Akira’s Point Of View
“Make sure no one comes in here to disturb him. He needs complete rest,”
“My lady, what about her highness?”
“Are you deaf or dumb? I said make sure no one comes in!”
“Yes, my lady.”
“Now leave!”
I recognized that voice. It’s Alice. I opened my eyes slowly and saw her drawing the window blinds to the side. She turned to me and gasped when she saw I was awake.
“Akira, are you okay?” She asked as she came to sit beside me. I looked around where I was. I was in my room. What happened? Oh, yes. I had an allergic attack and…
Alexa!
I sprang up, ready to rush out but Alice pushed me back to the bed.
“You’re not yet stable. You should stay here to rest longer.”
“I am fine. A little allergy attack can’t do me any harm.”
“Says the person that almost died twenty minutes ago.”
I sighed and ruffled my hair. I got off the bed despite her protest and walked to the door.
“Where are you going?” She demanded.
“To see..”
“Her? The person that almost killed you?”
I frowned. “What the hell are you talking about?”
“She made you the shrimp soup.”
“And you were present while she made it, were you not? You knew I was allergic but you watched as she made it! What the fuck was your aim, huh?” I fired and she flinched.
“I just-”
“Don’t!” I snapped. I pointed my finger warningly at her and said, “you’ve been acting weirdly since you arrived, Alice. Especially toward Alexa and I’d have you know that that woman is my life. Any harm directed toward her is directed to me and I’ll not hesitate to get rid of anyone that’s against her.”
“Akira..”
“Even if the person is you! Don’t let me see you around her or even me if you know what’s good for you.” I said with finality before barging out. I took quick steps down the hallway to her room. I knocked on the door but I got no reply. I was about to knock again when Raya emerged.
“Raya, where is..”
She put her finger across her lips and I stopped talking. She took my hand and pulled me to a corner.
“What’s wrong with you?”
“Her highness is really angry at you.”
“Really?”
“She’s fuming. She might throw a case at you if you enter now.” I huffed and she stepped closer. “You brought this upon yourself. I’d advise you to come back tomorrow but if you’re ready to risk losing your head then you can go in.” She said with an innocent smile. I flicked her forehead and she hissed in pain.
“Good luck.” She whispered before skipping away. I shook my head at her retreating figure and went back to Alexa’s room. I knocked on the door but didn’t get a reply. I’m going in anyway. I turned the doorknob and the door opened. I stepped in and shut the door behind me.
“Alexa?” I called. She was tucked under the sheets, her back facing me. Is she sleeping? I stepped closer and was able to hear her heartbeat. She is not asleep but she is definitely angry. I can feel it.
“Alexa…” I called softly as I touched her shoulder. She shimmered my hand off her and I gulped. I’m in trouble.
“Alexa, please, look at me,” I begged, reaching for her again but I paused. I don’t wanna anger her the more.
“Please, Alexa, I..”
“Can you get out?”
“Alexa…”
“Akira, I’m tired and stressed. It’ll do me and you good if you just leave. Right now. I wanna sleep.”
“I’m not leaving until we talk this out.” I deadpanned. I pushed the blanket off her face and I shifted back in fear. She eat up and her hair fell over her face. She pushed it off her face and sighed deeply.
“Alexa, I’m sorry, I…”
“What are you sorry for?” She demanded.
“Huh?”
“You rushed over here claiming you’re sorry. For what? What did you do?”
“Ale..”
“Don’t fucking call my name!” She fired. “I just…” She let out an exasperated sigh. “Do you just… do you love when I seem like a fool to people? Do you love when I seem like a joke?”
“What do you…”
“Akira, you had an allergic reaction to the soup I prepared. In front of the elders, in front of your mother! I made it for you, I even fed it to you but you didn’t say one word about your allergies.”
“That’s because…”
“I don’t know anything about you. You… you never tell me anything. Alice knew about your allergies, she knows your best colour, she knows what you like and what you hate but… but why…” She threw her head back and sniffled.
“Alexa, my love…”
She brought her head back down. “It’s… it’s frustrating, you know?” She said with quivering lips. “It’s frustrating to try to keep up with you two. You two are like two peas in a pod. You make me feel like I’m the imposter. Like I’m forcing my way between the both of you. Do you know how hard it is to smile genuinely for the past few days?”
“Alexa, listen to me…”
“No, you listen!” She snapped, tears falling down her face. “Yes. Yes, I’m still mad about the fact that we didn’t get to marry. Yes, I’m still mad about the fact that we didn’t consummate our wedding. It still kills me inside every day that people prefer to see your little Alice by your side, instead of me! It’s freaking annoying to see her face every day! It infuriates me every time she belittles me, Akira! It’s… it’s..”
“Shh, shh, Alexa, please. My love, please, it’s okay.” I cooed as I held her in my arms. She shook her head and pushed me off her.
“I need to be alone.”
“No. Alexa, please.”
She sniffled and picked up her blanket.
“Alexa, where are you going?” I demanded but she didn’t answer. She ignored me and walked to the door. With my super speed, I ran to the door and pulled her back.
“Get out of my way.” She said venomously.
“I am not! I won’t let you go out there while you’re completely misunderstanding me. We need to talk this out.”
