Second Brother remained silent all along, as if the argument that was unfolding was none business of his. But he is the key part of this matter.
If he was to take charge of these projects, he would surly go back to the headquarter, which means he is back at the core part of Nanhe group. And then, everything Xiaodong did before would be in vain.
Xiaodong Su was sure not happy with it. He thought he could be the successor as long as he drove Second Brother away. But he ignore the fact that Nanhe Group is a giant company, and it is not only Jiye and Wenbei who are in charge, There are the board, many shareholders, and senior directors.
All these people can decide the fate of the group as well as the appointment of senior officials in the group.
But most importantly, there is Ling Jiang, a vice president who is both beautiful and careful. She is not chairman’s wife, but an indispensable person in this group.
Ling Jiang was surly in the knowledge that the reason why Jiye agreed to drive Wenbei away was because he was threatened by Xiaodong. She didn’t intervene because she considered it an internal affair of Su family, and her position won’t be affected by the outcome of this conflict.
But she came to the realization that Xiaodong was not a man that plays by the rules, instead, he doesn’t even have a bottom line, since she got kicked out of the ceremony by a security guard and her picture got published on a newspaper. And if this man went up, he was gonna be more of a threat to her than Wenbei, who is a real gentleman.
That’s why she took actions, and placed tremendous amount of pressure onto Xiaodong, and Xiaodong, despite his rage, could do nothing about it.
He is not that stupid as to believe he could go against the board, which represents the supreme authority of the group. Even though he is Jiye’s son, he can not do whatever he wants.
Xiaodong grabbed a wine bottle from the table, and drank a half of it nonstop, and said, “Fine, you all take me as an enemy, and I want you to remember that you should not push me too hard, or I’ll destroy every one of you.”
Wenbei finally opened his mouth, “Don’t worry, big brother, I won’t fight with you over the projects, as these projects are not yours, nor mine, they belong to the company, to all of us, so it doesn’t really matter who is in charge, as long as it is managed reasonably.
Xiaodong’s distrust was all written on his face. He believed Wenbei was talking nonsense.
“You really think so?” Xiaodong asked, staring at Second Brother.
“Sure. It’s my honest opinion.” said Second Brother calmly.
“If so, I want you to go back to Hai City and never come back again. They want you to take charge, and you just turn it down, and then there is nothing they can do.”Xiaodong suggested.
What surprised me was that Second Brother responded with a simple ” Fine”.
I almost went mad. I had devoted such a huge amount of time and effort to put on this show, and finally, a wedge had been driven between Ling Jiang and Xiaodong just like I planed and a good chance for turning everything around had finally presented itself. How can Second Brother let it slip just like that? Why Second Brother agreed to what Xiaodong said? Why?
Second Brother’ s consent gave Xiaodong another glimmer of hope.
“Aunt Jiang, as you heard, Wenbei doesn’t want to come back. Will the old people in the board ask someone else to replace me?”
Ling Jiang laughed. “You have no say in who should be in charge of the projects. The directors have made their opinion clear. Only Wenbei can take charge, and if he refuses, he will be dismissed and investors will withdraw their money, which means all the projects will be abandoned. Wenbei, is that what you want to see?”
Ling Jiang could always be super effective, and I knew that. What Xiaodong could think of was never gonna escape from Ling Jiang’s mind.
Then Second Brother kept silent. He knew Ling Jiang very well and he knew she had already settled everything and all he needed to was to come back.
They are all schemers. Amazing!
“We will leave it here.” Second Brother stood up and said, “Little sister, we shall go. Leon Hua came to Yang City together with me, and he wants me dine with me. Will you come?”
I was excited for a little bit. “Leon also came? What is he doing here?”
“Director Hua also came? Wenbei, how come you didn’t invite him over for lunch? Don’t you think it is rude?” Ling Jiang said.
Since Leon is the chairman of Hua’s Group, Ling Jiang referred to him in a more polite manner.

I didn’t mind her saying that, as it is a fact. Leon is my former husband.
“Mr Hua is the chairman of Hua’sGroup, which represents the biggest consortium in Hai City. You need to watch your mouth and show your respect.”
Susie argued, “What did I say? In which way was I not being respectful? Chairman of the board, big deal ! What kind of man can fall in love with Nala Yao? He is must an ugly old man.”
Wenbei frowned and said, “That’s not nice, you know, talking about people behind their back. Besides, Leon is far from an ugly old man, instead, he is a fair young man who is quite good-looking. You should stop talking nonsense like that or you will trun yourself into a laughing stock.”
Susie turned her head and said, “I don’t believe that.”
It was pointless to brag about Leon’s appearance. I simply said, “Let’s go, Second Brother.”
“Nala, why don’t you invite Mr Hua over here tomorrow for dinner. He has traveled such a long distance, and we should be a good host, shouldn’t we?”Ling Jiang said. I couldn’t believe Ling Jiang was taking such a huge interest in Leon.
“Okay, I will invite him over if he has free time.” I said coldly.
“Mom! If we want to invite him, we should do it ourselves. This is not her place, and why should she do it?” Susie got another opinion.
“Shut up! Stay out of this!” Ling Jiang shouted at Susie.
At that moment my phone ringed, and it was Leon calling. Maybe we had kept him waiting for too long.
“Nala, I have traveled so far, and you don’t even come out and see me? What kind of monster are you?” The first thing he said was an accusation.
I walked outside with my phone and said, “How dare you to accuse me like that? You came here and you didn’t even tell me. It was Second Brother who informed me about your coming.”
“I want to surprise you.” Leon said.
“You rarely surprise me. You frighten me most of the time. Wait a second, me and Second Brother will be there.”
