Chapter 39

Emily couldn’t hide her surprised expression. A normal boss would ask his PA to get him a coffee on her first day at work but he… He is giving her work to do already.
Ryan smiled when he saw the conflicted expression on Emily’s face. She looked like she could barely hold the anger in and that is exactly what he is aiming for.
“Huh… What’s wrong Ms Jones? Why do I feel like you are hesitating to collect these files from me?” He asked her with raised eyebrows.
Emily shook her head and immediately explained, “Sir… I already mentioned it earlier that I don’t have any other skills asides from marketing. How can I clearly sort out all these files?”
Ryan nodded and walked back around his table to pick up the telephone on the table. As he dialled a number, he told her, “Rule number three, never refute the boss’s decision.”
Emily almost groaned. This jerk clearly wants to torture her. Isn’t it enough that she has apologised? She waited patiently while he gave whoever he was calling instructions over the phone.
When he finally ended the calls, Emily was shaky with the weight of the files. Her hands were starting to hurt and Ryan noticed it.
“Moron. No one asked you to keep on holding the files. Just drop them on the table,” He told her and then paused. ‘Huh? Why did I just say that?’ he thought. Those weren’t what he wanted to say but Emily looked relieved anyway.
She quickly dump the files on the table and heaved a sigh of relief. Inwardly, a naughty grin appeared on a huge brown wolf as he watched the scene with much interest.
“Don’t just stand there. Go and get me coffee!” Ryan ordered much to Emily’s disappointment. Just when she thought he was being a little caring employee, he had to switch back to his rude behaviour.
As the door closed, Ryan paced around the room muttering the same words repeatedly, “What is wrong with me?”

Leilani walked down the magnificent hallway with a huge smile. She stopped in front of the last room on the left. She didn’t even knock before barging in.
“Jeez! Don’t you know how to knock before entering someone else’s room!?,” That rude tone that has always annoyed her welcomed her presence.
She glared at her sister that was sitting lazily on the couch. “Today, I’m in a good mood so I won’t reply to your nonsense,” She uttered.
Then she made sure to walk forward with pride before saying, “Coco… Didn’t you challenge me that father would never agree to me leaving this pack?”
Coco looked at her sister with a bored expression before saying, “Did you and your mother play dirty tricks on father again?”
Leilani looked pissed. Why is this brat referring to their mother like this!? Does she have single respect!?
“It doesn’t matter… At least, I get to leave this place!” Leilani shouted back. Coco stood up and laughed.
“If father knows that you know the exact address where Kral stays and you are only going to New York to stalk him, do you think he will let his precious daughter go?” Coco said lowly but her tone was clearly threatening Leilani.
Leilani gripped her fists tightly in anger. She shouldn’t have informed this brat too soon. Coco smiled and passed by, heading to the door.
Leilani panicked and immediately called out, “What… What are you doing!?”
“What else sister? Can’t you see that I am on my way to father’s room?” Saying this, Coco opened the door but before she even stepped out, Leilani stopped her, “What do you want?”
A knowing smile appeared on Coco’s face. She turned back to Leilani and told her straightforwardly, “Convince father that you want to take me along.”
“What!?”
“And your secret will be safe with me,” Coco reminded.
“Why do you want to come along?” Leilani looked perplexed.
Coco was tempted to say it was not her business but she changed her mind and said, “I just want to make sure my sister doesn’t do something stupid.” Leilani looked suspicious at her answer.
But when Coco made a move to walk out of the room, she had no choice but to agree, “Fine… Fine. I’ll go back to dad’s room now.”
Coco’s smile widen, watching her sister leave with a flustered look.

Emily raced back to Ryan’s office with a cup of coffee. She was trying to get there as soon as she can to avoid the boss’s wrath. She had watched a movie some time ago about how a cruel CEO maltreated his personal assistant with coffee tricks.
She had just grabbed one coffee flavour and rushed back. She was panting hard when she got back to the office. Despite the exhaustion, astonishment still displayed on her face when she saw the office that had been created next to Ryan’s.
Wait… I thought he said in a corner so why are her chair and table so close to his? Emily’s facial expression changed again. It’s probably to torture even more… Now she’s having second thoughts about this job.
“Hey! The coffee won’t walk all the way here itself,” Ryan’s voice made her thoughts disperse.
She wanted to tell him,’ I’m not hey’ but her legs advanced to him and she handed the coffee over to him without a word. Ryan gave her a strange look before collecting the cup.
He looked at her again and then at his coffee suspiciously. “You didn’t spit in it, did you?,” His words made Emily nervous.
“Of course not!,” Her voice raised more than she expected it to be.
His sharp gaze made her look down, realizing her mistake. Ryan nodded and sipped his coffee. He was a little bit surprised to taste expresso. How did she know that he likes expresso?
Emily stood awkwardly in front of Ryan wondering what she is supposed to do next. Just then, her phone rang and a smile spread out involuntarily as she saw the caller id.
Ryan looked at her curiously. Whose call is making her smile like this? She’s never even smiled since she came into his office.
