“Scott, what the heck is your problem? This is the twentieth lady you are dismissing today. So far, you have only accepted male employees. Are you planning to turn this company into the only male company?” Chris queried with an annoyed look.
“Didn’t you notice how they were either staring at me or you? How do expect those ones to be responsible with their work?” Scott questioned back with a relaxed look.
Chris rubbed his temple tiredly. What type of situation is this? He should have asked Ryan for help instead of this obnoxious Scott!
“What’s your name?” The dreamy voice drew Chris and Scott’s attention to the current applications that were being interviewed. They glanced at the woman sitting opposite them with a weird look on their faces.
Why is she looking at the blue-eyed guy with a dreamy look? She wouldn’t happen to have an instant crush on him right? Scott’s eyes widened as he exchanged glances with Chris.
“I’m Jonas. Jonas Kent,” The applicant replied with a small smile. The woman that had asked him a question sighed as she stared at him.
‘Are you thinking what I am thinking?’ Scott’s voice came through Chris’s head.
‘ What are you thinking?’ Chris pretended to be oblivious.
‘Eva seems to like this Jonas,’ Scott’s voice sounded even more aggressive.
Chris chuckled quietly and asked him,’ You are not jealous, are you? I know you’ve always had a little crush for Eva considering the fact that she didn’t join the team of female employees that jumped into your bed at the slightest opportunity.’
Scott glared at him and before Jonas could even sit, he said, “You are dismissed.” His word surprised the rest including Jonas and Chris.
“You are hired,” Eva refuted his words. Scott gave her a meaningful gaze and Eva also it with a meaningful gaze of hers. “Next!,” Scott ignored her words. The door opened and someone else walked in.
Chris’s eyes light up at the sight of the beauty that walked in. “Why did you enter!? Did anyone ask you to come in!?,” Eva yelled at the unknown intruder. She was unaware of the total silence that invaded the room.
“Miss… But she has done nothing wrong. She only walked in because that mister said next,” Eva looked up when she heard the person she was just defending, defended someone else.
A cold glint shone in her eyes as she stared at the lady in the doorway. Emily didn’t even hear her yelling nor did she feel the strange atmosphere in the room. She was just staring straight ahead at one person who was sitting beside the board of directors supposed to be in charge of the interview.
“You…,” She said quietly pointing at Scott. She wasn’t loud enough but everyone heard her loud and clear. Jonas looked at Scott and then Emily wondering what the heck is going on. Do they know themselves before this?
“Miss feisty, what are you doing?” Scott stood up while replying to her. Chris just sat back on his swivelling seat, watching the scene unfold in front of him.
Emily gasped and walked closer to the table. “You brat… How dare you call me to miss feisty?” She asked him, totally ignoring the people in the room. Eva looked pissed off and irritated with her unprofessional behaviour.
Jonas was even more surprised at her behaviour. She looked entirely different to the person that was talking to him timidly earlier except for the part where she got mad cause he had peeped at her chat.
“What do you mean brat? This brat is your boss. So show some respect and you look like you are just a few months older than me,” Scott replied. He felt like he had just found a replica of Gracie. That one is always arguing with him too.
“You are dismissed for your unprofessional behaviour,” Eva’s cold voice cut their argument short. Emily glared at Scott and turned to leave without even muttering an apology.
Chris’s lips rose slightly upwards in a smile. This lady is actually employed. Jonas’s mouth was slightly opened as he watched Emily walk out.
Scott glared at Eva and opened his mouth to call Emily back but someone beat him to it, “Come back. You’ll work for me, miss. Take a seat.”
Everyone turned to Chris. He actually intervened on an applicant for the first time since he sat down there. He had been letting Scott or Eva do the talking.
Others were starting to see Emily in a new light. On her first day, she’s already causing a ruckus. Emily heaved a sigh of relief as she stopped just before her hand touched the door knob.
She was already regretting not muttering an apology. She had actually been praying for someone to call her back. She was relieved when someone finally called her back and it wasn’t that brat! She’d rather leave than work for that brat!
Who knew he’d be her boss someday!? She turned back with a pitiful look and said, “Thank you.” Scott was surprised by the way she talked to Chris respectfully while she was always staring at him.
Eva looked annoyed. She turned to Jonas who was just standing there awkwardly and her eyes softened. “Sit down,” She told him too and that was how the interview process was divided into two.
Eva and others faced Jonas while Scott and Chris focused on Emily. Even so, Eva still noticed how Jonas was constantly stealing glances at Emily and her face darkened with anger.
She also noticed how Scott was behaving around her. Her fingers slightly clenched underneath the table. She could already envision Emily being an obstacle for her in the future.
“Turns out I am even older than you with two years. You are actually twenty so you should call me sir,” Scott remarked as he viewed the file she brought.
Emily glared at him and told him, “In your dreams… The only person I’ll be calling sir is my boss, Mr Chris.”
Scott glared at Chris and questioned him through the mind-link, ‘Release her to me.’
‘No,’ Chris told him stubbornly.
Emily watched them staring at each other in a weird manner. She called out, “Sir…”
