Lucian woke up the next day and went to Raphael’s house. Raphael’s wife welcomed him warmly and sent a servant to inform Raphael of Lucian’s arrival. The servant came back, Raphael asked Lucian to come up to his library and Lucian headed there Immediately, with the servant leading.
Lucian got to the library door and excused the servant and knocked. A response came in from the other side of the door.
“Come in.”
Lucian went into the room. The man was sitting on the chair, reading a book. He kept the book away when Lucian came in.
“Ah, you have come to visit this old man.”
Lucian laughed. The man was only old with age but looked extremely young. He was a lycan after all.
“Have a seat.”
Lucian sat on the chair opposite the man.
“Why have you come, son?”
Raphael asked. He was looking at Lucian keenly.
“I want to know when the war will start.”
Lucian said and the man laughed heartily.
“Patience son. I have always told you, patience.”
The man laughed again and shook his head. Lucian nodded slowly.
“I only came to know when the war will start but since you won’t give me information, I shall be on my way.”
Lucian rose.
“Farewell son.”
Lucian walked out of the door and left the house in anger.
After Lucian left Raphael’s house, he headed to the werewolf’s territory. He had to tell Alexia about his decision. He would not be gone for too long, he will be back as soon as possible to get started with the plan.
He arrived at the werewolf’s territory and he met Alexia. He arrived at night and she was in the dining hall when he came, ready for dinner. She was dressed up in her usual black cotton flowing gown. Lucian concluded now that the lady just likes black. He came in and joined her at the table. They ate in silence.
When they were done with dinner, she stood up and walked to her room with Lucian following her closely. When she opened the door and went into her room, she left it open for him too. He came in moments later and locked the door behind him and sat on the bed. She was sitting on the bed too and he sat next to her. They sat like that in silence for some time.
“I agreed to do it.”
He finally broke the silence. She looked at him in surprise. She thought he would never agree to it since it was his father. She did not respond.
“I agreed to kill my father.”
He continued and she placed a hand on his back for comfort. She did not respond again.
“Can you imagine that the Lycans had to hide from my father?”
He buried his face in his palms. He was devastated. Alexia continued rubbing his back for comfort. She was surprised that he only knew things now.
“We will go to the witches tomorrow. To see if you will succeed. Will you be able to come with me?”
She spoke for the first time and Lucian nodded. He wanted to know too. They have stayed in that position, Lucian’s face buried in his palms and Alexia sitting beside him, rubbing his back. They were like that for a long time before Alexia asked Lucian to go and freshen up. He did. She went in after him and when she came out, they slept on the bed, Lucian taking in her scent and she holding onto him, cuddling. They slept that night peacefully.
The next day, very early in the morning, Lucian and Alexia stood in front of the woods. They had not transformed yet, and it was a long journey to the witches’ territory.
“Hop on my back when I transform.”
Lucian spoke up and Alexia looked at him. She had seen his lycan form twice and she wanted to see it again. She nodded and he told her to stand back. She took some steps back and he started transforming. His hair grew longer, his claws came out and so did his fangs. His eyes were not different from his normal eyes now, a deep shade of black. He was tall and huge. Alexia looked with awe. He growled loudly and Alexia shuddered back.
“How in the goddess name am I supposed to climb all the way up to your back? You are huge!”
Alexia yelled. She did not expect what came next. The lycan reached out to her and held her, he threw her backwards and she fell on his back. She was screaming and when she landed on his back, she held on. The lycan growled again and started running. He was running faster than she would have and she held on tight. Without opening her eyes, Alexia was enjoying the wind on her face. It always calmed her down.
By evening, they had arrived at the witches’ territory. A journey that would have taken two or three days, the lycan prince covered it in a day. Alexia marvelled but she was happy and proud. A strong mate. They arrived and Lucian changed back to his human form. He didn’t seem tired and Alexia could not believe it.
It was Alexia’s first time in the witches’ territory and it looked beautiful, even in the dark. It was dark but the houses had lights in them and outside them. The houses were decorated beautifully and at the end of the buildings, she could see a tall building, a mansion. Alexia concluded that that must be the witch queen’s house. She started walking but Lucian held her arm.
“Where are you going?”
Lucian asked in a hushed tone.
“To the big house over there.”
She equally replied in a hushed tone and pointed towards the big house. Lucian went quiet, looking around. The place was too quiet like there was no one living there. He could smell danger. Alexia took her arm out of Lucian’s grip.
