“You’ll have to keep her alive. She is the only one that can kill her father,” the priest says, and alpha Damien’s eyes darken as waves of anger spur through him. This isn’t the news he was yearning for, he wants her dead already and nothing should be stopping him. He has been punishing her, but none of it seems to get to her, and it’s already driving him to the edge of craziness. How’s that even possible? She should’ve been affected by the punishments, but nothing is happening to her. Seeing her every day is pissing him off, seeing her is reminding him of the past and the pain his dad had been through.
“Why?” He thunders angrily, springing up to his feet. His eyes darken angrily, and his aura darkens.
“She is the only one that can kill her father, my lord. Nicolai has been the second most powerful man and…”
“Cut that crap! I have told you to stop telling me that!” He cuts him off, and the priest quickly apologizes.
“My lord, there’s a spell cast on her, which needs to be broken. If you want to kill Nicolai, the spell needs to be broken first. Only then, her powers can manifest,” the priest explains.
“You know what to do, break the spell,” he orders.
“Forgive me, my lord. But the spell is not something that can be broken so easily. The purpose of casting the spell on her was to conceal her powers. Nicolai is not only heartless to the point of killing the alpha who was his best friend, but he has been maltreating his daughter from birth. I was able to see through her past. He concealed the spell because he didn’t want her to lose control of her powers one day and hurt him,” the priest explains, and he sighs. How’s the spell going to be broken? He’s already growing impatient and needs this to be done, but how is the spell going to be gotten rid of?
“How can it be broken?” He asks after a long silence.
“That is not certain, my lord. Only he that cast the spell on her, can break it for her too,” the priest says, and alpha Damien slowly clenches his fists as anger spurs through him. How can he tell him that?
“Do something! That’s why you’re the priest,” he finalizes and with that, he ambles out of his chamber and slams the door behind himself.
He saunters to his room and slams the door behind him. He keeps pacing in his room as the priest’s words echo in his head. How’s that even possible? What kind of a strong spell was cast on her that nobody else can break? There must be a way around this. He must find a way around it.
The sound of the knock on his door pulls his attention, and he sighs softly, glancing at the closed door.
“Go away, Kai. I want to be alone,” he says even without bothering to check out who is at the door.
“It’s something important that needs your attention,” Kai’s voice sounds from outside, and he sighs deeply, throwing himself on the bed.
His silence permits Kai to proceed inside. He pushes the door open and walks inside.
“What is it?” He asks, staring up at the ceiling.
“Alpha Kayden… He’s hosting Nicolai…” He springs up on the bed with a shocked expression on his face.
“What!” He exclaims…
It has been three days since Cassie has been trying her best to wake her wolf, but nothing is working for her.
It’s cold at the night. Everyone is already asleep, but she won’t sleep no matter how she forces herself to. She has been wide awake for hours and waiting for sleep to come knocking at her door as she’ll willingly open up to it, but it seems like that’s never going to happen.
She groans softly, springing up to a sitting position. She glances over to Zoey, who’s just beside her and sleeping peacefully. She lay on the mat one more time, but she still has the same feeling. She sighs softly and finally stands up from the mat and heads out of the house.
Stepping out of the house, the cold gentle wind welcomes her outside. It’s dark outside and everywhere is silent too.
Staring around, she closes her eyes and takes in the cool breeze. Suddenly, she feels the presence of someone. Although it’s not close by, she knows someone is around the woods.
As much as she wants to turn back inside the hut, knowing that it’s dangerous out there, she feels something keeps pushing her and triggering her curiosity. Who could’ve been outside at this time of the night?
As if something is pushing her, she finds herself going into the woods slowly, doing her best to be careful with her movements. As she walks into the thick woods that are looking more dangerous, the sounds keep getting far and luring her in. She tries to turn back, but it seems like something keeps pushing her forward.
After walking down the woods for what seemed like forever, she stops abruptly and looks around the place, but the direction she had followed had disappeared as everywhere has been occupied with trees.
“What’s going on?” She stops abruptly and whispers to herself, looking around the place. Fear grips her. She tries to move her legs, but they are so weak to move her. She’s lost in the woods.
Now she regrets coming out here in the first place, she shouldn’t have come this far, this is bad.
She gulps down the sudden lump that forms in her throat, turning around and trying to find her way out of the place, but there’s no way out. She stops abruptly at the sudden growling sound that is coming behind her.
“What’s that?” She asks herself, doing all her best not to look back. She’s scared of seeing where that sound is coming from.
Beads of sweats forms on her forehead as she stands rooted to the spot, her heart is thumping heavily against her ribcage as if it’s going to force its way out of her anytime soon. After what seemed like forever, she finally turns around to see her doom staring at her. A black dangerous looking wolf is glaring at her. Its fangs are so long and look like they’re going to devour her anytime soon.
She takes a step back in fear as her heart sinks into her stomach. At this point, she prays that the ground should open and save her, but that can only happen in movies and novels, but this is a reality that she should wake up and face. Besides, it was entirely her fault for coming out of the house in the first place.
The black wolf suddenly charges at her, and she slumps to the ground and passes out…
