Change. Change is inevitable. It possesses a deep power. The power to bring forth a new beginning or the power to destroy everything. When a person changes every single individual in that person’s life is affected.
The little changes that Deimos is going through affect me as his mate and his wolves as his pack. Ragon says it’s because of me however I think I merely showed him the path and he was the one who took the first step. No matter what Deimos chose to take the first step. He accepted he needed to change and that’s what is important.
My eyes snap open to the loud beeping of the alarm as I groan and shut it off. Slowly getting up leaning upon the bed’s headrest I look towards my window. Daylight isn’t born yet and the sky still holds darkness. Thinking about what the day holds makes my heart squeeze. I am nervous. Deimos requested to have breakfast alone with me today.
I kept my alarm early as I thought an early run would calm me both emotionally and physically for the day. I need to relax my nerves. Heading towards the bathroom I wash my face and look up towards the mirror. Is it what I think it is? Did Deimos ask me out on a first date? If yes, what should I wear? Formal or informal? I mean it’s just breakfast there is no need to dress well yes?
Sighing loudly I stop myself. I don’t want to get myself excited. The more expectations you have the more disappointments it brings forth. Putting on my workout clothes I tiptoe towards the castles’ entrance not wanting to wake up the sleeping wolves.
Striding towards the running path I softly stretch my limbs doing a small warm-up before I set out in a jog. The weather is quite wonderful today. The breeze is soft as it caresses my skin and it’s extremely quiet at this time of the day. Not an eerie quietness but a peaceful one. The birds are asleep making it so that the only sound you hear is the soft rustle of the trees.
As I enjoy the peaceful feeling and the scenery my jog turns into a sprint and I swift through the trees my wolf howling with the pleasure of us being one with nature. I run until the sun rises and the birds begin their morning lullaby. The sunlight gives way to more paths and turns that were hidden before by darkness and I take it.
I feel a sudden soft tap on my shoulder from behind and I act quickly. I turn around and pounce on my attacker banging the wolf on the forest floor sitting upon him I snarl baring my teeth gripping his neck tightly my chest heaving. Who dare touches an Alpha?
“I surrender,” Deimos says holding his palms up towards my face as I see a hint of amusement on his face. I slowly retract my hands away from his neck and shift backwards.
“Deimos,” I whisper.
“Mate.” He replies.
“Deimos?” I say again but questioningly.
“Mate?” He copies my tone.
“Why are you here? Why are you even awake?” I ask him.
“I could ask you the same thing.” He says with a soft tilt to his head.
“I came for an early jog. Needed to clear my head.” I answer swiftly as he nods.
“Same here. But it’s not my head. Something else was bothering me all night.” Deimos says as his voice turns husky.
“Something else? What was it? Are you alright?” I ask him worried scanning my eyes over his body as he stares at me quietly. Holding my elbow in his large hand, he tugs me towards him chest to chest, face to face as I gasp my heartbeat increasing its pace. He looks deep into my eyes as his lips tilt up softly.
“I would love to tell you but I think the position we are in right now….” Deimos looks at our current position. Him lying upon the soft grass with me sitting on top of him. “Would cause some heated…. problems.” He whispers as my cheeks burn.
I get up quickly and move a few steps back as he gets up dusting his sweatpants. “I apologize I didn’t notice,” I say softly as he looks down at me.
“It’s alright. I quite enjoyed it.” He says his tone serious as I look away. He’s straightforward these days. He doesn’t hold back anything and says exactly how he feels. It’s a new thing for me so it often surprises me.
“Are you not hungry mate? The sun is up.” Deimos asks as he shields his eyes from the sun looking up at the sky. I don’t reply as my eyes are busy watching the drops of sweat sliding down his neck and the bulge of his arms to his every movement while my mouth is busy salivating with the thought of tasting him. I want to lick every inch of his body. How would he react if I touched his…
“Mate?” Deimos calls out to me.
“Y-Yes sorry. I am hungry.” I say clearing my throat looking away. Should I have said thirsty? Very thirsty. We haven’t touched in so long that a simple heated glance made my core wet begging for release. I don’t know how much longer I could hold back.
“Then let’s head back and do what we planned,” Deimos says softly as I nod following him to the castle. As soon as we reach the castle we both rush into our rooms. I take a quick shower and dress up. My nerves tangle with each other as I feel butterflies in the pit of my stomach.
I hear the sound of a paper sliding across the floor and I turn around looking directly at the paper by the door. I slowly walk towards it and pick it up. Scanning through the words written in black ink I smile.
“Come to the terrace, mate.”
I fold the paper, keeping it up on my desk. I don’t want to throw it. It’s his very first written letter to me. His very first invitation and perhaps the first of many to come. I want to look at this letter one day and smile fondly about these memories.
Leaving my room I head towards the staircase and for the first time, I climb it. I have never been to many parts of the castle and this area is one of them. It was prohibited. My hands begin to shake and get clammy as my eyes find the terrace door and I rub them harshly against my dress.
Opening the door softly my eyes widen at the sight. It was…. beautiful. I could see all of Deimos’s land from up here but that is not what I am describing. What’s beautiful is the sight of Deimos standing with his head lifted into the air, eyes closed and a soft smile on his lips. For the first time, I see Deimos looking peaceful.