She eyed me angrily and tried to pass but I blocked her way.
“Akira…. leave…” She said warningly.
“For heaven’s sake, calm the hell down, and let’s talk!”
“Well, I don’t wanna talk and there’s nothing you can do about it!”
I glanced at her legs and saw that they were red and bruised. “What… what happened to you?” I demanded and she quickly covered her thighs with the blanket.
“Nothing.”
“Alexa, what the hell happened to you?”
“I said nothing!”
“For heaven’s sake, woman!” I growled and she flinched. “You’re getting impossible, Alexa! Stop being so fucking stubborn! Tell me what the fuck happened to you! Stop acting so crazy for goodness sake!” I commanded. Her hardened expression softened and her eyes watered. She took a step back and I realized what I just said.
“A.. Alexa…” I held her hand.
“Let me go.” She whispered under her breath.
“Please, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that, I…”
“LET… ME… GO!” She thundered and I felt the ground shake beneath my feet. A strong force swung me from the front of the door across the room. My back met with the hard wall with full force.
“Fuck,” I winced as I tried to stand. I looked ahead and realized Alexa was no longer in the room. I stood up and looked down. The floor was cracked. What was that right now?
Alexa’s Point Of View
I climbed down the stairs and went out of the palace. I was clad in just a short nightgown, the cold air of the night hit my naked skin but that didn’t hurt as bad as my heart was aching. That asshole!
That bastard!
I told him what was paining me in my heart and he called me crazy. He didn’t understand me. I thought he would. Despite all I said, he only saw me as a stubborn, crazy, and jealous lover. He might as well make Alice his Luna since I’m too crazy to be one. I walked to the wall leading to the secret garden and I opened the door. I stepped into the garden and went to sit on the flower swing.
I wrapped the blanket around my body and buried my head in my folded knee.
“Alexa,” I heard Cyan call. I looked up and looked around. He wasn’t around.
“Are you okay?” He asked and I shook my head.
“I feel like shit,” I said. I buried my head between my knee and sighed.
“Argued with your alpha?”
“How did you know?”
“You two don’t know how loud you were. You have no idea.”
I sniffed and sighed. “I just wanna get some air. I feel suffocated.”
“Did he do something?”
“He called me crazy.”
“Ah… wow. Do you want me to come?”
“No. I prefer to be alone right now. I might feel more suffocated if you show up.”
“Alright. You should go in soon. It’s cold outside.”
“I will. Thanks, Cyan.”
“Anytime.”
He went off and I sighed. I don’t feel like going back in there.
He should have told me.
He should have said he was allergic to shrimp. Now the elders would think I don’t prioritize the safety of their alpha. Word would circulate tomorrow and the people will doubt me more. And Alice. She’ll look like the hero and I’ll be the Luna who almost killed their alpha. It was her plan all along.
She testified to Akira loving shrimps. She could have stopped me but she didn’t. Just so she can have the favor, she put Akira in danger. That two-faced bitch!
“Alexa?”
Hearing Xena’s voice, I looked up. She was sitting opposite me.
“X… Xena?”
She stared at me expressionlessly. “What happened to you?”
“What are you doing here?” I demanded.
“It was your pet. He came into my room, panicking as if you were in hot water or something.”
“Oh..”
“I kinda figured out you’d be here when I couldn’t find you anywhere.” She said and I smiled bitterly.
“Thank goodness you let me know this place because if I didn’t, I might have left the palace tonight.”
“So what’s wrong with you?”
I bit my lower lip. “I let her get to me.”
She leaned back. “Who? Alice?”
I nodded regretfully. “Yeah.”
“I heard about what happened at dinner tonight. Is that why you’re angry?”
I nodded. “Yeah. I wouldn’t have been this angry if Akira had just told me he was allergic to shrimp. I mean… he made it seem as if it was the best dish he had ever tasted when I fed it to him. If I knew he was allergic, I wouldn’t have prepared it for dinner. And he even called me crazy when I complained to him.” I hissed. I looked at Xena and she looked bored with my complaint.
“What? Do you think I’m crazy too?”
She shook her head. “I just think you’re dumb.”
“What do you mean?”
“Did you hear Akira’s explanation?”
“No, he didn’t even explain.”
“Did you give him the chance to explain?”
“I… well uh… maybe?”
She raised her brow and I sighed. “No,” I muttered.
“And you expected him to explain? Akira doesn’t know how to cut in between arguments to explain himself. He’d expect the second party to calm down before he does. Then he’ll explain himself.”
I looked at my feet guiltily. “Well… he…”
“He nothing. Yes, he was wrong for not telling you about his allergies but I’m sure he didn’t mean anything bad by not telling you. I’m sure he didn’t want you to feel bad.”
She patted my hair and said, “how about you go in now and have a nice night’s rest? When you wake up tomorrow, you go to him and you two will clear up the misunderstanding.”
I nodded and she smiled. “Good. I better not hear any noise again from you two tonight. You almost brought the walls of the house down.”
“Huh?”
“Didn’t you feel it? The earthquake.”
“Earthquake?”
She nodded. “The ground shook for some seconds while you were arguing.”
Huh?
The ground shook?
And I didn’t notice?
