The moment I took off his glasses, I suddenly felt Ming was a little different.
His face was angular. He had a high nose and thin lips.
He fell asleep so he didn’t smile. He looked very cold.
When I looked at him quietly, he suddenly opened his eyes!
I felt cold the moment he looked at me.
I didn’t know if it was an illusion. He was terrible when he woke up!
I couldn’t help falling back.
My hands were on the ground and I sat on them.
Suddenly I heard something breaking.
It took me a second to realize what it was.
Ming touched his face and frowned and asked, “do you see my glasses?”
I moved my butt and touched the ground.
I touched the metal leg of the glasses and picked it up. It was very light.
I only touched the legs of the glasses. Soon I felt the lenses.
Ming kept smiling at me. I was a little embarrassed. I put the lenses and the legs of the glasses in his hand and said, “I’m sorry. I saw that your glasses were slipping, so I took them off.”
Ming looked down at his glasses. He was sure it didn’t work. He frowned.”I’ve been wearing these glasses for years. I’m used to it.”
“I’m sorry.”I felt more sorry. I said quickly,” or I’ll get you another one.”
“It was produced several years ago. It must be out of stock by now.”
Ming was very serious.
I regretted it immediately. Why did I take off his glasses? He was kind enough to comfort me but I broke his glasses.
When I was embarrassed, Ming suddenly raised his hand and put it on my head. He rubbed my hair.”If you go with me to get a pair of glasses, I’ll forgive you.”
“Ah?”
I looked up and stared at him.
“Don’t you want to?”
“Yes, I do!”
I nodded desperately.
Ming smiled and got up. He smoothed his clothes and said, “I’ll take back the clothes hanging outside.”
“Let me do it.”
I ran outside and took back his clothes. I folded it and gave it to Ming. He went into another room and hung up his clothes before coming out.
He took the car key and said, “let’s get glasses.”
Ming was going to drive, so I couldn’t help being a little nervous.”Can you drive without glasses? Let’s take a taxi.”
“Are you afraid?”
Ming turned to look at me with a look that penetrated me.
I nodded.
He reached out and rubbed my hair and said, “don’t be afraid. I’m not nearsighted.”
I was relieved and got on his car.
This house was next to York’s outer ring road. It was not downtown, but it was not suburban either. The house in this place was certainly not cheap.
This question was in my heart, but I didn’t ask it.
Ming drove skillfully in the city.
I believed he was not nearsighted and couldn’t help asking, “you are not nearsighted. Why do you wear glasses?”
Ming was focused on driving.
He didn’t seem to hear my question.
I didn’t plan to go on, but I heard him reply, “I look fierce. If I don’t wear glasses, I may scare the children.”
“Children?”
“Yes, you are a child in my eyes.”
When we stopped at a red light, Ming turned to look at me. As he said, although he was smiling, he didn’t wear glasses so he didn’t look approachable.
I was a little unconvinced and said, “you are just a little older than me. You can’t call me a child!”
“You’re 25 and I’m 36. You were just born when I graduated from primary school. So in my eyes, you are a child.”
Ming said naturally.
I frowned and couldn’t find a reason to contradict.
But I remembered when I was in the orphanage, the teacher often said to me, “you have grown up. You have to take care of children younger than you.”You’re ten years old. You’re going to help your brother and sister with the laundry.”
I had been washing clothes and taking care of younger children since I was little.
My teacher always said that I grew up so I need to do a lot of things.
No one ever said I was a child.
I stared at him.
Ming looked forward and patted me on the shoulder with his hand.”You can treat me as your elder. You can always be a child in front of me.”
Ming’s words really touched my heart.
That day I accompanied him to get glasses, and then he took me to dinner.
When we left, there was a couple in high school uniforms at the gate of the mall. The girl said she wanted a balloon, so the boy bought one for her.
I just took a look.
Ming ran to buy me one!
When he paid, I ran over and said, “why do you buy it?”
“For a child.”Ming said as he put the balloon in my hand. He smiled and said, “take it, child.”
I stared at him.
I was stunned for a moment.
I didn’t know if it was because Ming didn’t wear glasses today. I just thought he had a kind of magic at this moment.
I felt happy with him.
I took the balloon home.
The next morning, when I opened my eyes and saw the balloon, my mood became much better.
When I had breakfast in the company canteen, Chloe saw me from afar and sat next to me.
After sitting down, she said mysteriously, “June, what happened in the final? Two people left the company.”
“What?”
I listened to her and was confused.
Chloe frowned and said, “don’t you know? The company announced yesterday that Selena had been fired.”
I was shocked! I quickly asked, “why?”
“I don’t know.”Chloe shook her head.”It’s said she broke the rules in the final. President Davies did not defend her this time.”
She broke the rules?
She must have something to do with Linda!
She was punished too lightly.
Chloe looked at my expression and immediately got excited.”Wow, you do know. Tell me what happened.”
I looked at her and hesitated.”I don’t know.”
I went to the Giant group after work that day.
I saw Eric come out of the building while I was hesitating downstairs.
He greeted me when he saw me, “Miss Carter.”
