Chapter 127

Book:Confused Love Published:2024-5-1

Leaving Moyun Feng in office, Wenbei Su and I came out first.
“Mr. Su, Thank you for your support.”
“You’re welcome, I’m just doing business. Our contract explicitly states that the person in charge must be you, or we will terminate the cooperation.”
I asked the question I’d always wanted to ask, “Why does Mr. Su care so much about me? I’m actually new to the workplace, and I’m quite an ordinary person in ability. Either one will probably do better than me. But Mr. Su makes it clear in the contract that I am to be in charge of the project, I actually don’t understand why you take much care of me.
Wenbei laughed, “Miss Yao means that Moyun Feng can also do better than you? So Are you questioning my ability to choose a partner? Although Miss Yao and I are very like-minded, I will not harm my company’s interests because of my personal preferences. Miss Yao is extremely intelligent and you work efficiently and with integrity. I dare say that your ability is definitely ranked within the top ten in Hai City. The success of a project depends on the partner mostly. So I choose you, not only because I am congenial to you, but I saw your potential.”
I was a little shy of being complimented by him.
I was an ordinary saleswoman before and later had the opportunity to go into Hua Corporation.
“Mr. Su, I’m not as good as you think.” I said shyly.
“I used to work on Wall Street for the top 10 investment banks in the world and met countless elites. So I still see people in their own way. I know you used to work at the bottom of the social ladder, but your performance at the University of Finance is very good. You have great potential but are hindered by the minutiae of life, and you can be a strong woman.”
Hearing her words, I was really touched in my heart.
All the people in this world want to be recognized by others. That’s not for vanity, that’s a basic spiritual need. If a person in the world denies you all, that person will certainly not be your friend.
I was grateful to him whether he was telling the truth or deliberately complimenting me.
I was really grateful that I who once was at the bottom of society could get the compliments of the social elite. It wasn’t so much about satisfying my vanity as it was about feeling like I was someone who could be respected.
“I’ll try my best, and I’ll definitely live up to Mr. Su’s praise.” I actually cried.
“Actually, I’ve always had an idea. I’ve been afraid to say it, but so desperate to say it. I’m afraid I’ll offend you if I say it.”
Wenbei’s expression was surprisingly slightly unnatural, which made me a bit nervous.
I was afraid he would say some imexplicit sentences to me that would embarrass both of us.
I would feel honored if he said something imexplicit to me because he was so charming and attractive, but I was also worried that those words would make our relationship awkward.
That’s why I was afraid to speak now.
I didn’t dare stop him for fear of hurting his self-esteem, and I also wanted to know what he was trying to say to me.
“Shall I say then?” Wenbei looked at me with an incomparably sincere look.
“It’s okay if Mr. Su wants to…” I said with some squirming.
“I think…”
Wenbei suddenly stopped speaking, which made my heart in my mouth.
“I want to… make you my sister, I wonder if you’d like that?” Wenbei was a little shy.
“My sister had died early. I’ve missed her a lot. If you’re not happy to be my sister, then forget it. We’ll still be good friends.” Seeing that I didn’t speak, Wenbei hurriedly added.
“Of course I do. I don’t have any family either, and I’m just so happy to have you as my brother. How could I not be happy?” I said with tears in my eyes.
“That’s great. Then we’ll be brother and sister after that. I’ll call you Sister later.” Wenbei said with joy.
“Ok, Brother.” I shouted happily.
“Sister.” Wenbei also laughed happily. I hadn’t seen him smile so happily since I’d known him.
Wenbei supported my shoulders with both hands, “I have a sister again. Let me know if you need any help from now on. Whatever it is, Brother will help you.”
“Thank you, my dear brother.” I said happily, “Brother, you said that your biological sister dead a long time ago. I’d like to go with you to worship her, is that okay?”
Wenbei froze for a moment, “That’s fine, her cemetery is not far, and we’ll go here.”
So Wenbei and I went to the florist and bought a large bunch of white lotus. Wenbei said that his little sister’s favorite was the white lotus.
I didn’t tell him that my favorite flower is also white lotus.
The cemetery is on the outskirts of Yang City and because it is not the Qingming Festival, few people come to the cemetery. It’s a great setting with bird sounds coming in from time to time.
Wenbei led me to a tomb with the inscription “My beloved daughter Nan Su” on the headstone.
There are no photographs or other inscriptions on the tombstone. The marble of the headstone has some signs of oxidation, indicating that the headstone is some years old.
I froze and looked at the tombstone, and suddenly a great sadness came over me.
My emotion was suddenly in a state of collapse, and I crouched down and cried loudly.
I didn’t know why I was crying. Although the people in the tomb had nothing to do with me, I was just sad.
Wenbei was stunned and came over to ask me what was wrong.
I couldn’t speak, only to feel a gasp of suppressed breath inside. My tears kept coming, and I couldn’t help it.
Wenbei patted my shoulder gently, “Sister, don’t cry, everything is fine.”
I stopped crying slowly only after I was tired of it.
That’s when I remembered that I cried like this for someone who barely had anything to do with me. Would Wenbei think I was faking it on purpose?
But I was really, really sad.
I was stuck in a huge vortex of grief and couldn’t get out of it.
