Chapter 454: His weight on her heart

Book:Devoted Love, Mr. Hayes' Darling Wife Published:2024-6-2

“Dulcina Calvo! How dare you stay with this bastard!”
Mother Dulcina rushed in furiously, and in an instant the blood rushed to her head, she went through the house for half a day without finding a tool, ran to the kitchen and picked up a broom and held it back and used it as a stick to beat Dulcina Calvo.
“I will make you disobey! I will make you not remember.”
Dulcina Calvo winced in pain and was shielded by Esteban Zaragosa directly in her arms.
The broomstick falls hard on Esteban Zaragosa’s back!
Mother Dulcina cried out, “Get out of my way! It’s none of your business if I educate my own daughter.”
Esteban Zaragosa hugged the girl tightly, with no intention of letting go, and told her firmly, “Aunt, this is all my fault, I’m the one who upset Dulcina and I had nothing to do with her.”
“I won’t let you open it, you will! Okay, fine, fine! I’ll even beat you up!”
The broomstick was made of plastic, and because Mother Dulcina was moving so forcefully, it broke quickly. Mother Dulcina was not the least bit relieved and went to the balcony to grab the clothesline, which was made of metal tubing, and the pain of her fall on her body was evident.
Dulcina Calvo visibly felt the man holding her, and her body shuddered.
Dulcina Calvo’s eyes were red and shining as she begged for mercy: “Mom, please don’t hit him! It’s my fault, it’s all my fault.”
She tried to break Esteban Zaragosa’s embrace, not wanting to be beaten for her, but Esteban Zaragosa held her so tightly that she couldn’t break free and had to beg Mother Dulcina to stop hitting her.
“Mom… don’t hit him… please I know it’s wrong!”
Papa Dulcina couldn’t take it any longer and pulled her several times, but in the end he had no choice but to snatch the clothesline out of her hand and throw it aside: “Okay, enough! You can’t solve the problem by hitting the child! Why don’t we sit down and talk about it?”
Mother Dulcina growled, exasperated, “Sit down and talk about it? Do you see that they listen to you? Do you see that your daughter is changing?”
Esteban Zaragosa reached up to wipe the tears from Dulcina Calvo’s face and asked in a muffled voice, “It didn’t hurt, did it?”
Dulcina Calvo, choking with sobs, shook her head violently and reached out a small hand to touch his back, “And you, does it hurt?”
Mother Dulcina gave them a stern look and, unable to bear their boredom, sat down at the table and spoke coldly, “Dulcina Calvo, today I’m going to put it here. ”
It is better to have a relationship with someone, even if he is a bum, than with a married person.
Falling in love with a married man is not a relationship, it is a moral turpitude and an insult to the family!
“Mom … Esteban Zaragosa… Esteban Zaragosa is divorced”.
Papa Dulcina and Mother Dulcina’s eyes sparkled and Mother Dulcina turned her head to look at Dulcina Calvo: “What did you say?”.
Esteban Zaragosa pursed his lips and said quietly, “Uncle, aunt, Claudio Belles and I are married by common consent in our own right, there is no substantive relationship between us, and now that I am divorced from Claudio Belles and have regained my freedom, I believe I have the right to be with Dulcina. ”
Mother Dulcina scoffed: “Oh, Dulcina Calvo, you believe such things, today this man may divorce his wife for you, tomorrow he may leave you for another woman! You are alone.”
“Mom…” Dulcina Calvo wiped away her tears, “Why do you have to make me?”
“Am I forcing you? It’s you who are forcing me! What will the neighbors say about you if you stay with such a man? Of course you don’t care, but your father and I do, and they’ll say that your wickedness was cultivated by your father and me! Dulcina Calvo, if you even think of us, you ought to know whether you ought to be with that man or not!”
“…”
Mother Dulcina gave Dulcina Calvo a stern look and said to her elderly companion, “Papa Dulcina, come on!”.

When Papa Dulcina and Mother Dulcina left, Dulcina Calvo was taken to sit on the sofa by Esteban Zaragosa.
Dulcina Calvo sat on the sofa and continued to wipe tears from her eyes with the back of her hand.
Esteban Zaragosa knelt down in front of her, his dark eyes looking deep into her, and asked, “Do you regret being with me now?”
Dulcina Calvo shook her head and snorted, “How ungrateful I am, my parents hate people with bad manners, but I have become one of those people …. I know you are married but still I can’t help but want to be with you, I don’t know what to do, it seems my parents really can’t accept you…”
Esteban Zaragosa lifted her hand, wiped the tears from her small face and said softly, “We’ll face it together, and as long as you don’t back out, your parents will surely accept us someday. Besides, now that Claudio Belles and I are divorced, it’s not like we’re lacking in morals now.”
Moreover, her marriage to Claudio Belles was a mere pseudo-marriage by agreement, unknown to outsiders, but known to him.
Dulcina Calvo bit her lip, still shaking her head, “You don’t understand, my parents would never approve of me being with a man who married and divorced … not to mention that in their eyes, us being together is stealing the sun, it’s not right. Even less will they understand that your marriage is just an empty shell marriage, they will not understand, in their minds, it doesn’t matter why you got married, as long as you have that marriage certificate, you are a family man … With a family, you shouldn’t have any inappropriate interactions with women outside.”
“Honey, if your parents never agreed to us being together, what would you choose?”
Esteban Zaragosa suddenly drops a bombshell, he’s not trying to embarrass her, he’s just being selfish and wants to weigh her position and weight in his mind.
Dulcina Calvo’s head shook even more, “I don’t know…. I don’t know what to do.”
Dulcina Calvo never thought she would get such a doggone election.
To be loved or to be loved, why choose, she wants both.
“What if you have to choose?”
Esteban Zaragosa’s dark eyes were slightly downcast as he looked down at his small, white, tangled hands with a dark gleam in his eyes.
Dulcina Calvo stifled a sob and looked at him with eyes as red as a bunny rabbit, biting her white lips and her little hand seemed to slowly move away from his palm …
Esteban Zaragosa was slightly stunned, let go of Dulcina Calvo’s hand before she let go of his, stood up, turned his back to her and spoke hurriedly, “You don’t need to rush to give me an answer now, I think at this point you need to calm down.”

These days, Dulcina Calvo goes to work, leaves work, eats and sleeps mechanically.
Esteban Zaragosa no longer comes to her small apartment, as if he had automatically retired, and Dulcina Calvo tries to get in touch with him but does not know how, only glancing from time to time at the man’s jacket on the balcony.
She was almost asleep when she received a call from home.
She was unhappy with her family, had been for some time, but answered the phone anyway.
It’s dad.
“Dulcina, your mother is sick in the hospital! You should come back soon.”
