He did not know anything about the werewolves, they had no features or characteristics that attracted him and so he did not care to know about them.
“No.” She replied.
He knotted his brows. Why will they put so much responsibilities on the shoulders of such a young girl if they were alive? He was puzzled.
“Sick?” He asked.
That was the only reason he could think of.
“No.” She replied.
“Traveled?” He asked again.
“Yes, permanently relocated.” She replied.
“Why? To where?” He asked curiously.
“She had a mate, a lycan. She left to be with him.” She replied again.
“Your father?” He asked.
“Dead. I was told.” She replied.
“I’m sorry.” He consoled her.
She nodded. She looked at him.
“Your turn.” She said softly.
“I am Mark, an Angel and leader of the guardians of Angels.” He explained.
“Who are they?” She asked.
He knotted his brows.
“Who?” He asked.
” The guardians of Angels.” She replied.
“My brothers.” He replied to her previous question.
“The firstborn?” She asked again.
“No. The chosen one.” He replied to her.
She nodded slowly.
“Who is Gwen then? Your mother?” She asked.
He laughed loudly.
“No. Jeff’s mate.” He replied to her.
“She is not an Angel.” She noted.
“I know, she is a fairy.” He answered her.
“What am I doing here? How did I get here?”. She asked.
He did not respond. It was hard for him to say it. What if she does not like him? What if she refuses him? He was puzzled about whether to tell her or not. He thought real and hard and he concluded that he will have to tell her now, she will eventually find out anyway.
“I brought you here.” He answered her long-asked question.
He looked at her face, to catch any negative expression and he will never tell her.
“Why?” She asked.
“Because… Because… You… You are my mate.” He said.
She sat silently for a moment. She did not know what to say to that, she was not yet eighteen. She was a werewolf and werewolves find their mates at eighteen years.
“I am not yet eighteen. I should not have a mate right now.” She explained.
“I know.” He replied.
She was silent again.
“How did you know… That I am your mate?” She asked.
She was sceptical about the whole mate story.
“I could feel it. I felt free.” He replied.
“From what?” She asked, curious now.
“A curse.” He replied.
She was interested now, how can feeling free from a curse mean that she was his mate?
“What curse?” She was extremely curious now.
He did not speak anymore. He did not want to speak, it was a bitter past he did not want to relive. He stood up and went towards the door but she stood up too.
“I asked you a question.” She spoke.
He stopped. He did not turn around to her, he continued walking to school the door and stopped when he opened it.
“I will tell you, not today Kiara.” He said and he went out of the room.
She could not go after him, she longed to do so, and she needed answers. She did not understand his theory. But she could not, the door was locked and she knew she would not be able to open it. She sat back on the bed, she was confused. Just then, Sarah came into the room and Kiara wondered how the human girl could open the door and she could not. The girl came and bowed before her.
“The Lady Gwen seeks your presence for an afternoon tea with her in the garden,” Sarah said.
Good, Gwen would know something. She was Jeff’s mate and he must have told her something. Kiara rose and told Sarah to lead the way and the girl did. They took several turns like always and they came to another mighty door, the girl opened it and Kiara stepped out. The garden was large and beautiful. There were different kinds of plants and flowers, it was a safe haven for birds and Kiara could hear the birds chirping. The sun was bright but not scorching and the human girl led Kiara to where Gwen was.
Gwen was sitting on a chair and there was another chair opposite hers and a table in the middle of both chairs. On the table were a teapot, two tea cups and two teaspoons. Gwen rose when Kiara was there and both women hugged. Gwen sat down and Kiara did too, the human girl came and took the teapot and poured the content into the tea cups and kept it back, she bowed then left.
“I am glad you agreed to join me,” Gwen spoke once the girl left.
Kiara smiled and took the cup and sipped from it. It tasted good and delicious and she unconsciously moaned.
“I am glad you like it, it is a herb I got from my mother,” Gwen spoke again.
Kiara figured she had been quiet.
“Oh, I love it, Gwen. It is delicious.” She spoke.
She sipped the tea again.
“Tell me, Gwen, for how long have you been mated with Jeff?” Kiara asked.
She wanted to create a conversation that will lead to her question.
“Oh Kiara, it’s been only recently. But we love each other so much.” Gwen spoke.
Kiara nodded. Certainly, Jeff must have told her something.
“And you’re a fairy?” Kiara asked again.
“Oh yes. A light fairy to be precise.” Gwen spoke again.
Kiara just kept nodding.
“So did Jeff mention a curse to you?” Kiara asked, hoping the woman would have something to say.
“Oh yes, dear, the curse of the fairies on the guardians of the Angels. It’s crazy and creepy.” Gwen said and laughed.
Kiara laughed too.
“So what happened?” Kiara asked again.
The woman kept her cup down and Kiara knew it will be a long talk. But she was disappointed.
“Mark did not tell you?” Gwen asked.
