Avalyn
The lady with silver hair and blue eyes appeared in front of me and smiled. Now that I notice it, her hair were exactly the same colour as mine. Our eyes were the same colour too.
“Hello, Avalyn.” She smiled at me and another wave of peace and calmness washed over me.
“Hi,” I smiled.
“You’ve done so good.” She looked extremely pleased with me and my cheeks heated up at her compliment.
“Thank you.”
“You both are now one step closer to your goal. You just need to keep going forward.”
“What goal?” I frowned.
“The one you are destined for.” She gave me an omniscient smile. “Fulfilling your destiny or not is on you now. All I can say that the road ahead is not going to be smooth. But it’s going to be worth it.”
“But I don’t want to go through a bumpy road. I’ve been through so much,” my breath got caught in my throat. “I just need peace. And Nikolai.”
“Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations, Avalyn. And this bumpy road will lead you to greatness, because that is exactly what you are destined for.”
“You’re talking in circles again,” I whispered, “you always do that.”
She let out a low, tinkling laugh. It was the most melodious thing I had ever heard. “All I am saying is that whatever happens next, see it as a blessing. Everything will work out in time.”
“Okay.” I nodded.
She smiled again, “it’s time for you to go back now, Avalyn. Wake up.”
“I don’t want to. It feels so good here. All I feel is pain there.”
“It’s not your time yet.” She replied. “Open your eyes, Avalyn. Give Nikolai my regards.”
The lady in white just smiled in a final goodbye and then she became all blurry before she disappeared.
“Ava…” Nik’s voice cracked. He was lying on the floor besides me, clutching his chest. He looked in unbearable pain.
He was crying. Why was he crying?
“I love you.”
My heart warmed at his declaration. “I love you too,” I rasped, my throat very sore from all the screaming.
His eyes turned blurry and he extended his hand to hold mine. “The mate bond broke.”
And then I felt it. My hand raised automatically to my heart. I couldn’t feel her anymore. At all.
My wolf wasn’t just absent anymore, she was dead.
That’s why I was in so much pain. It was the pain of my wolf dying. And that hurt him more than it hurt me, if his heartbreaking expression is anything to go by.
He must have gone through the pain of the mate bond breaking and his mate dying. That is the worst pain a wolf can feel in his lifetime. The pain was said to be worse than dying itself. And while he was going through that pain, I was enjoying peace with that silver haired lady.
My vision blurred. “I’m sorry.”
He shook his head. “You’re finally a Faye now.” He smiled a crooked smile that didn’t look very happy. But he was trying to be.
Memories of what happened in the last twenty four hours flooded into my brain. The old lady. The fake house. Me waking up in Ovzdusia. Xillian. Him saying Nikolai died.
“I just want to be your mate.” My throat clogged again. “I -I’m sorry, Nik. I’m so sorry. I- I let him touch me.” A sob rose up my throat, stopping me from saying anything else.
“I’m sorry.” Nik whispered, his fingers pushing back the hair from my face. “I should have protected you.” His eyes closed as if he was pain and couldn’t continue speaking but he did, “forgive me. I beg you.” He released a shuddering breath. “It was b-because of my negligence that you were kidnapped and he t-touched you.”
I cried.
I cried for what could have not happened if we had been more careful, what could have been avoided.
“He told me you were dead. He told me-Papa!” My eyes widened and then tears quickly filled up. He gave his life up for me.
Nik’s eyes were filled with remorse. “I’m so, so sorry, Avalyn. I rea-”
A golden glow fell upon us that stopped Nik from finishing his sentence.
We both managed to sit up but Nikolai kept a tight hold of my hand.
A man shaped silhouette entered and the golden glow fell from behind him.
He stepped into the room and the circle behind him disappeared.
The man in front of us had dark brown hair and golden eyes that were staring straight into my soul. He was tall, probably taller than Nik too. He had wide chest and thick arms. His long shapely legs were covered with black denims. He was shirtless and I could see the dark tattoos of his left arm that continued to his chest and probably his back. They were thick swirls of black, gold and white which made an intricate pattern.
“Fiyo?” He asked, his voice thick and rough.
I scooted back from the unknown male.
His eyes slashed with hurt and for some reason, it hurt me too.
He felt… familiar.
I felt a bond with him. But I’ve never even met him. How can he feel familiar?
“Who are you?” Nik jumped to his feet and stood over me, covering me with his body.
The man looked at Nik and froze him in his place. He is definitely a faye. He walked around Nik and stood in front of me, looming over me.
Who is he?
