The cars were ready to take David and his daughter to the airport, which added to his list of things to be relieved about. He wasn’t sure if he would come back alive or dead but what he knew was that, even if he died, as long as his daughter was alive there was still a chance for his company. He had already given his testament to his lawyers concerning his will. Everything about the company and his assets were in the testament and he trusted his lawyers to do their job of making sure that his will was fulfilled after he was no more. As for the company, he left it in charge of his trusted deputy, Mr. Merah, until he returned. He left Mr. Ken, in charge of his family house in case he didn’t come back alive. With all these settled, his only focus was on the journey to Greene City. Their flight was booked for later that evening and he made sure that he and his daughter were on their way to the airport, much earlier than that.
After they had boarded the plane, it took off and began to fly in the air, amidst the clouds. Heaving a sigh of relief, David looked at his daughter, who was sitting by his left. She was a sweet young girl who didn’t deserve to experience anything bad or see how bad the world was. Even though he sounded inconsiderate, it was what he wanted for his daughter. If she was constantly exposed to the corrupt world around her, she could have turned out to be someone unpleasant and wasted. Yet, he chose to project her from all that.
David placed his hands on hers and she turned to look at him with an expressionless face. The hazel color of her iris seemed to have a piercing effect on him at that moment. Her heart shaped lips widened into a smile and she gently placed her second hand on his.
“Are you alright?” he asked, looking for answers in her eyes.
“I-I am. Don’t w-worry too m-much a-about me, Dad,” she smiled.
“I know. You are my strong little girl,” he smiled and held her hand tight. She giggled and nodded slightly. “Always remember that I love you.”
“I-I know,” she said with a perfect smile. He felt warm on the inside of him after watching her grin.
“I see that you’ve gotten better at your speech,” he had almost forgotten that he had employed a teacher to train her on her speech.
“Elyia has b-been t-teaching me w-well,” she turned to her bag and brought out her Ipad.
She unlocked the tablet and clicked on an app with her index finger. After scrolling through a range of saved documents, she handed the tablet over to him. “She t-taught me h-how to p-ronounce one and t-two s-yllabled w-words at once.”
“Wow…that’s amazing. You’ve been doing hard work all these while,” he said, looking at the notes and recordings that his daughter had made while practicing.
“She also t-taught me how to p-pronounce a n-name with-without s-stammering,” she said and then her smile dried slowly, “but I-I am still s-struggling with t-them.”
“You’ve come this far, darling and I trust that you won’t back down,” he said, looking at her.
“I won’t,” Ava replied with a grin.
David drew her face closer and kissed her on the forehead. He only wished that he could live longer but as a seer, it was his destiny to die in his 50’s. Other seers usually died younger than 50 years but the maximum years required for all seers to live was 59 and after that, they were to get ready to be killed by anything or anyone. He was 55 years and apart from the terrible dreams that he had been having, his death was part of the dreams. He wasn’t ready to remember the words that the Master Seer had told him in the dream about his death and after the words, he saw it happen before his eyes. That was why he didn’t want to take any chances. It was better to die after being prepared than to die without preparation.

When they walked out of the airport with their bags, David had a strange feeling on the inside of him. Greene City was one of the most beautiful and successful cities among the others but the level of internal war and dangerous groups was stupendously high. The Mutant hunters in every nook and corner of the city, constantly searching and hunting down Mutant Assassins. The Blue Skeletals were fighting the government and taking violent control over some towns. The Mutant Assassins were struggling to keep their profile low in the midst of the chaos caused by the two majority groups. Now, David was in the City with his daughter, seeking the help of a Mutant Assassin whose species was being hunted and killed by both the Mutant hunters and Blue Skeletals.
As he got into the taxi with Ava, the sudden feeling of fear overwhelmed him. In order to relieve himself of that overwhelming feeling, he sighed and held Ava’s hands in the car, while the driver sped off to their destination. He was a special figure in the business world and he had connections everywhere. So, it wasn’t hard for him to contact someone in Greene City ahead of time and tell the person to prepare a room or hotel for his arrival. When they had stepped out of the airport, the driver was holding a placard with their name on it. That way, he knew that the taxi driver was legit but he couldn’t get the strange feeling of fear out of his whole being. Something bad was definitely going to happen and before then, he was going to make sure that the gray-eyed assassin was aware of his arrival.
