RAVEN PACK
Raga’s Point Of View
“My Lord!” I got on my knees in respect in front of him.
“And why are just just returning?” He asked as he drew in smoke from the tobacco in his hands.
“I… we lost her. We lost her to the man.”
He faced me and I lowered my gaze. “So? Did you find out who he is?”
“N.. no, my Lord but he… he is a wolf.” He raised his brow.
“A wolf strong enough to take down five of the best vampires in the pack?”
I nodded. “I also couldn’t believe it. His wolf was huge. Bigger than any wolf I’ve ever seen before. He was of two colours, red and white.”
I left Alexa with my men to go check out a safe route for us to pass. I did not expect that they would go into blood lust. It was her scream I heard that made me come running. I did not expect that I would behold an amazing sight.
His wolf was huge. Has huge as ten regular wolves combined. It was a fascinating sight – him tearing the vampires into pieces with just one blow. I knew if I joined them, I’d meet the same fate so I hid. I hid in a tree. I watched as he killed the attackers and carried Alexa so gently but protectively.
I could tell he was ready to die protecting her.
“Did you say red and white?” I nodded and he burst into an amused laugh.
“Wow! I never expected this.” His laugh died down and he went over to sit on the couch.
“So he took the girl?” He asked and I nodded.
“I’m sorry, my Lord.”
“You’ve failed me once again, Raga. If you were someone else, I would have killed you the first time you disappointed me but you’re Raga. You’re still useful.”
“I’m honoured, My Lord.”
“But you might not have that advantage later though.” He said and I gulped.
“What should I do about Alexa, My Lord?” I asked him and he grunted. My heart beat heavily as I anticipated his reply.
“Let her be,”
In shock, I raised my head and I met his gaze. I quickly lowered my head and he chuckled.
“For now.” He said. “let her be for now.”
“But-”
“To catch a rabbit, you have lure it out if it’s hole, not dive in.” He said. “And besides, you’ve tried, have you not? You should rest.”
He’s not that considerate. What could he be planning in that evil head of his?
“Yes, My Lord.”
He waved his hand in dismissal and I stood up. I bowed one last time and exited his room. I let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding when I got out.
I should figure out what he’s planning to do because whatever it is, it ain’t gonna be good. I really hope that wolf will be able to protect her because I’m not sure for how long Darco is going to sit by and watch her escape his grasp.
WHITE MOUNTAIN PACK
Alexa’s Point Of View
“What is Ace?” I asked Raya.
“He went out.”
I frowned. “Out? Did he tell Akira?”
“He told no one. I just happened to see him when he was leaving.”
I sighed. “Did it seem as if he was leaving for good?”
She shook her head. “No.” She sounded unsure. “I don’t know but he’s possibly going to come back home tonight.”
I nodded. “You can leave me here. I’ll just look around the palace. You also look like you need a good rest.” I said and she shook her head.
“I’m not sleepy, I’m fine.” She said and I raised my brow.
“Okay. Maybe I’m a little sleepy but I can manage.”
“Gosh! Just go and rest. We both know you wanna.”
She grinned sheepishly and bowed. “Thank you so much.”
She squealed as she skipped happily down the stairs. I shook my head. “She’s such a character.”
Akira went out in the morning in pack business. I don’t think he’ll be back anytime soon. I walked down the hallway and admired the paintings mounted on the wall. I was passing by a bronze door when I heard some straining noises coming from the room.
“Is everything okay?” I asked and the groans increased. The person sounded like they were in immense pain and could die anytime soon. Without thinking, I barged into the room and saw Xena on the ground. Face red, clutching onto the side of her neck as she cried in pain.
“Xena!” I screamed in horror and I went to her on the ground. I carried her to sit up and I took her hands off her neck.
“Oh my goodness!” I exclaimed. Xena’s neck had a bite mark and it wasn’t just any bite mark. A vampires. It looked like an old mark and it was very red. It looked like it was been scratched countless times.
“Xena, what’s going on? What… what is this?” I asked but she couldn’t reply. She kept pointing to something. I traced the direction of her finger and it landed on a wardrobe. I quickly went to it and opened it.
“What should I do?” I asked panicky.
“The… the dagger,” she managed to say and I quickly picked up the dagger and rushed to her. She snatched it from me and put it up to her neck. In shock, I smacked it off her hand.
“What are you doing?!” She shrieked.
“I should be asking you the same question! I don’t know what the hell you’re going through but suicide is not the answer!”
“I’m doing this to live, goddammit! Ahh!!” She screamed and fell to the ground, shaking vigorously.
“Xena!”
I quickly picked up the dagger and aimed it on the burning scar. “Gosh, I hope I’m not making this worse!”
Closing my eyes, I slashed the scar horizontally and Xena let out an agonizing scream. I opened my eyes to see what I had done. Thick red blood gushed out of the scar and I tore my gown to wrap it around it. I hissed in pain when the blood touched my finger. It was so hot that it burned my finger.
