He stares at her confusingly for some seconds. Seeing the angry look on her face he can’t help getting more confused. Why is she angry?
“The medicine, isn’t it cold?” He glances at the mug and back to her face. She bites her bottom lip in embarrassment. She has been standing here for some time and the medicine tends to get cold. What the hell was she even thinking? Why is she acting this weird? What’s going on? Those are questions that keep running through her mind as she bites her lip. She has been confused why she was suddenly angry to see him with a woman, everyone knows Damien to be a pervert, he sleeps with women in the pack anyhow he likes it, why is she angry now?
“Drop it on the table,” He says to her before he walks away, while she stands there and watches him leave. Her heart flutters as she stares at him, confused about what the feeling is. It can’t be what she’s thinking, right?
Taking a deep breath, she finally pushes the door open and steps inside, but she scoffs when she spots Astrid lying on the bed. Seeing the way the bed is messy, her blood boils in rage as the imagination of what they did hits her hard.
“Come on, Cassie. Why are you being like this?” Her subconscious mind screams at her, and she sighs again. She drops the herb on the table and turns around to leave, but Astrid’s voice pulls her to an abrupt halt.
“It’s sad when someone doesn’t know their place. Don’t tell me you’re having a crush on the Alpha?” She asks Cassie sarcastically, and she slowly clenches her fists as waves of anger spark through her.
“Have you forgotten why you’re here? If you have forgotten, then I think reminding you won’t be a bad idea. Your father is a traitor, and you’re his seed. Don’t you think crushing on the alpha will put you into trouble?” Astrid’s voice sinks into her head, and she gulps down the lump in her throat as she closes her eyes, trying so hard to control the anger that keeps trying to consume her, but for how long she’ll be able to control herself is what she has no idea of.
“The alpha is merciful, don’t you think so? He could’ve killed you while the haunt for that traitor father of yours is still on, but he chose to keep you alive because he wanted to be merciful for some time. Now listen to me, Cassie. Don’t take that for granted and mess things up for yourself. You may not last another day here if you try anything stupid,” her voice echoes in her ears, and tears well up in Cassie’s eyes.
“Did I forget to tell you this? Well, alpha Damien doesn’t do maids…, and even if he does…” She pauses and finally walks over to stand in front of Cassie.
“It’ll never be with the seed of the one that betrayed and killed his father. Don’t keep your hopes high, Cassie. You may end up getting hurt. I’m sure your father will soon be caught, so you should prepare yourself to die anytime soon,” Staring at her with an evil smirk playing at the corner of her lips, Astrid says to her.
“Oh, my poor Cassie. Are you crying? I never knew telling you the truth will hurt you this badly. My bad, I shouldn’t have gone to that extent. I’m not trying to hurt your feelings, I just want you to know what’s coming ahead of you, if ever you feel like nursing feeling for the alpha,” She further says.
Cassie burst into tears as she pulls the door open and storm out of the room.
Cassie keeps running along the veranda as more tears stream down her cheeks. She storms into the garden door and stops abruptly, breathing heavily.
“I hate you, Robert!” She breaks down in tears as soon as she’s inside the garden. Recalling everything Astrid said to her, she slowly clenches her fists and grits her teeth as anger spur through her.
“I am not even in love with him, why would she do that to me?” She scoffs in tears while staring into space.
“I was just… I was just… Just angry that…” Her lips tremble and she stops to think of what to say, but there’s nothing left to say.
“Yes, I’m not in love with him. How can I be in love with him, he’s the alpha… While I am a maid. He has a powerful wolf living in him, and me? I don’t even know my identity. How can I fall in love with someone like him? I was just being stupid… Yes, I wasn’t just minding my business, that’s it,” She keep convincing herself as she drag her feet toward the stone she usually sits on each time she visits the garden. She sighs briefly as she sits on the stone and stares into the beautiful river.
“Beautiful,” She mumbles as a smile creeps up her lips.
“She will never love you, she doesn’t do maids, and even if he does, he will never do it with the seed of a traitor that betrayed his father,” Astrid’s words echoes in her head, and she scoffs.
“I’m not even asking him to love me. I know that monster I call my father is said to betray the late Alpha in the past, but what has that gotten to do with me? Why would she say that to me?” She scoffs for the umpteenth time as she throws a small stone inside the river, causing it to create ripples in the water.
“Meow! Meow…”
“What’s that?” She asks herself, looking around the place to check where the cat sound is coming from, and just then, she spots a white beautiful cat hiding behind a stone and staring at her from afar.
“Wow! Kitten! So cute…” She chuckles softly as she rushes over to the kitten and picks it up in her arms.
“Meow… Meow…” The cat cries out.
“Why’s it crying? Are you OK?” She examines the cat’s body worriedly.
“Maybe you want to drink some water. Come on,” She rushes over to the river and fetches some water with her hand. She makes the cat drink some water from her hand.
“What are you doing here alone? Poor you, mind staying with me?” She chuckles softly as she runs her fingers through its beautiful and smooth furs.
“Meow… Meow…”
“So cute,” She chuckles softly as she stands up to her feet with the cat in her arms. She turns around but stops abruptly as she feels the presence of someone.
“Who’s there?” She asks curiously…
