Katrina’s p. o. v
I slowly walked in the forest trying to pick up any slight sound of noise I could get.
The surrounding area wasn’t safe and I knew that it was just a matter of time before hunters caught up with us.
We moved and changed places a lot for the very reason. It was annoying but worth it because it kept us safe.
I stilled my movements when I heard low breathless panting a few meters away. Judging from the heavy footsteps I was picking up as well, I knew that whoever it was they weren’t a threat to me or my brothers. Hunters were light with their feet and movements, they trained on how to be invisible and quick in the movements. In order to attack their prey without them knowing, they mastered a lot of technics that were deadly and hard to shield from.
I quickly moved in a flash to the place where the noise was coming from.
I stood a bit further away and knelt near a small bush to see who it was.
I was in shock when I saw a tall man with a slight huge built punching the air.
Although I couldn’t see his face because he had his back towards me, something about him felt off. Sweat was running down on his neck and yet he was still going on.
I looked at his posture with a frown. He wasn’t experienced in either training nor fighting, which I could tell from his stance. But despite that, he really was putting his whole in the force of his punch. He had medium black hair that was almost touching his broad shoulders and his muscle flex was impressive.
He had nothing to do with me and yet I couldn’t pull my gaze from him because I wanted to see his face.
I moved a bit closer, deliberately making a few noises to get his attention.
He quickly turned and looked my way with a deep frown.
A smirk instantly touched my lips. He was handsome, a lot more than I had imagined. A strong jawline. Full kissable lips and perfectly shaped brows. But something about his eyes was unusual. Although they were pretty, they were whitish and his clothes were dirty and slightly torn.
“Was he blind?” I asked myself silently when took another step closer.
He quickly thrust his hand into his trousers pocket and removed a black clothe. I was about to talk to him when he quickly tied it around his eyes covering them.
“I know you are there. Come out now and face me if you are truly a man.” He spat surprising me.
He was all alone in the forest and judging from his eyes, I was sure he was blind. Instead of showing fear, he was showing courage.
He was totally my type.
One thing my brothers and I didn’t care about was status. We slept with whoever we wanted be it rich or poor, all they needed to do was accept us as well in return.
“Who the hell are you?” He asked loudly this time.
The thing that surprised me was the tone of his voice. How could someone sound so arrogant when he was all alone and surrounded by a lot of predators. Everyone knew how the place was unsafe, there was a pack of Werewolves ahead which my brothers and I completely avoided running into to and there were hunters around. Not to forget the animals that harmed humans.
“It’s wrong to just stand there and stare at me. Are you perhaps a sexually aggressive criminal who gets off by watching others or what?. Either way, I’m not scared of you because I can sense your damn presence. I know you are there.” He said loudly.
I slowly moved and approached him. As I got closer to him, he took a few steps backward and tripped, falling to the ground.
“Are you here to kill me?. Did my old man send you?” He asked in a whisper and this time I detected sadness in his voice.
Why would he think like that? Was his father a bad man.
“No, I’m not here to kill you.” I answered softly.
He quickly released a deep sigh that I didn’t know he was holding in.
“That’s a relief.” He whispered.
“What is?. Is it because I am not here to kill you or is it because I’m a lady?” I asked seriously.
“It’s a relief that you are a girl right.” He answered.
“Lady not girl.” I corrected.
“Or sorry, I meant lady.” He said under his breath.
“Do you have something against men?” I asked curiously.
I knew it was none of my business, but I still wanted to know.
“Not exactly, it’s just that I have a horrible past experience that involves them. You can say I hate my gender a lot.” He answered surprising me.
“Then what are you doing here all alone?. You could be attacked by a man or kidnapped.” I exclaimed while kneeling in front of him.
“Well, I’m not the only one here am I?. I’m with you now.” He answered while laughing softly.
I smiled and brushed my hand through my hair.
“You have a smart mouth I see.” I muttered under my breath while gazing at his lips.
“Well not always.” He answered then moved his hands to feel the ground.
“So tell me, what are you doing here?” I asked seriously.
“I’m sorry, I can’t tell you that.” He answered.
Damn it, why did I have a feeling that he was going to be hard to befriend.
“At least tell me your name handsome.” I whispered trying so hard to win him over.
He kept quiet for a few minutes then smiled.
“My name is…
“Damon.” A lady called from behind.
I quickly stood up and ran behind a huge tree ahead before she could see me.
I didn’t want to act like a coward, but I had no idea who she was. I needed to make sure she wasn’t an enemy before revealing myself.