“You’re okay, you’re okay.” I said as I patted her back. Her breathing became more steady as she calmed down. I went over to the bathroom and got water into a small bowl to clean her wound.
“Do you have a first aid kit?” I asked and she nodded and pointed weakly to a corner. I went over to it and picked it up. I cleaned her wound with clean water and a rag and disinfected it. When I was done, I bandaged it and went over to wash my hands and the tools I used.
When I returned, she was already sitting on the bed. Her hair stuck to her sweat filled face.
“Are you okay?” I asked as I sat beside her. She turned away from me and I sighed.
“Leave.” She said and I scoffed.
“That is not how to treat someone who just saved your life.”
She turned to me with a hardened gaze and I raised my brow challengingly. “what? I’m right. If I wasn’t around, you would have been dead.”
“Nice, now leave.”
“Carry me out then.”
I huffed in frustration and I smirked. “Does it still sting?”
She shrugged. “A little.”
I cleared my throat. I really wanna ask how she got that bite mark but I’m sure she would snap at me like a male wolf under heat.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” She asked.
“Huh?”
“Like you have something to say.”
“Um… well… since you asked…”
“What?”
“How did you get that mark?” I asked and she looked away from me.
“A dog.”
“Oh please!” I rolled my eyes. “You mean a dog as tall as you are but you on your neck? Or you were sleeping in the middle of a forest and a dog mistook you for bone?” I said sarcastically. “Both of us know that that bite mark belongs to a vampire so tell me, who did this to you? Does anyone except me know about this? Does Akira know?” At the mention of Akira, she grew tense.
“No one knows.”
“O… okay. Then… then why does it sting so much? A normal vampire bite mark would kill you.”
“That’s if you’re sucked dry.” She said and I rolled my eyes.
“You are in no position to correct me.” I told her and she hissed.
“Whatever.”
“Who did this?”
“I don’t know. I… I couldn’t see his face. It was dark.”
“You… you should tell someone about this. Someone who can help you. Do you want to keep living like this? How many times does it happen?”
“It just itches mildly most of the time. A little balm works everytime but it gets worse like this if it gets swelled up with blood.”
“Ah,” I murmured in understanding.
“Now that you’ve satisfied your curiosity, please leave my room now.”
“I’m not done.”
She groaned in displeasure but I’m still gonna talk anyway. “How about we both go see a doctor. You know, see if there’s anything they can help you with. Who knows when this will happen again? What if there is no one nearby to help?” I asked worriedly.
“Don’t act as if you care. Just leave.”
“Xena..”
“Go!” She snapped and I flinched. Damn! She’s worse than an alpha in heat. I stood up and walked to the door.
“Just make sure you rest. You’re not in a good shape Xena. Seek help.” I said and left her room. Great heavens, that was scary. It could have been worse if I wasn’t nearby. Or should I ask Akira? He should know what to use to something like this.
What am I even saying? It’s not as if Akira has ever sucked blood from a person.
Or has he?
I shook off the thought. He hasn’t. I’m sure he hasn’t. I glanced at Xena’s door one last time to make sure she was okay. I should get her something to eat.
I branched to the kitchen to see if I could make her anything. I decided to make her scrambled eggs and strawberry milkshake. I arranged them in a tray and took them up to her room. I knocked on her door.
“Xena?” I called but she didn’t come to open the door. “Xena.”
No reply came again. What could make her open the door?
“Akira is back.” I said and the door opened almost immediately. I looked over my shoulder and hissed in disappointment.
“What do you want?”
“I brought you food.” I said, motioning to the tray of food I was carrying. She looked down at it and rolled her eyes.
“I’m not hungry.” She said in dismissal and proceeded to close the door but I blocked it with my foot.
“Thanks for letting me in.” I said as I walked in fully.
“Gosh why didn’t I notice how chaotic your room was?” I said as I placed the tray on a stool. Her room was really messed up.
“There is no way you’re eating in this mess.” I said and she shrugged. She went over to the tray and picked up the glass of milkshake. She took a long sip and gulped it down.
“I’m eating either way.”
I shook my head and went over to take the broom. As I swept and arranged her room, Xena remained on the bed, slurping her drink and chewing on her eggs. If not for the fact that I can’t stand dirtiness, I’d leave it be.
“A person shouldn’t be thus dirty. Dirtiness shoo goodness away.” I said and she chuckled.
“Goodness never come my way. Whether I’m dirty or cleaner than the moon goddess.”
I shook my head and went over to sit beside her. I saw that she didn’t finish her food.
“Why? Are you full?” I asked and she nodded.
“You can eat it or whatever. I don’t care.” She said nonchalantly and I eyed her teasingly.
“Why don’t you just admit that you felt guilty for making me clean your room so you left some for me?”
She rolled her eyes and I laughed. She’s actually cute when trying to act tough.
