much to the shock of others.
Though he wasn’t the leader none of the people present had the mind to stop him as he was the strongest at the gathering and could do as he wished so none of them minded stopping him.
He could hear their distant whispering in the satisfied superspeedway.
Getting to the pack perceived a murderous intent in the air and frowned.
He knew to who the murderous aura belonged. It belonged to his sister.
She might look like a little harmless sheep but in truth, she was more deadly than a viper. He wondered who had pissed her off for her to reveal such an aura.
Instantly he thought of his mate. He knew his sister hated the human he had brought back home as his mate. He knew his sister didn’t hate humans but wondered why she hated his mate even without seeing her.
He was sure that she would have knocked out the guards he placed outside his room when he was going out once they refused to allow her in.
Thinking of this he sped to his room. Getting to the corridor the aura was even greater here and per his guess, the two guards were lying outside the room unconscious on the floor.
He could hear the rapid breathing of his mate as the aura of his sister was suffocating her.
Immediately he barged into the room and stopped his sister by calling her name at the same time switching on the light of the bedroom as it was dark.
“Sis, what are you doing?” Jefferson asked with a depressed look.
Abigail smiled and walked toward Jefferson. “Was just talking to your mate.” She replied.
“Then what was the Murderous intent all about then?” Jefferson frowned.
“Jeff, you see I was Kinda pissed off and released it mistakenly,” Abigail replied.
“I’ll be leaving you two alone.” She continued walking out of the room and closed the door behind her.
Jefferson sighed and walked closer to DeLorna who was shivering on a spot. He knew the murderous intent his sister had revealed was too much for her to take in and was now very afraid.
“I apologize on behalf of my sister. She didn’t mean to and would never hurt you,” Jefferson said, trying to calm DeLorna down.
“Why does she hate me so much that she wants to kill me on our first meeting? Is it because I’m a human?” DeLorna who was shivering in fear managed to ask as she recovered slightly from the trauma.
Jefferson sighed at her question. “It’s not because you are a human. But that’s how my sister behaves anytime she sees a human. Don’t worry she’s very nice and is sure she likes you sooner or later. Also, she has a lot of human friends,” Jefferson replied.
“Is it true you are cursed?” DeLorna suddenly asked.
Immediately Jefferson frowned. His sister had mentioned this to his mate. What the hell was she thinking before she told his mate that he was cursed?
His sister had always believed that he was cursed never to find his mate. But he had always tried to tell her he wasn’t cursed. It was just that the moon goddess hadn’t given him a mate.
“Is it true?” Jefferson heard DeLorna’s timid voice asking again.
Jefferson sighed and didn’t know what to say.
“Am not cursed. It’s just that my sister believed that I was cursed because I hadn’t found you. So if she told you I am cursed it is not true,” Jefferson replied.
DeLorna shook her head in understanding. “Could you tell me more about curses?” She asked.
“You see there are different types of curses that do befall us supernatural. It’s either once we offend the moon goddess and she uses it as a punishment or if the person was cursed right from birth or was destined to be cursed,” Jefferson replied.
“Don’t worry once you are okay I’ll take you to the library of the pack so you’ll read more about curses.” He continued.
DeLorna who was shivering nodded and looked at Jefferson.
“I want to go home.” She suddenly said startling Jefferson.
“Go home!” Jefferson frowned.
“Yeah home,” DeLorna replied.
Instantly Jefferson was thrown into a dilemma. He wondered about the cause of her sudden decision of wanting to go home.
“Is it because of my sister you want to go back home?” He asked the question in his mind.
“No, it’s entirely for a whole different reason,” DeLorna replied.
“Tell me what it is?” Jefferson replied.
“It’s nothing much,” DeLorna replied, not wanting to tell him about her dream.
“You can tell me. Don’t worry no matter your reason I’ll allow you to go,” Jefferson smiled and caressed her hair affectionately.
DeLorna sighed and recounted her dream to Jefferson without omitting a detail.
Jefferson found DeLorna’s reason for wanting to go home rather absurd so he said.
“Dreams are nothing but that which represents your inner fears.” He smiled as he explained to her.
“So you’ve dreamt of your inner fears. The thought of you not giving your mum the final piety still bothers you.” He continued.
“Don’t worry you’ll go once it’s daybreak,” Jefferson said.
Immediately DeLorna smiled and hugged him happily. She didn’t expect that he would agree easily. She could not wait for dawn to arrive as she was excited. But what bothered her was whether her mother would accommodate her or send her away.
