“I know. I know.” He utters his eyes wet as he opens them to meet mine. He peers up at the sky and he sends them a tender smile of delight. Their presence that cocoon us, their adoration for him cannot be put into words. They were waiting, they were yearning for their male to come to see them. Deimos and his parents shall finally be at peace.
Our meeting with his parents went better than we had anticipated, we wished they would show their presence but we did not expect it for it was up to nature to decide. Nature gives life and it takes it back as it pleases, therefore it allowed them their wish to gift Kal and us.
We spent time by the tombstones until the sun bled and darkness took over. Deimos had a wonderful time speaking of our meeting and our growth over the past years. Kal had his fun climbing over the tombstones, crawling from Deimos’s father to his mother back and forth over and over.
No pain or sadness captured us only laughter and peace. He spoke everything he had kept deep in fear to share, he cleared his heart completely until he had none to say. He spoke and spoke until only silence was left to take control.
Before we left Deimos placed the bouquet on his mother’s tomb promising he will visit again every year along with Kal and me. I knew that this promise he shall hold dear to him for things are different now. He is not alone anymore but he has his biggest supporters. Kal and me.
“Elriam, can you hold onto Kal. My bladder feels as though it is about to burst.” I chuckle as I rush towards my house eager to ease the tension of my core.
“Of course, Alpha.” She is startled by my suddenness yet quickly grabs him from my arms following closely behind.
“How was your meeting with his parents?” Elriam queries softly from behind me.
“It was beautiful, Elriam. They came to see us as well, their aura was powerful yet welcoming and comforting. I am glad Deimos got his closure.” I reply. It is natural for wolves who are with the moon to come to visit when their loved ones are near to where they lay.
“What is this leaf that Kal possesses?” She inquires with confusion.
“It is a gift from his grandparents.” I answer whilst savouring the feeling of release. I controlled it the entire day and did not wish to dirty the place by peeing on their land where their bodies rest.
“Shall I put it by his crib?”
“That would be wonderful. Thank you, Elriam. Has the pack settled for dinner?” I question whilst washing my face with warm water, tiredness was quick to take over my flesh. Today was a day well spent as a family.
“Yes. I came to fetch Alpha Deimos and you.” She replies, the sound of her feet padding towards Kal’s crib reaches my ears as I pull open the door and peer at her. “I must go to the castle and bring Alpha.”
“He was on a call with Phobos. There is a chance he has already arrived there, which means we must hurry. The pups must be moaning with hunger by now. I changed Kal in the car so he is clean.” A low sigh of relief passes through my lips. Knowing that Deimos’s soul is finally at rest brings the same feeling for me as well.
“Yes, Alpha.” She bows adhering to my words.
Sauntering into the noisy dining hall has my females rise from my table to embrace my arrival. They are delighted that I had finally gotten to introduce myself to the previous Alpha and Luna. It is a good occasion, therefore, they had cooked an enormous feast to celebrate. They have enhanced the table I built with scented candles and dishes I adore. My seat is wrapped with red silk a sign of victory and peace.
Kal remains calmly upon my hip sucking on his thumb eyes seeking for his father just like mine are. Deimos rests by his table far from mine and as always he offers me a beaming smile and a brief nod waiting patiently for me to take my seat. It is as though he is questioning me if I like it in terms of how my table looks.
“Alpha Deimos arranged this. He instructed us to decorate your table and serve your favourite dishes for today was a good occasion.” One of my female’s whispers by my side.
“Did he now?” I ask with a chortle meeting his confused emeralds as he regards me with a frown and tilt of his head. The empty cold seat to his right beckons me, to be filled with my warmth. Vines from the seat emerge crawling towards me wrapping around my flesh propelling me towards it.
“Kal what do you say we go sit with papa from today? Would you like that?” I propose murmuring into his ear as he grins widely with glee. I have my answer.
Taking a heavy inward breath with one final glance at my table that I had built to deprive myself of his soul I stride with courage to where he sits. The pack is swift to stop their chatter curious eyes watch with anticipation of my antics, they stand and make way for me to fill my rightful place. It would be quite the sight to see, a queen walking to her throne.
Deimos’s eyes widen as he gawks puzzled at my emerging closeness to him. The air within the room manifests from a strikingly cold one to rumbling unbearable heat. A welcoming heat, one that keeps warm not burns.
Each steady step I take towards his direction has him rise rapidly chair screeching rearward upon the tiles, he understands the meaning of my action yet he refuses to believe it is happening. He refuses to see the truth that unfolds in front of his eyes.
Pulling back the chair at his right that had always been pushed in never touched, never occupied I finally take my seat. There is this power that surges from within the seat that strikes into the core of my heart. It isn’t familiarity rather a feeling of belongingness. A feeling of home.
He sits down gradually, unbelieving that his imagination had taken its true form. Innocently wide emeralds regard me as I scan through the dishes placed on his table. It is a mixture, some are of what he prefers and others are what I like.
“Papa.” Kal babbles naturally drifting towards his father raising his hands asking to be held. Our male is content for this is the very first time he is sitting with both his father and me by the table.
“These dishes smell heavenly, do they not Deimos?” I do not ask him as an Alpha male but as my mate, as Kal’s father. The crucial wolf of my family. He is unable to answer, for he fights to breathe.
Cutting up a few slices of steaming meat I place it on his empty plate. My females begin to cry low wails erupt from the back of the room. My action was a sign of my acceptance of him, of his worthiness to be fed by me.
“Is this not your favourite? Here take more.” I mutter whilst slicing up more pieces to set them upon his plate. His eyes gape at the meat and he peers back at me as I wait patiently for him to take his first bite. “Are you not going to eat?” I query with a warm smile, my eyes sink into his bare soul. There is a shift within him from emptiness to becoming whole.
He gives me a slow hesitant nod as he plunges the trembling fork into the tender flesh and puts it into his mouth. Whilst he swallows I see the Alpha male manifest to an innocent pup who had always unknowingly yearned for one thing in his life. To be loved.
Deimos sits by my side battling with his struggle to swallow down the emotions that drown him. He sits by my side with the entirety of his being trembling and breaking apart for all eyes to see, with his heart and soul stripped off any barriers and walls by my presence.
Deimos sits by my side, naked.
