Chapter 16 Where is Jovy?
MIDNIGHT PACK
AT THE FINLAY’S HOME
Amelia stomped on the stairs, her mini skirt flipping up as she raked her hand through it. She wanted to break the news so bad to her step father. Last night after she went for the frat party being held by the college boys, she had told Jared insistently that she had seen Jovy and she was certain she had seen her riding a man in the dark.
It pissed Amelia off to think Jovy was in the same space she was and getting a chance at being wooed by a hunk at the party. In her annoyance, she had returned home with the intention to confront her and threaten to expose her to their father as always but it had come as a shock to her when Jovy’s room was empty, the bed was super neat which meant she hadn’t slept in the house at all. Amelia had intended to deal with Jovy in her own way, but instead she had made her roasting easier by sneaking out of the house and not returning on time.
Amelia hissed at the thought of Jovy getting whisked away by a good looking guy from the party. She had always envied Jovy for no reason and it had morphed into hate as years went by. Amelia couldn’t accept the fact that Jovy had a unique beauty to herself and aside that she was brilliant and had the mind to endure whichever situation she finds herself in.
Her personality was what Amelia hated the most. She hated Jovy’s guts too and wouldn’t hesitate to ruin her. Her life was made perfect when she discovered Tommy doesn’t have any hint of affection towards his daughter in his bones. Amelia had been worried her step father would treat her awfully because of the love he would have toward his daughter but instead he had chosen her in place of his child. So for Amelia to keep Tommy Finlay’s attention to herself, she would do anything to ruin Jovy.
“What’s the matter pumpkin?” Tommy asked, raising his head from his phone as he chewed slowly on bacon in his plate.
Amelia didn’t say a word but only slumped into a dining chair with her arms folded across her chest. She was fuming and trying to find the right words to say about Jovy’s absence in the house that would get their father riled up.
Ava also looked up from her plate wondering what was wrong with her. “Are you okay baby?”
“I am not okay.” Amelia mouthed, getting the full attention of her parents.
“What happened overnight? Are you sick honey?” Tommy asked with concern laced in his tone.
Amelia let out a dramatic huff for effect. “I just noticed Jovy had taken a cloth of mine and ran off with it to only God knows where.”
“What?” Ava and Tommy exclaimed at the same time.
“Listen dad, one of my friends in school called this morning to inform me that Jovy had been seen at a frat party hosted by college boys and she went off with a man.” Amelia cooked up the lie even though she had no idea what had actually happened but only holding onto her memory of seeing her step sister at the party.
“She wouldn’t dare!” Tommy hit his fist on the table. “Don’t tell me Jovy isn’t in the house right now and neither is she in school!”
“I must say that she hasn’t returned from the party.” Amelia nodded her head in response for emphasis.
“I can’t believe this!” Tommy said. He stood up and went straight to the Arctic to affirm Amelia’s claim. Ava and her daughter were right behind him as always.
Tommy opened the door to the room, his eyes scanning the area and it was obvious Jovy hadn’t been in that space for hours. Tommy Finlay couldn’t believe it that Jovy had decided to go against his rules by leaving the house without his permission and she slept out to make it worse.
“I am so going to skin her alive.” Tommy blurted out as he balled his fists.

FINLAY HIGH SCHOOL
Alice tapped on the floor with her legs in an anxious state, her thoughts were everywhere and she was beginning to lose her mind. Sitting at the cafe without Jovy next to her seem so absurd. She had remembered telling her clearly to call her whenever she got tired of being at the party and coupled with the fact that her father mustn’t find out of her attending the party so she must return home early.
But Alice had been so engrossed in the party that the thoughts of Jovy didn’t cross her mind until the party had almost been over. She had dialed her friend’s line numerous times but her phone was off. When Alice couldn’t reach and she definitely couldn’t ask Amelia about her sister, she had returned to her own home with the hope of seeing Jovy in school the next day.
But it had come as a bigger shock when all through the first and second period Jovy was nowhere to be found. Alice was beginning to panic for the fear of Jovy’s father catching her for sneaking out of the house and have her locked up. On a second thought, she wondered if Jovy didn’t return home and had not been caught, beaten up and locked by her father again.
Alice stood up from where she sat, she needed to find out if her friend was okay even if she would have to beg the she devil herself, Amelia. Knowing how petty Amelia was, she wouldn’t mind using Jovy’s pain and punishment as a showoff.
As always Amelia was surrounded by her irritable group of friends. They were chewing gums and gossiping away like they always do. As Alice neared the sitting spot, she could tell they were discussing the happening of the frat party from the previous night.
“Shit!” Alice muttered under her breath, knowing if Amelia had been at the party truly and had probably seen Jovy then she would have ratted her out as it was her usual style of life.
“Oh my, oh my. Who do we have here?” Amelia taunted when she sighted Alice.
Alice let out an intentional growl, revealing that her wolf wasn’t in for a petty banter and that made Amelia back down a little but with her head still high up in the air.
“Where is Jovy?” Alice asked with a straight face not bothering to act polite.
“For someone who is here to ask for help, you are really rude.” Amelia replied.
Alice felt the urge to drag the bitch by the hair and drag her roughly on the floor. Taking a deep breath, she decided to keep her cool and looked unfazed.
“I didn’t realize I had to bow before you. Bullshit! I don’t intend to waste both of our time so I will ask just this once again, where is Jovy?” Alice had an intense look on her face, daring Amelia to say one stupid word or act funny then she would have it with her. Everyone in Finlay High knows better not to mess with Alice Clark.
Amelia rolled her eyes and smacked her lips in annoyance. She took a keen interest on her neatly polished nails before throwing her head up to look at Alice after some seconds. “She isn’t home. I will assume she probably ran off with a man.” Amelia added, causing her crew to laugh.
Alice stared wide eyed. “Wait a minute, if Jovy isn’t home and being punished at the moment…then she isn’t back from the party?” She said to no one in particular.
Amelia stood up abruptly with a furrowed eyebrows. “I was right about it! She was at the party and you took her there. You should be handed over to the cops!”
“Just shut the hell up!” Alice bawled her fists which made Amelia shift backwards. “If Jovy isn’t home and has nowhere else to go, then she might be lost.” She gritted. Immediately her eyes bob out of their sockets as the thoughts of Jovy being missing struck her hard.
“Have you tried finding her?” Alice queried.
Amelia let of an irritated scoff as she crossed her arms over her chest. “Do I look that jobless to you? What’s the essence of finding someone as worthless as Jovy? If she decides to never come back then it will be a joyful thing for me.”
Alice stared at her in disgust as she took two steps towards her. “Remind me to rip off your guts when all of this shit is over!” She grimaced in anger.
They both exchanged a stern glare, their wolves howling at each other inwardly before Alice turned her back and stormed out of the cafe. Her thought wheels were rolling out as to where Jovy could be.
