Alpha Cole knelt down beside a huge tree observing the pack’s border. And I was right next to him observing the environment as well.
We had to make sure it was safe and that no warrior was patrolling near it.
“Alpha, we have to plan our way through and know when to strike.” I mind-linked him.
I was very surprised when he ordered me to go with him to our enemy’s territory. We had not planned anything and going just the two of us felt kind of suicidal. Sadly I had no say in the matter, he was the Alpha after all. My life was in his hands
He looked at me and shook his head.
“Wait here.” He whispered then stood up and walked to the border.
I frowned for a second wondering why he was going in by himself. No matter how I looked at it, the alpha was suicidal.
Yes, he was very strong. Stronger than any Alpha I had heard of. He was also fearless and brave. But that didn’t mean he was immortal. Walking into an army of wolves was really a death wish. If they were to team up against him it would be bad, and not to mention that his brother was back running the pack.
I stood up with a low sigh and brushed my hand through my hair.
My loyalty was pledged to Cole and I lived to only serve him. As cold as he seemed he wasn’t. He was just very serious and wanted perfection from everyone who was under him.
When I first met Cole. I wasn’t as strong as I was now. Then I was a weakling who couldn’t stand up for himself or look anyone in the eye. I had no idea who my parents were because I grew up in a pack that treated me like trash and kept a lot of things hidden from me. I was always alone and a punching bag for the high-ups. My life was the very hell that everyone mocked and criticized. I went through a lot of torture but survived it all because of my thirst for revenge. My anger grew day by the day in silence as I continued taking in their bullying. One day it went too far that I decided to kill the Alpha, and so I poisoned the meal he was taking. The poison was lethal that it instantly killed him.
I went into running knowing all too well that the whole pack would haunt me down. Torture me and cut me into pieces.
On the run I struggled to feed myself and find water. Everyday became unbearable to live. I was weak. Hungry and thirsty. To make matters worse, my body was slowly giving up and I couldn’t ignore the pain I was in.
When all hope was lost, and I wished for my own death, that’s when I met Cole. My first impression of him was that he was a cold-blooded killer. Cole’s wolf ( Ace ) approached me with blood dripping from his black coat. By the scent of the blood, I could tell it belonged to one of my pack’s warriors. I was sure they were looking for me but stumbled on Cole, and his wolf took over, killing them instantly.
I was so scared but tried not to show it. Most Alpha wolves hated weaklings and loved dominance.
I knew what I needed to do if I wanted to live. And that was to submit.
I submitted to him and pledged my loyalty.
He then took me under his rule and trained me very well, I had no idea I was a beta, but because of him I discovered my wolf and found out how strong we were. We later met a few exiled wolves who he took in as well and trained. The more we grew the greater we became. Later Cole decided to build a pack and I was the first one in support. We carefully worked hard and the end result was amazing. Cole became our Alpha and we respected his every wish and decision. With time Cole and I grew closer and became best friends. On a rare occasion, he opened up about his past and told me everything. His story was so sad and it made me angry how his brother had betrayed him.
The day he asked me to keep an eye on his previous pack and report to him about his brother’s whereabouts and movement I gladly accepted. A few of our men stayed from afar waiting for anything to happen. Months went by and it seemed like Jason’s hideout was impossible to find. As if luck was on our side. The bastard brought himself out on the open giving Cole the perfect revenge he had longed for.
“Cobi,” Cole called through our mind link.
“Yes, Alpha.” I answered quickly.
“It turns out Jason is in the training field. I want you to keep an eye on him. Make sure he doesn’t leave the field no matter what. I’ll be there in five minutes…. oh and one more thing. No matter how we look alike. He isn’t me” he said then closed our link before I could question what he meant.
I felt confused over his words but decided to follow his orders Without question. I masked my scent completely and walked to the border, making sure no one was following me or near me.
I was curious to see the so-called Jason. Even the men I had sent couldn’t get a glimpse of him. They just heard a few warriors talking about his return.
I quickly moved behind houses and trees. I had no idea where the damn training field was, I was only relying on my instinct. And my instinct were making me go right ahead to the left side.
“Floyd?” I called my wolf silently.
“What?” He huffed coldly.
Floyd was usually cold and angry, what he wanted was our revenge over the pack that had mistreated us. But I chose to let it go. After all, I killed the very bastard that tortured me first and allowed everyone to hurt me.
Floyd talked only when he felt it was necessary and took over when he detected any sort of threat. Besides that, he was usually quiet and kept to himself.
“Nothing,” I whispered then halted my movements when I saw a man training ahead with his back towards us. By his scent and Aura, I could tell that he was an Alpha.
I decided to move closer and watch his every move.
I fixed my gaze on his movements and noticed how flawed they were. No matter how I looked at it. He knew nothing of hand-to-hand combat.
He hit the punching bag hard and groaned loudly in pain surprising me. He really was fucking weak!. Killing him would be so damn easy.
“Fuck it hurts.” He spat then turned and faced my way.
I instantly froze in shock as a cold shiver went around me.
No way. What the fuck was I seeing!. No matter how I looked at it. The man in front of me was my Alpha. No, he really looked exactly like my Alpha but he wasn’t. His scent and Aura were different, moreover the Alpha in front of me was so weak to even fight.
“Who’s there?” He asked startling me.
I held my breath and took a step back. How could he know that someone was near him. My scent was perfectly masked and my movements quiet.
“Who is there!. I can clearly sense your presence.” He said loudly.
I carefully backed away without a word and decided to return to my pack.
I wasn’t disobeying Cole’s order, by now he must have done what he wanted to do. He had enough time to do anything, I was sure of it.
But still, I was in shock over the identicalness. If not for knowing Cole too well. I could have mistaken that man for him.
