The people present naturally understood the meaning of Ling Jiang’s words, so none of them commented.
Wenbei Su raised his hand slightly, indicating if he could interject.
Ling Jiang looked at him and said, “Mr. Su has something to say.”
“I’m not in charge of Tongyu directly, but I still know about Lanhai Technology and Hua Group. Lanhai Technology was one of the earliest start-ups in the industry with far more users of its products than Tongyu, and Hua Goup was the first consortium in Hai City. There’s more no doubt about it.”
“So I find it very difficult to acquire Lanhai Technology from a powerful Hua group. It’s not just a matter of confidence, it’s also a matter of practical possibilities. For example, why did Hua Group sell Lanhai Technology? If they don’t want to sell it to us, we can’t force them.” said Wenbei.
Wenbei’s words could be very fair, and Ling Jiang naturally knew that Wenbei had the intention of speaking for me. But she showed no visible displeasure and looked as she always did.
“Is Mr. Sue finished?” Ling looked at Wenbei and said.
“Yes.” Wenbei said respectfully.
“I’ll summarize what you mean. You’re saying, we can’t succeed. You don’t think it’s likely that we’ll merge Lanhai Technology into Tongyu, do you?” Ling looked at Wenbei and said.
“Nothing in this world is absolutely impossible. I’m just discussing how possible it is and how likely it is to succeed.” Wenbei argued.
Their tone was calm, but their intent of arguing with each other was obvious, which made the attendees a little nervous.
That was the last situation I want to see. They all knew that Wenbei would speak for me, but I didn’t want him to be influenced by me in the group, leaving others an impression of his unscrupulous in separating public from private interests and putting me under his protection deliberately.
I raised my hand, signaling that I wanted to speak.
Ling looked at me, indicating that I could speak.
“Miss. Jiang, I’m in charge of Tongyu now. And I used to work for Lanhai Technology. I used to be one of Hua Group’s executives as well. So I know the competition very well. Since the group has proposed an acquisition target, I will try my best to complete it. As to what kind of difficulties will be encountered, how they will be overcome, and whether they can be overcome, I will be honest with the headquarters. So we don’t have to argue about that.”
Ling listened to my words with great satisfaction and she said, “That’s the attitude an executive should have. Then we aim to acquire Lanhai Technology within six months. Then we’re almost done with the task in the tech section. Do you have confidence?
“Yes, I have.” I nodded.
I knew whether I had confidence or not, I definitely had to say that I have confidence in this situation. If I said no, the argument would continue.
The deadline for acquiring Lanhai Technology was within six months anyway. If I didn’t have it in six months, I would quit, and it was better than arguing with Ling now. And on one would know what would happen in six months. In that case, I only had to proceed with the acquisition plan step by step.
After the meeting was over, Ling asked me to stay and talked to me alone.
Actually, I had great admiration for Ling. She can be considered as a role model for women. She is beautiful and capable, and she has all the best qualities of a woman, which makes people envy her.
“Do you think I’m targeting you?” Ling asked me directly.
I shook my head quickly, “No. You’re just doing your job.”
“Actually, I know about your complicated relationship with Hua Group and Lanhai Technology. I didn’t put you in this position to target you, but to prove you. If you do it right, people will forget your past. But if you don’t do it right, everyone will remember that you’re an outcast loser. So if you buy Lanhai Technology successfully, you’ll become famous again in Hai City and win your dignity in Hua Group, and gain a foothold in Nanhe Group, too. Don’t you think so?”
Naturally, what she said that made sense, but I didn’t know if Ling said that sincerely.
I nodded my head anyway. As long as she said it, I nodded. And I was not going to disagree with her. My reason was simple for doing that. It wouldn’t do me any good to oppose her. She was my boss and I had to do it if she wanted me to.
“It’s good that you understand. You come on. If you have any difficulties, you can tell Wenbei, or you can come to me directly.” Ling stood up and said.
“Thank you.” I said.
After talking to Ling, I went downstairs to Wenbei’s office to say goodbye to him.
“You’re leaving so soon? Why don’t you leave tomorrow? Come to my house for dinner tonight. The dinner has already been arranged.”
I laughed bitterly, “No, I don’t have the appetite right now with all the pressure.”
“No matter how stressed you are, you have to eat. You don’t have to mind too much what Miss Jiang said. She puts so much pressure on everyone. Just try to do it as best you can, you don’t need to have too much pressure.”
“There’s something I want to ask you, but I don’t feel right about it.”
“Go ahead, it’s fine.”
“Maybe Miss Jiang dislikes me and don’t want me to stay in the company, so she gave me an impossible task?” I said apprehensively.
Wenbei didn’t answer right away. He thought for a moment, and then asked me rhetorically, “Is that what you think?”
I nodded “I do have that in mind. I don’t want to hide my true feelings in front of you.”
“It’s not entirely unreasonable for you to think that way. But Miss Jiang is strict with everyone. Let me put it this way, all the executives at Namhe Group are afraid of her. She is strict with other people and also strict with herself. She has also led her team to accomplish many seemingly impossible tasks. So nothing in this world seems impossible to her. She believes that everything is possible if you go for it.”
Wenbei seemed to not lie to me, Ling Jiang was indeed a very capable woman.
“Okay, just relax. Come to my house for dinner tonight, it was the chairman’s idea. If you leave, they will blame me.”
I had been under a lot of pressure to meet up with Ling Jiang at work. Now I still had to go to Su’s Famiy. It was inevitable that I had to continue talking about work with Ling Jiang and Jianye Su again. It was too much of a headache for me
“Could I refuse? I really don’t want to go.” said I.
“With so many executives at Nanhe Group, only a few are fortunate enough to be invited to my home for dinner. It’s only good for you to get acquainted with my dad and Miss Jiang.”
I nodded my head, indicating that I understood. I knew it was a great honor to go to dinner at the most prominent Su Family in Yang City, but I just thought it was too much pressure.
