Chapter 26

His eyes trailed to the notifications displaying downwards. His eyes widened once again when Ryan’s name flashed boldly with the missed call notification icon.
He quickly got out of bed and hurriedly tried to get dressed. That was when Deli woke up. She sat up and yawned using one hand to hold the duvet which was covering her naked body.
“You are leaving so early?” She asked in between loud yawns. “Hmm… I need to be present for an interview that will be starting early. I’d probably be late ’cause I still have to go home,” he replied, bending down to tie his shoelaces.
He could already imagine how angry Ryan must have been. He didn’t even call to tell him he wouldn’t be coming home. He could already feel that he has a lot of explaining to do when he gets to the office.
Jeez! What’s he going to say? “Scott,” Deli’s quiet voice caught his attention. He turned to her to see her looking so worried.
“Hey… What’s wrong?,” He asked her softly.
She looked like she was going to faint. In the end, she yelled, “We didn’t use any protection last night!”
He smiled. He didn’t even remember… Well, it doesn’t actually matter. “Hey… Don’t panic…,” He tried to say but Deli wasn’t having any of it.
“I’m not on pill… Dear God… What if I get pregnant?” She mumbled worriedly.
“Listen to me!” He snapped. She fell silent when he raised his voice and he realized what he had just done. He doesn’t know why he felt angry at his statement but he apologized, “I’m sorry… Just trust me okay? You won’t get pregnant.”
It took a while before she finally nodded, unwilling to say a word. She looked down at her fingers, refusing to look up at him any longer. He sighed. She’s clearly throwing a tantrum cause he shouted at her just now.
But he really doesn’t have the luxury and time to pacify her right now. He stood up and kissed her forehead.
“Don’t work today. Don’t worry I’ve spoken to your boss. Just stay in this room and wait for me. I’ll come back as soon as I can,” He told her.
She smiled and nodded. She even waved at him as he left. He sighed as the door closed behind him. ‘I don’t know what this is Deli but I certainly do not hate it,’ he thought inwardly as he walked away.
He walked away too quickly that he didn’t notice the man that walked into the room that he had just left. The man was dressed in all black. A colour that isn’t particularly catchy.

Ryan gave his keys to the valet and turned to walk in when he stopped, staring at something with curiosity. He changed his direction and walked closer to the scooter.
Huh? Why does this scooter look so familiar? The lady in his neighbourhood flashed in his mind and he recollected where he had seen the scooter.
Yes… This is the same scooter she was riding. Why is she here and how come he had never noticed the scooter here until today? Or perhaps she isn’t an employee here and had only come for a meeting.
He’s not the only one in charge of the company so he couldn’t keep track of the meetings others would be having and whom they would be meeting.
“Ryan!,” Chris called out loud from the entrance of the company and he walked toward him.
“Thank goodness you are her cousin. I was starting to panic since Scott hasn’t arrived yet and some of the applicants are starting to fill up the hall,” Chris said as soon as he got to him.
Ryan’s face twitched with anger. Scott isn’t here yet? That brat is going to receive the beating of his life when he comes today.
“Let’s go… He’ll be here soon. I have work to do so I won’t be able to accompany you during the interview. I’ll select other officials to assist you,” Ryan assured as the security guard opened the glass doors and they walked in.
Chris looked dissatisfied with his words though he didn’t say a word.

Emily played with her fingers nervously as she looked around the hall. The more she looked around, the less she felt confident. Most of the other applicants that are already present are female while the rest are males.
The females were dressed up so beautifully and elegantly that you’d think they had come for a banquet and not an interview. Though few of them were dressed corporately, they still looked more sophisticated than her.
She looked down at the cloth she was wearing again and was beginning to regret putting on a pink button-up polka dot shirt and black trousers.
Others are dressed in shirts and skirts. She is the only one wearing trousers and she felt awkward. So much for google searching what to wear on her first day.
“Hello,” A cool masculine voice spoke beside her. She looked up and was stunned to be drowned in the first pair of deepest blue eyes she had ever seen.
Woah! This is her first time seeing someone with very deep blue eyes. That was the only thing she noticed about him. He smiled at her and then she remembered to react.
She smiled back at him and didn’t notice how some of the ladies chattering before stopped to glare at her. They began to whisper while pointing at her.
She had instantly gone from the position of nobody to somebody that was noticed by the hottest guy there.
“Your dimples are lovely. They are almost invisible,” He commented and she looked surprised.
“I forget I have dimples since not many people notice them,” She answered him.
“I’m Jonas. Who are you?” He introduced himself with a smile still dancing on his lips. She reached out for a handshake and told him, “I’m Emily.”
He clasped her hand in his a little bit too tight and mumbled, “Nice to meet you.”
“And you too.” And then, there was silence until he said, “I noticed how you have been sitting alone here and I am not really a fan of ladies that gossip like those ones over there have been doing, that’s why I came over.”
She chuckled and looked at the ladies he was talking about.
