It was a bit long for me to wait for the elevator. After I got to the parking lot, I sat in the car for a while.
I finally got a call from Yaohui Hua. He told me to go home first and he’d have his driver bring him over later.
The rush hour had passed, and I felt really happy at the thought of helping Leon get on the board.
When I was driving halfway, a call came in. It was from Alex. He asked if I was almost home. I told him I was almost there, and then he suddenly said to me, “Mom, are you hungry? Are you tired?”

I invited him for dinner, but he said he had a date, and then he put the fish down and left.
To show off his cooking skills, Leon went into the kitchen to cook the fish himself.

I felt that Yaohui was not the same when he came home as he was in the company. He was not as serious as in the company and seemed more approachable.
I led Yaohui into the living room and poured him tea. He asked me to sit down and talk with him.

“Nala, how about your parents? Maybe I can meet with them.” Yaohui suddenly asked.
I didn’t tell him that I didn’t know who my biological parents were. I just said that my parents had passed away for many years. This answer wasn’t a lie to him, because my adoptive father and mother had indeed passed away a few years ago.

Then Leon came in and told us the dinner was ready. I asked Yaohui what he wanted to drink.
He said he would only drink Maotai, and just a little wine for him was okay.
So we moved to the dining room and started our dinner.
According to the table manners in our family, children were not allowed to eat with guests together, so I didn’t let Alex have dinner with us. But Yaohui insisted that Alex should join us, saying that he wanted to spend more time with Alex.
Alex was happy to eat with us. When he saw Yaohui and Leon drinking, he also poured some juice in his glass. And when he saw them lifting their glasses, he followed them too and even pretended to taste it, causing Yaohui to laugh.
“Leon, it’s been a long time since we drank together. It’s a rare opportunity for us to drink together this time.” Yaohui said emotionally.
“Do you usually do regular medical checkups? How’s your health? Wine is not good for your health, so you should drink less.” Leon said.
“I’m healthy. But I’m old, I’m not as energetic as I used to be. Of all your brothers, you’re the most talented and the most rebellious, so we’ve some distance over the years. But we are family, and I hope you never forget that fact.”
“You misunderstand. We don’t have distance. Although I don’t do things the same way as your style, I’ve always respected you.” Leon said sincerely.
I had rarely seen Leon speak so softly. It wasn’t easy for him to speak to others in such a calm tone.
But I always felt that there was always distance between them despite their apparent politeness, or maybe it was because they were so polite that it seemed that there was distance between them.

Leon was polite and respectful, but I could see from his expression that he disagreed with his father.
I was worried that there would be a verbal argument after they drank, so I quickly raised my glass as well and said, “Dad, I’ll drink a toast to you as well.”
