She couldn’t hide the disappointment she felt when Steve’s name flashed on the screen instead of Ryan’s. So that jerk didn’t think that it was right and fair to call her and explain whatever is going on.
She gripped her phone in anger, forgetting about Steve’s message until her phone chimed again. She unlocked her phone and read the messages.
The first one was, ‘Hello wifey… Sorry that I didn’t contact you for a while. I have been really busy with work. How are you.’
She suddenly remembered Ryan’s message when she saw the word WIFEY. She was once again filled with anger. She quickly swiped down to the second message he sent to her.
‘Are you free this weekend to have dinner with me? Don’t worry. I took your words to heart the last time and we won’t be eating in a fancy restaurant. Just a secluded seaside restaurant,’ Emily’s eyes shone when she read this.
The anger is completely forgotten. Her eyes gleamed with excitement. She has always wanted to try kinds of seafood but didn’t have the time to do so.
‘ Yes. Thank you,’ she tagged his second message to inform him that her reply is for the second message. ‘ What time should I come and pick you up?’ his reply came fast as expected.
‘Evening will be better. Tomorrow right?’ she answered, laying on her bed. ‘Tomorrow it is,’ He even added a winking emoji to it.
Emily chuckled and stood up. She walked to her closet. Even if Steve said it isn’t going to be a fancy restaurant, judging by his personality, it’d be best if she dress elegantly.
So she went to the closet to select a dress for the outing. She had momentarily forgotten about Ryan and his troubles.

Ryan was ushered into the familiar sitting room with so much love. He arched an eyebrow when he saw that the table was filled with different kinds of delicacies.
“You see… Kral, Gracie has been anticipating your arrival throughout this week. There’s even someone else that’s been anxiously waiting for your arrival,” Mia finished her statement with a smile and exchanged glances with Gracie.
Meanwhile, Scott had already headed to the table. He already had a prawn in his mouth. “Hey!,” Gracie shouted when she saw this. “Brother-in-law should be the one to taste my prawns first. Not you rotten brat.”
“I’m also your brother-in-law so I have as much right as Ryan,” Scott mumbled cheekily, devouring the prawn and fishing for another one.
“But you refused to address me as sister-in-law so you are not my brother-in-law,” Gracie scolded and walked to the table to stop Scott from devouring the entire meal.
Others were already chuckling. They already know that an argument is about to occur.
“Who were you talking about?” Ryan asked, remembering Mia’s words. Mia looked at Vanessa and told him, “Pearl.”
“Pearl?” Ryan’s eyebrows rose in surprise. “Isn’t Pearl abroad?”
Mia and Vanessa shook their heads. “No, she came back just recently. She is inside… Probably in her room. Don’t know why she is hiding though,” Vanessa explained.
“Okay. I’ll go and check up on her later. I’m famished,” To their disappointment, Ryan didn’t display as much enthusiasm as they thought he would.
“Is this man really bound to die mateless?” Mia asked and Vanessa shrugged her shoulders.
Ryan was just about to finish eating when the conversation was directed at him. “Scott, you still haven’t told us what Kral has been doing these days. Are any new updates? Any girlfriend? Or a love interest perhaps?” Vanessa suddenly asked.
Scott choked. Someone had to hand over a glass of water before he could stop coughing. He was chanting inwardly, “Don’t ask me that. He’s right here beside me. He’d kill me if I say anything about sister inla… Emily.’
Ryan’s hands froze when he realized that he had completely forgotten to send a message to Emily. He stopped eating and quickly brought out his phone.
He looked disappointed to see the bar that indicated that she is no longer online. But he still sent a message to her. ‘Girlfriend… Please don’t be mad at me. Scott was just spouting nonsense,’ he clicked on the send icon and thought for a minute why is he even apologizing?
But the deed’s been done. He was stunned to see that Emily had viewed his message the minute it was sent successfully. Had she been waiting all along for his message?
A smile tugged at his lips when he thought of that. But the smile soon turned to a frown when she didn’t reply. He subconsciously shot Scott an angry glare.
She is indeed angry and it’s all these idiots’ fault. He quickly typed different but many messages to her consecutively. None of them got a single reply until he checked their time region.
‘Are you asleep?’ he finally asked. ‘Yes,’ her message was faster than he expected. He chuckled, unaware that he already caught the attention of everyone sitting around the table.
Scott rolled his eyes and faced the food to avoid the questioning looks on him. He knows that Ryan is probably chatting with Emily.
‘Why?’ he asked… Even to him, the question sounded stupid but he still asked. ‘Cause I want to. That’s the least I can do while someone is having fun with his fiance,’ Ryan could feel the grudge in her words.
Shit! She really is angry. ‘Emily, I’m sorry okay? Don’t take every word Scott says to heart. I don’t have any fiancee. He only said that to spite you.’
‘Yeah… Indeed,’ He could feel that she doesn’t believe him. So he sighed and clicked on the video call icon. The call almost disconnected before she answered it. Seems like she did it on purpose this time.
“Called me to boast about your wonderful trip in the beautiful, sunny sin of the weather?” Emily asked immediately after the call connected, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Ryan smiled and teased her, “Are you jealous?”
Emily’s gasp was loud enough for everyone in the dining room to hear.
