Alexa’s Point Of View
The vampire has been out for two days now. When we arrived two days ago, he ordered the maids to prepare dinner for me and he disappeared after that, promising to be back in three days. I’ve not been seeing his repulsing face for two days. Thank the moon goddess for that.
He didn’t leave me without making sure he kept all eyes on me. By all eyes, I meant Xena’s eyes. He claimed she was here to protect me but I knew better. I don’t think he knows I don’t like this chic. Or he knows but he just finds joy in annoying me. I paused in my tracks and cast a glare at “my bodyguard”.
“What?” She questioned, returning my glare.
“Don’t you get tired of following me everywhere? I’m just going to take a walk,”
“Believe me, I detest this as much or probably more than you do.”
“Then..”
“But alpha personally begged me to watch you.” She smirked, probably feeling smug because her alpha ‘begged’ her. “Even if he didn’t, I would have still kept a close eye on you.” She said, turning to face me. Her blue orbs held no ounce of warmth. “I don’t trust a wolfless outsider,” She taunted, her brows cocked as if waiting for me to retort.
I simply turned away from her and kept on walking. ‘wolfless’. I’m numb to that. She doesn’t trust me, huh? If anything, she’s more suspicious than I am. Only heaven knows what she was chatting with that weird man about. Gosh, I said I wouldn’t mind that. It’s not my pack. I’m leaving anyway.
I stopped walking and looked at her over my shoulder, my head held high. “What are you standing over there doing? You should follow your mistress, should you not? That’s your job anyway,”
Her eyes flared furiously and I felt so satisfied seeing that expression on her face. Her lips parted, ready to talk before Riaz interjected.
“Alexa!” He beamed and I returned his smile. I gave Xena one last demeaning look before walking toward Riaz.
“You look like you are going somewhere,” I stated in my observation.
“Yeah, I just finished answering Luna mother.”
(Luna Mother – the title given to the mother of the alpha after the alpha gets mated. The Luna has more authority than Luna Mother.)
“What disrespect!” Xena fired. “Queen Elena is still our Luna.”
“But Alexa is alpha’s mate,” Riaz said timidly.
“No one’s accepted her yet. They haven’t even had a mating ceremony. She is nothing but a visitor. Not our Luna, not our mistress,” she emphasized the last sentence.
“S… sorry,”
I hated the way she made Riaz feel. His eyes were glistening with tears. I pulled Riaz to my side protectively and pointed at Xena. “Corrections are made softly. Must you fire at him?”
“A warrior doesn’t waver just because a superior raised their voice. He’s merely weak,” she spat, making me even angrier.
“No, you’re wrong. He is strong. Even stronger than you if I might add.” I told her, taking a step closer to her. “A strong person doesn’t necessarily mean a mean, arrogant and loud person like you. It’s okay to be timid and it’s okay to be emotional. It’s all part of being strong. The weak person is you! Hiding your fears behind this tough, mean facade you put on!” I said all in one breath that by the time I finished, I was gasping for breath.
I looked at her face. Her expression hardened. More like she looked hurt.
“Wow,” a thick voice came from behind, catching my attention. I turned and found Ace and surprisingly, Akira staring at us as they leaned on the hallway wall. Ace was looking impressed while Akira kept a straight face.
“We would have missed this scene if we had stayed back, you know?” Ace said to Akira, who kept his eyes on me, not saying a word. I looked down at Xena’s hand. Her grip on her sword was so tight. Without a word, she turned around and walked away, her boots clicking angrily as she exited.
I was so lost I didn’t notice Riaz had left my hand. I turned to him and found him staring at his feet in embarrassment.
“What happened?” Ace asked as he approached us with Akira.
“Nothing much,” I replied. Ace turned to Riaz and asked, “you cried?”
For some reason, Riaz couldn’t meet Ace’s eyes.
“Are you okay?” Ace asked again. Riaz nodded bashfully, his ears turning red. Ace was about to say something when Riaz turned to me and bowed.
“Thank you, Alexa,” he rushed his words and scurried away. I turned to Ace and found him staring at Riaz’s retreating figure.
What is this I’m sensing?
“How was your trip?” I asked Ace.
“Fun,” he replied, turning to me.
“Fun? I thought you said you went for pack business,”
“What’s business without a little bit of fun, eh? I never knew the girls in the outskirts could be so beautiful.” He said dreamingly. “Not as beautiful as you though,” he added with a wink and I grinned. Suddenly, the air around us went cold.
Ace turned to Akira and shuddered. “jeez, I was just joking,”
Akira didn’t seem to like his joke. His glare was as though he was killing and burying Ace in his head. Akira turned away from him and took my hand.
Without saying anything, he pulled me along with him.
“Bye, princess!” Ace yelled after me.
“Bye!” I yelled back. I don’t know if it was my yell but Akira’s grip on my wrist became tighter. I was beginning to hurt.
“Slow down!”
He didn’t slow down. He pulled me up the stairs and into the first room we encountered on the left. He pulled me in and slammed my back on the door violently, making me let out a fearful yelp.
“W… what’s wrong with you?” I asked fearfully.
“Your smile,” he growled lowly, audible to just me.
“My smile?”
He pushed his body closer to mine, and in turn, pulled me closer to him by my waist. I felt waves of electricity shoot up my spine and my belly kicked in excitement.
What is this?
Why am I loving this?
“Yes,” he whispered against my lips. “Your smile is only for me,” he said, more like declared and I dared not protest.
His eyes were the color of sunset, they were dangerous. But I loved the way they took me in like I was the only being in the world.
I didn’t want to give in.
“What if I smile at other men?” I challenged, lifting my chin.
“You don’t want to try that, Alexandra.”
His velvety voice caressed my ear. I itched to hear him call my name with such dominance again.
“You’re mine, Alexandra, never forget that,” he ordered and I knew I would never forget it. I won’t ever forget it but I will not admit it.
Not in this life, not in the next.
