“Why are you doing this to yourself? Drinking won’t solve anything. Besides cousin, you are badly injured,” He reached out to touch one of the injury spots on Ryan’s bare chest.
“It will heal itself,” the cold words were enough to stop Chris’ hand from advancing further. “It’s that bastard’s fault!” Ryan suddenly shouted and hit his hand loudly on the counter.
He sat up not even displaying the signs of being drunk. Something a normal human being would do after drinking three bottles of champagne.
“Chris, contact the pilot of the private jet. We have caused enough havoc. We will leave as soon as possible tomorrow,” His words made the remaining three in the room look up.
“Then we should pack up as soon as possible,” Mia looked at Sam but the latter didn’t even get the chance to speak because Ryan interjected, “No… There is no need for that. I was the one that got into the mess and I’ll have to fix it myself. It’s my fault I got cut on camera. Who knew a crazy kid would be filming everything? I won’t implicate the rest of you.”
Mia looked like she wanted to argue but Sam stopped her. “What about Scott?” Sam subconsciously pointed at a nearby room. Ryan clenched his fists tightly at this.
“Let him stay here. I am not sure I can handle having that bastard in my house without murdering him myself.”
“Will he be fine?” Mia asked quietly again and Ryan looked at her as a funny thought slipped into his mind. He clenched his fists even more.
See how funny it is. This is just the influence Scott has on them. Even after everything he has done, they can’t stop worrying about him.
“He is fine. He will be fine. He is only unconscious and not dead yet. Whatever they must have cast on him can’t be easily solved here. Only the shaman in the pack can awaken him… That is if we successfully get past the ongoing riot.”
Mia nodded and Ryan took a step forward. Something slipped into his mind making him stop in his tracks. He dipped his hand into his pocket hurriedly and brought his phone.
When he saw the displayed notification, he groaned. “Shit! Emily already called!” He didn’t know that he said that aloud.
“Have you told her?” Chris’ question made him freeze. He didn’t need a soothsayer to explain what his question was implying.
“No.”
“When do you plan to tell? What if you go back to the pack and never get the chance to come back to the human world? Have you ever thought of what she’ll do?” It was Sam that asked this time.
Ryan gritted his teeth angrily as the brat’s words came rushing back,’ What do you think she will do when she discovers that you… are… a… monster!”
He rushed out and then left the rest behind to shake their heads at his actions. Chris brought his phone and followed him, making a call to the jet’s pilot as Ryan requested.

“Have you been waiting for a long time? I came here as soon as I saw your message,” Emily said as she sat opposite a familiar man who smiled at her and shook his head.
“No… I was already here for a meeting so I just fixed the emergency appointment,” Jonas answered with a teasing smile as he sipped the juice in his hands.
“Aren’t you going to order something?” Emily shook her head sideways at this. She has already promised Lena that she will go back home early, not late… Besides, she is very anxious and far more curious to eat or drink anything.
“No, thanks,” She paused for a bit. “Did you really get some vital information about him? I have been searching my mother’s room all day but to no avail.”
Jonas smiled and drained the liquid content in the juice can before bringing out a single paper file to give her. “Here… That is all the information I was able to acquire. It’s really difficult to get some tabs on that man,” Jonas complained.
“I know… I owe you dinner,” She promised as her eyes swiftly scanned the file. “Hmmm… His name is Miles Jones,” She murmured to herself.
“Age – unknown… Married with three children. Used to live in New York until recently when he relocated to an unknown location,” Emily dropped the file since that was the end of it.
She looked at Jonas, “Do you think he mysteriously disappeared?” Jonas snickered, “I doubt that is even possible. He must have hidden away from God knows what.”
“Then… Did you manage to get a picture?” With a picture, she would be able to confront her mother. “No… It’s even surprising that we even managed to get all these,’ Jonas pointed at the file.
Emily looked puzzled. Miles Jones huh? She should be able to confront her mother with just his name and if the latter reacts to the name, it would confirm her suspicions that this unknown Miles Jones and her mother were once acquainted.

Somewhere far away from NEW YORK,
“You were the right master. Someone was indeed snooping on you,” the guard bowed to the middle-aged man sitting in a swivelling chair opposite him.
The man smiled lightly and asked in a deep raspy voice, “Did you do as I have instructed you to?”
The guards hurriedly nodded, “Yes sir… We released only the information you want them to know.”

Ryan bent over as he knocked on the door lightly. He doesn’t know why he suddenly feels so light-headed. Perhaps, it is because he drove speedily all the way here, even disregarding the speed limit.
He raised his hand to knock again when the door opened. He looked up, expecting Emily.
“Hey, sis! Why did you…?,” Lena trailed off when she saw that it was Ryan that was standing in front of the door. He looked pale and his breath stinks of alcohol.
“Brother-in-law, are you alright?” She asked, rushing forward to hold his hand but he stopped her. “Where is Emily? I need to see her. It’s urgent,” His voice was low but loud enough for her to hear.
Lena quickly brought out her phone and called Emily twice but no response. She looked at Ryan and told him, “I don’t know when she will come back. She didn’t tell me where she was going. Come in and wait for her.”
Ryan shook his head sideways and turned away. His hands clenched painfully. He can’t stay… He has to prepare to leave tomorrow morning.
