Chapter 456 Sweety Is In Trouble

Book:My Most Precious Wife Published:2024-5-1

Terry finally succumbed to the effects of the alcohol. He fell asleep quickly when Emily laid him on the bed. However, he was unwilling to let go of her hand as he slept.
Emily waited for him to fall asleep before she could pry her hand away from his grip. She stared at him as he slumbered; he had a smile on his face. He looked so happy and content like a little child.
When she was with Terry, she felt something more for him. They were not lovers; it was more like a familial bond. She had gotten too used to him, but she was unsure if they could be husband and wife.
Maybe she could give it a shot.
She went to her desk to switch on her laptop. It was her habit to check on her emails. Both of her previous scripts had won awards, and the most recent one had won a prestigious prize, which was worth a million bucks.
However, she had never dared to show up because of the past. Could she stay hidden forever? Joe said that that person was still looking for her…
Emily’s consciousness drifted for a few seconds as a chilling figure flashed in her mind. His eyes, voice, and silhouette were so cold that it could send a chill down to one’s fingertips.
People said that time could heal all wounds. However, her heart still ached whenever she thought of him. She almost could not bear it.
‘Stop thinking about him. We should be living our own lives now!’
She stared at her hands and clenched her fists tightly before she released them. It was time to lead a new life.
For Terry’s sake, for her children, and herself.

Joe stayed with them for three days, which allowed them to give their nanny a short break.
On the fourth day, Joe had to leave.
“If I don’t head back, Lois and the others will start to suspect something.” Joe had wanted to bring his other friends with him; they had not seen September Media’s founder for more than two years.
Even though they had stressful and busy days, they were also happy because they were together. They even ate and slept at the office for several days straight.
After Emily and Terry left, their team seemed to have lost their soul.
“If it is at all possible, come back soon.” Joe stared at Emily; his expression was one of sorrow.
“Don’t worry; we’ll be back soon. As long as…” Terry gently hugged Emily in his arms. He was used to indifference, but he was all smiles during the past two days.
“After we have adapted to this new life, we will come back.”
Joe knew what he meant when he said ‘this new life.’
Ever since Terry confessed his feelings to Emily, they were much closer to each other. Joe had noticed that, and he knew that Terry had been successful with that.
“Adapt quickly, will you?” Joe winked at Terry.
“Quit being so nosy and go check if you have left anything behind.” Terry did not bother with his question.
“I’m a man; I don’t have much stuff. As long as I have my ID and cellphone, nothing else matters.” However, he still checked the contents of his bag. If he did leave something behind, it would be troublesome for them to mail it to him.
The two men went back into the room, but they did not know what they should search for. Emily had fed her children when the main door opened.
“Is that you, Billie?” She had impeccable timing; they were just about to send Joe to the airport.
“Hmm.” Billie nodded as she changed her shoes and headed into the kitchen.
Emily frowned. Billie was usually very talkative. Why did she not say a word that day? She did not even greet the children when she arrived.
Emily followed Billie into the kitchen and noticed her at the kitchen sink. She stood there as if she was petrified.
Emily walked to her. “Billie?”
Billie was shocked by her sudden appearance that she almost cried out in surprise.
“Ma… Madam, did you want something?” She was still in shock.
“Nothing. I’m just wondering what you are doing. Are you not feeling well? Do you need to see a doctor?” Emily was a little worried about her.
“It’s nothing. I was just lost in thoughts. Really.”
Billie took a deep breath and sighed. Finally, she cheered up a little and said with a smile, “Aren’t you leaving for work, Madam? It’s almost time, and you’d better hurry. Leave Sweety to me.”
“Alright, look after Sweety, please. We have to take our friend to the airport.”
Emily noticed that they were pressed for time, and so she immediately left the kitchen.
Billie stared at her as she walked out, and her eyes gradually narrowed. No one knew what was in her mind.
Terry had to send Chester to kindergarten before he drove Joe to the airport with Emily.
“How did you manage to get Chester accepted into kindergarten at such a young age?” asked Joe.
Kindergartens usually only accept children who were at least three years old and were mature enough to handle specific tasks.
However, Chester was only a little more than a year old.
“We arranged for Chester to have an interview with the principal. His ability to handle himself far exceeded the average three-year-olds. So, the principle accepted him.”
Joe nodded.
Chester’s IQ far exceeded that of an average three-year-old. One might even say he was as advanced as a five-year-old.
The child was a genius, just like his father.
Joe shook his head and almost gave himself a smack on the face. Why would he think about Chester’s relation with Hunter? It was something he should never bring up again.
After they reached the airport, Terry had to watch as the two other friends were reluctant to leave each other, and so he pushed Joe into the crowd. Then both of them left the airport.
“I still have much to talk about; there was not enough time. Why must he leave in such a hurry?”
“What else is there to talk about, have you not been harassed enough for the last three days?”
That person was a chatterbox, and he could not stop talking. He must have talked more in the past three days than he ever did in the past two years.
“We haven’t seen each other in two years. Of course, there were lots to talk about with each other. How could you complain about that?”
Emily rolled her eyes at him. If everyone else had so few words like him, would life not be incredibly dull?
“We’ll talk the next time we see each other.”
Terry sent her to the office. Emily, who had already put on her ugly makeup, got down and quickly disappeared into the crowd.
She was still busy with work that day. She finally had some free time at around noon.
She habitually took out her cell phone and switched to the baby monitor channel at home. She wanted to see if Sweety was a good girl.
However, she did not see Sweety and Billie in the living room or the bedroom.
Did they go out?
However, Sweety’s baby stroller was still parked neatly in the corner of the living room.
Emily suddenly felt uneasy as she recalled Billie’s behavior that morning. As she continued to stare at the baby monitor footage, she got more and more anxious.
She immediately called Billie’s cell phone number, but it could not be reached! What had happened?
Sweety was supposed to nap for an hour at noon, but they were not at home. She continued to call Billie’s cell phone, but she still could not get through to her.
Finally, she called Terry. “Terry, Sweety and Billie… I think they’re in trouble.”
