Giselle’s POV:
“Nope, they held grudges against our pack, as well as the whole werewolf community!” Caleb replied in a plain voice.
“WHAT???” I shouted in an astonished tone.
“What are you trying to convey? You are just confusing me!” I said in a flabbergasted tone.
“Okay, I will explain to you what happened from the beginning”, Caleb said in a plain voice.
“Alright, shoot” I replied casually.
“Let me tell you one thing before I start the narration. I am the weakest child of my mom and dad. I mean, you know how strong and powerful my famous triplet brothers are”, Caleb said in a casual tone, and I had to agree.
“Everyone knows that, Caleb” was my other casual reply.
“So, when I was eight years old, I was kidnapped by a group of people”, Caleb said in a serious tone, making sure I knew he was not joking.
“What? You were kidnapped?” I nearly shouted.
“Yeah, when I was coming back from school. Those people took me away.” His tone was still calm.
“Did they kidnap you from your school gate? How dare they! Was there an army of people? How can school authorities let them take you! This is absurd!” I said, dumbfounded.
“Nope, they didn’t fight to take me. They just picked me up from school”, Caleb replied in a casual tone, like nothing serious happened.
“What the f*ck, Caleb! Are you insane? How can you just go out with anyone! You are so damn irresponsible!” I shouted in frustration.
“That’s the interesting part, sister. They picked me up as my father and Beta”, Caleb said with a small chuckle.
“Caleb, are you blind? You were unable to differentiate between your father and other men?” I asked in astonishment.
How can this little brat laugh at a situation like this?
“If you see your father’s face in front of you as a child, you will go with him or ask him why are you here? I saw my father and uncle standing right in front of me, so I went with them”, Caleb replied in a nonchalant tone.
“How can they look exactly like your father and uncle? Were they witches? Or do those leeches have learned some new techniques to look like someone?” I asked in a muddled tone.
“None! They were not witches or vampires. Otherwise, I would have recognized them by their scents”, Caleb replied calmly.
My foolish a*s realized what Caleb was saying was right. He should have recognized them by their scents!
“Yeah, I mean, yeah..! Duh! How could you not then? Who were they?” I asked in a dumbfounded tone.
“The worst of them all! The most sly creature. They were Foxes”, Caleb informed me in a serious tone.
“Foxes?” I repeated after him without knowing.
“Yes. Foxes can take someone’s exact looks as well as they can copy your exact scent too! Hence, I was unable to recognize them”, Caleb informed her.
“If they can copy our looks and scent, then how are we supposed to differentiate between them and us?” I asked in a confused tone.
“Well, as far as I know, wolfsbane is the best way. Wolfsbane burns us. We can’t drink it but when it comes to foxes, just like vampires, they are unharmed by wolfsbane. So, we can differentiate between them and us. You can even throw wolfsbane water on them and if the person is okay, he or she is not a werewolf, simple!” Caleb replied in a casual tone.
“Wow, Caleb, you are a genius!” I said excitedly.
“I know right” Caleb replied in a proud tone.
I was still confused about a lot of things, hence, I decided to keep going with the investigation and asked, “But how did you manage to recognize them when you were kidnapped? What happened after they abducted you?”
“They kidnapped me and took me away in a van. They injected two or three doses of wolfsbane into my system but those stupidos didn’t know my tolerance level. All of us were trained to tolerate higher amounts of wolfsbane from the start. Hence, even though a high amount of wolfbane was in my system, I was not unconscious but I pretended to be knocked out and was waiting for an opportunity”, Caleb informed me in an excited tone.
“Another wow! You are literally awesome.” I was beyond impressed by my little brother.
“Oh, please! You are making me shy sis”, Caleb said shyly.
“What happened next?” My curious little a*s couldn’t help but ask.
“When they were completely sure that a normal werewolf kid can’t take such a high amount of wolfsbane and is unconscious, they changed back into their real form and I saw their real faces. When I looked outside the window, and noticed that we were soon reaching the end of the city, I howled as loud as I could”, Caleb said in an agitated tone, and continued,
“Triplets and others who were outside the pack house, training after school. They heard me and ran towards us for my rescue. Unfortunately, I had no idea about their numbers and they were well prepared. I broke the door and jumped out of it. They followed me. I saw my brothers and pack members moving towards me. Riven was the first one to reach me”, Caleb said, and his tone was becoming low.
I did not utter another word and let Caleb speak everything.
“Riven hid me behind himself and began to fight with them. We were fewer in number and they were much much higher in number. My brothers and my pack members fought with them, killed so many of them. Our pack members also died that day all because of me”, Caleb said in a low, regretful voice.
I know I have to speak otherwise, my brother will blame himself.
“It wasn’t your fault, Caleb. You didn’t know someone was trying to kidnap you and they were going to hurt your pack members”, I said in a polite tone.
“I know but because of me, they kidnapped my brother”, Caleb spoke, his voice broke.
“What? How?” I asked in astonishment.
“When Riven was fighting with them, one of the sly creatures attacked him from behind. They threw wolfsbane on his body as well as injected the highest amount of wolfsbane they had in his system”, Caleb informed me, and I couldn’t speak, as I was beyond taken aback by the news.
“As all of us were preoccupied, some of them took Riven and left in their car”, Caleb added.
“Oh My God!” I covered my face and spoke in barely a whisper.
“This is not even the worst part. They tortured him with all sorts of torturing techniques they knew”, Caleb said, and his voice broke once again.
I was speechless. I didn’t know what to say. Riven was kidnapped and tortured because he tried to save his brother? How can I be so wrong about someone? People were right when they said ‘Never judge a book by it’s cover’. You can never know what is inside someone’s heart.
“Do you still want to know why he is so cold? Why can’t he c*m even after being super rough?”
