Chapter 45 Get rid of her
MIDNIGHT PACK
Ava cussed her mind out as she drove through the road. Sometimes she detests how much control Tommy has over her despite being someone of importance in her clan as well. She had only married him out of the need to protect herself and most importantly for her daughter’s future.
Their relationship had been out of convenience; Tommy was angry and lonely over the betrayal of his dead wife and she was desperate for a stable home. She had been a friend to Elena and had always wanted the life Elena had with Tommy just for the sake of it.
Amelia’s father who is Alpha Adrian had refused to claim Amelia as his daughter since he was already married and being the Alpha it was unheard of that he had indulged in an extramarital affair.
When her clan didn’t meddle in her business or pay attention to her, it made her feel the hurt and practically she had nowhere else to go even though she needed to hide somewhere for the meantime to conform a believable lie.
Being the sweet person she was, Elena had allowed Ava into her family home outside the pack to stay there and she helped to spread the rumor that Elena was engaged to someone who died during her pregnancy. Overtime after the birth of Amelia when she returned, she became jealous of the life Elena had.
There was the urge to do something to her so bad. Her jealousy got the best of her and she began trailing Elena’s movement. To her amusement, she discovered Elena’s secret and she began sending anonymous messages to Tommy about his wife’s infidelity. Tommy had ignored to her disappointment, but Elena did get caught by him on his own.
And Ava had made her move on him the same day Elena got buried. They had gotten married almost immediately after she got pregnant by their one night romp. But unfortunately, she had a miscarriage when she was five months gone.
Despite Tommy attempt at being a good husband to her and trying to love Amelia like his, Ava still doesn’t love him that much. She was fine with the obvious hatred Tommy has towards his daughter cause it gave her own daughter more chance to be loved by him.
Adrian tried to get back to her good book after five years of birthing Amelia. Being hopelessly in love with him, Ava couldn’t help but go back to him but on a condition that he does everything she wanted and that included being a member of the pack council. She was surprised when Adrian didn’t object to her request and it felt like bliss being in his company.
One thing they hadn’t been able to overcome over the years was Tommy being open to her about the source of his wealth even though she had known through Elena. Elena had been clear on wanting her daughter to inherit all of her properties. Being married to Tommy had made her more greedy which made her grow as much hatred as she could muster for Jovy.
When he had called her, all she could hear was him mumbling Jovy’s name. Ava hoped it wasn’t what she was thinking, If Jovy gets to know of the power she possesses over the assets, then that was the end of the luxurious life she planned for herself and Amelia.
Ava swerved roughly into the garage and she practically ran to the elevator. Ava tried to calm herself down and not overthink as she pressed on the floor button number.
“What took you so long?!” Tommy said in a less welcoming tone when she walked into the office.
“You should learn to say hello first. I had a pack council meeting.” A frown creased her face as she settled in the seat opposite him.
“Ok.” He muttered absentmindedly.
“Can you rephrase all that you said on the phone?”
Tommy sighed heavily. “Carlton and his brothers were here about four days ago.”
“Really? We were together at home for days but you never for once mentioned anything to me.”
” I thought I would figure it out on my own before now, but I can’t seem to get any way out. They came for their usual money collection.”
Ava looked blown. She would never understand what Elena’s step brothers had on Tommy to make him extremely submissive towards them. It was one thing she doesn’t know about him and had given up at a point when he kept avoiding the discussion.
“Do you always have to respond to those pests?!” She gritted.
“You will never understand the situation on ground.”
Ava shot him a glare. “If I won’t understand it, why then did you call me?”
“I need your help to think this through Ava. It’s not just for my own good but yours too. I am sure you wouldn’t like to lose the luxury you are getting to enjoy now.”
“What are you insinuating?” She was really getting offended.
He gulped hard. “I need to get rid of Jovy.”
Ava eyes widened in shock. “What?! You want me to kill Jovy on your behalf?!” She whispered.
Tommy shook his head in disagreement. “That isn’t what I meant, but you know exactly what I mean. Jovy needs to be out of the way! She is eighteen now and might get to know of the things we have been trying to hide.”
Ava stood up and began to pace the office with her fiddling fingers. “I hope you aren’t thinking of killing her though?”
“No.” Tommy took a deep breath. “I was just thinking there might be another way around it.
“Yes…Yes…there should be another way.” Thinking for a moment, Ava’s mind went back to what Adrian had told her about Midnight Pack debt and the condition to paying it off.
“I have an idea!” Ava snapped her fingers as she sat back down in a hurry. “Since Jovy isn’t home now that’s great!”
“How is it great?”
“So, at the meeting today, Alpha Adrian said the pack is in an extreme debt and Mystic Shadows Fortress Alpha is willing to forgo it all. But there is a clause.”
“What Clause?”
“The clause is that he wants a bride. If that is being provided then all of the debts will be written off.”
“So?”
Ava growled. “Really Tommy?! Don’t you get it? We can give Jovy away to him and avoid being murderers. And before Jovy gets to know anything, she would be far off away from the pack.”
“No. I won’t give her away. Haven’t you heard of him? Mystic Shadows Fortress Alpha is a beast! He would practically mule her.”
Ava let out a snort. “Like you do any-less. Are you really trying to play nice now?”
“Do you think this will work? Jovy has been gone from home for four days now without any traces. We don’t even know if she will ever return.”
“Jovy has nowhere to go or even the resources to run off. Trust me she will return.”
“When?”
“All we need to do is hire a private investigator if she doesn’t return by the end of the week. If we ever find her, we will send her off…and it will seem more like a punishment for leaving home.”
“It sounds like a good plan.” A smug smile grazed his face.
“Let’s wait it out till the end of the week. I will let the Alpha know we already have someone to help us out.”
Tommy leaned further into the chair. He had no intention of involving Ava in the first place but then he was beginning to run out of time. As much as he hated to admit it, the brothers were right. Jovy’s situation wasn’t different from a child who seeks for revenge for the death of her parents even though she knows nothing of such. Whenever she does find out, she might be uncontrollable.
He had worked too hard to turn the assets into what they are now and he couldn’t let a child that isn’t his to take it all from him in a twinkle of an eye. The first intention was to go gentle on her and send Jovy far away to an unknown land. But Ava’s idea wasn’t so bad, he could keep an eye on her if she was a bit near and that would be saving him from getting his hands soaked in blood again.
Tommy exhaled. “Please do what you have to do Ava. Just ensure Jovy leaves far away from here.” He said to Ava who nodded like an obedient servant.
