“I wanted to see how you are doing before heading back home,” He spoke softly, stroking her hair. “You… You are leaving so soon!,” Deli exclaimed, a look of panic appearing on her face.
She’d thought she would be able to get some information from Scott today but he isn’t even going to stay for too long!
Scott’s eyebrows rose at how she spoke. “I mean… Why are you leaving so soon?” She tried to regain her composure. This time, she looked up at Scott who now had a suspicious look on his face.
He stared at her for a while, trying to gauge her expression before he finally told her, “I have a very important meeting very early tomorrow morning and I can’t afford to miss it or my brother would not take it lightly with me.”
Deli’s eyes twinkled with joy. “Brother? You have a brother,” She looked at him with a clear expression that displayed nothing of how she was feeling at that moment.
Scott still couldn’t shake off the suspicious feeling. He shrugged though and told her, “Yes… I do.”
Deli looked disappointed that he didn’t elaborate on his words but she just nodded her head. If she tries to get more information, he will become suspicious of her.
“Okay… You can leave,” She adjusted his shirt and moved backwards with a sad look which made him feel reluctant to leave but then, he reached out and kissed her forehead gently before walking out.
He felt a little bit scared at that moment. What is this? He is actually a bit terrified of the new feelings arising in him.
As soon as the door shut behind him quietly, Deli was startled when a man in black suddenly popped out in front of her as he’d teleported to where she was.
She even screeched and only stopped when she recognized the man in front of her. “Brother… Don’t do this every time. Don’t always appear suddenly like this,” She tried to hide the expression that shows that she is aware of the reason why her brother is there.
“Well… I won’t have to sneak around like this or pop out in random places if someone would just execute the little task given to her,” the sarcasm dripping in the voice of the man in black.
“Brother… I’m sure you heard what he’s just said. At least, I can assume that he’s already getting comfortable with me. Comfortable enough to have mentioned his brother,” Deli explained.
“Assuming isn’t enough! You could have worked your feminine charm on him and made him stay. Then go ahead and extract the information from him we discussed but… You just let him go,” Deli could feel how furious he felt.
“I’ll get another chance very soon ’cause I know he will be back soon, “Deli tried to assure him but he just rewarded her with an unimpressed look.

Ryan’s phone suddenly vibrated in his pocket just when he was feeding Emily the last spoonfuls of the soup. He handed the plate over to her and brought out his phone.
His face steeled when he saw the caller ID. He walked to one side of the room, a far end from the bed before answering the call.
Lena of course followed every of Ryan’s moves. She still doesn’t trust the unknown guy that has been introduced as Emily’s boyfriend.
“What is it?” Ryan’s voice was so low that Lena nor Emily couldn’t hear a word. Emily on the other hand was focused on the soup so she didn’t really notice all these.
Ryan’s phone was suddenly filled with painful, heart-wrenching cries. Emily and Lena would have been terrified if his phone were to be on loudspeaker or loud enough for them to hear.
Thankfully, he always remembers to keep it low. “Boss… This man is dying,” Ryan frowned at his words. Which man? “Who is that? Who are you talking about?,” He asked coldly.
“The man you requested us to bring to the dungeon. You said you were gonna come over to interrogate him later but you didn’t… Boss, be rest assured that we didn’t stop the torment as you requested but I am afraid we will die soon and you won’t be able to get the answers you seek,” Ryan was speechless at this.
He had completely forgotten about the whole mastermind thing with everything that has been going on. He turned to look at Emily and sighed.
“I’ll be there,” His tone sounded reluctant. “We will be expecting you, boss,” the man said before disconnecting the call.
He walked back to Emily and Lena. “I have to leave now. Something urgent came up,” He informed them, although his words were clearly directed to Emily who nodded, not even bothering to look up at him.
He heard Lena mumble ‘ Thank goodness’ under her breath. Contrary to what she must be expecting him to do, he felt amused. She’s been behaving just like an annoying cat since he arrived here.
“You don’t have to come to the office tomorrow if you don’t feel strong enough. You should stay at home and rest okay?” His tone sounded so worried that Lena even felt like commending him for his food acting skills.
Because according to her, he almost made her believe just now that he is worried about Emily. “No… I’m fine. I can come to the office tomorrow,” Emily shook her as she finally drink the last liquid content of the bowl in her hand.
Ryan looked like he wanted to protest against her decision but in the end, he decided against it. He turned around and left, not before saying, “See you around little sister.”
And then he was gone. Lena was so irked by his words. Who is his little sister? Fortunately, he’d left already or she would have given him a piece of her mind. But… He just mentioned something about the office.
