Jason’s p. o. v
Vincent and I were going crazy. But mostly tired. We had been moving in circles for hours and Rhoyda was right beside us.
Emily’s scent was no were to be picked, only outside the pack’s border and at on certain tree, bedsides that, we couldn’t pick up anything. it’s as if she had rested there and vanished into thin air.
“Jason,” Rhoyda called softly.
“Any news from Ken and our warriors?” I asked seriously through our mind link.
“No, they too couldn’t pick up anything or find any clues leading to her whereabouts.” She answered.
I growled loudly then run towards the pack’s border.
What I felt wasn’t only anger, but a thirst for murder.
Although Rhoyda tried to convince me that Cole was dead. My mind knew better than to believe it. For some reason I could feel his presence, it’s as if he was alive somewhere. If my thoughts were correct. It was him who had my mate. That damn fucking bastard.
He wanted me to go insane while keeping her a prisoner!.
That wasn’t going to happen, and what he didn’t know was that I wanted him dead more than the first time.
This time I was going to tear him limb by limb before setting his corpse on fire and watch him burn to ashes.
If he had approached me in a friendly way, maybe, just maybe, I could have felt a sense of guilt and apologized for my past actions. But then he dared to take my only joy and happiness away. I was going to kill him brutally and enjoy his cries of pain.
I reached the packhouse and walked in.
“Jason don’t act rush or without making any plans.” Rhoyda warned through our mind link as I shifted into my human form with slight pain.
“Don’t talk to me Rhoyda.” I responded huskily then walked upstairs to my bedroom.
The packhouse was quiet and no one was around. Everyone had gone out to try and help search for her.
I entered my room and went straight to my wardrobe. Pulling out a pair of boxer, jean trousers and a T-shirt.
“Brother, I know that you are going through a lot. I really understand how you feel.” She said while I dressed up.
“You understand nothing. If I was to kill Ken, maybe then you would understand how I feel.” I threatened.
“Don’t you dare.” She warned In a loud growl.
“Then fuck off. Don’t talk to me anymore until I calm myself down.” I answered then completely shut our mind link.
I turned and faced the bed with an aching heart. Tears filled my eyes and my throat got dry. She must have been taken by force from the bed. Her scent was stronger there.
Why was it that I couldn’t mind link her when we did mate? It was as if something or someone was blocking me out of her mind.
It was impossible to do that right?. Unless it was a witch or I was rejected openly by Emily. The other reason I could think of was that maybe Emily blocked me off unknowingly thinking she was with me wherever she was, when it clearly was Cole.
No way. That last option was definitely out of question. There was just no way Emily couldn’t tell us apart. Moreover, why would Cole want to be me?. If he was alive then he must feel anger and hurt towards me. He wouldn’t be kind or even look at my mate. He would hurt her badly to get to me easily.
“Alpha,” Ken called outside my room.
I groaned loudly then moved to the door and opened it wide.
“Let it be good news that you are about to tell me.” I said seriously.
“Beca.” He called softly as a woman stepped from behind him.
“Alpha.” She greeted with a bow.
“Beca is saying something that I don’t really understand Alpha.” He said with a frown.
“And what is that?” I asked while folding my arms.
“I too feel confused alpha, perhaps I was too tired and my mind made everything up. But I could have sworn I saw you hours ago.” She said softly.
“Is that what is confusing?” I asked ken sarcastically.
“Ken announced to everyone how you were training in the field. He told us to keep away and we did just that. But as I was walking from the storage room I met you. Do you remember?” She asked as I sighed low.
“No,” I answered frankly.
“You told me that you were thirsty and needed a glass of water. Since it was late, I decided to mind my own business.” She said softly as I frowned.
“So what’s confusing about this?. Because to me, you are clearly sounding delusional.” I spat angrily.
“I was maybe, because you had a different haircut then and your aura felt different. A part of me thought of you as another person. But that is impossible.” She said as my heart instantly picked up and began aching.
Fuck, I was right, Cole was definitely alive.
“Then I saw you again and your hair cut seemed to be that which you came with. It’s different than the one I saw you with hours ago.” She said loudly.
“Ken, is she on some medication, or is she not resting enough?” I asked seriously.
No one was to know that Cole was alive. I was going to make sure everything was buried.
“Beca rarely rests alpha. She is in charge of helping new mothers’ take care of their pups.” He answered.
“I see, so she is very exhausted and losing her mind.” I pointed out.
“No, I’m not.” She answered quickly.
“I didn’t want to accept this because I saw no reason to. But yes I met you a few hours ago, I really was thirsty and needed a glass of water. I had no idea you would be checking me out when your interest lies in my beta.” I spat.
She gasped loudly then bowed low.
“Please don’t misunderstand alpha. I wasn’t checking you out at all.” She answered.
“I have no time for such bullshit. Next time you decide to approach me, Ken, it should be worth my time.” I said seriously.
“I’m sorry alpha. She kept on insisting to talk to you that I gave in. Beca is like a younger sister to me, turning her down without reason is kind of hard.” He answered in a respectful tone.
“I understand, but let this be the last time you give in to such stupidity.” I spat then turned and walked into my room after shutting the door behind.
My knees instantly gave out and I fell to the ground.
“Cole is really alive,” I whispered in shock.
Everything was going so wrong. But what I regretted the most. Was ever coming back to this hellish place.
