It was something about his grandmother!
Hunter sat on the sofa and stared at the door. Liam only hesitated for a brief moment before he waved his hand. The two bodyguards let Wendy through to the office.
“I don’t have time to listen to your nonsense.” Hunter looked irritable and unapproachable. Wendy could not get closer to him.
Wendy had wanted to try to change his mind, but she knew that it was impossible. So she decided to go straight to the point.
“Eldest Young Master Jackson, I have 25 percent of Gale Corporation’s shares. I want to make a deal with you.”
“You got those shares illegally, and they will take it from you soon. What do you have to trade with me?”
As she had expected, Hunter became impatient with her. He lit a cigarette and glanced at the watch on his wrist.
“I can still make transactions with the shares now, but I know that I won’t be able to do that soon.”
Wendy knew that time was not on her side. She needed to get a large sum of money before she escaped.
“Eldest Young Master Jackson, if you trade with me, I will sell them to you at a low price.”
Hunter said nothing. Wendy wasted no time and immediately made an offer. “One billion!”
“I know you’ll have a way to handle it. You can sell those shares in the shortest time possible. I’m only asking for one billion, that’s not much.”
“Porter paid ten million for five percent, and you are asking me for one billion for 25 percent. Really?”
Hunter snorted coldly; he was not interested in her offer at all. Wendy was taken aback; he had known about that!
“I won’t want your shares. It belongs to the Gale family.”
“Aren’t you dealing with the Gale family? Eldest Young Master Jackson, why did you change your mind? Was it because of Emily?”
Wendy did not know anything about the feud between Hunter and the Gale family. She was sure that there was hate between them!
“Are you giving up so soon? Can you let go of the past?”
Hunter’s eyes sank, and his fingers tightened around the cigarette. He could not let go of the past!
Something had happened to Emily, and she had yet to be found, so for the last few days, he was so panicked that he almost lost his sanity. It made him lose track of what he was supposed to do. He wanted revenge! How could he let go of the hatred quickly?
When Emily exposed her identity, the Gale family could finally press charges against Wendy. That had helped with the Gale Corporation’s crisis. They still had to deal with the trunk line contract with Jackson Corporation.
If Gale Corporation decided to pull out from the contract, they would be liable for a high compensation fee, which would be a massive blow to the company. Gale Corporation would not survive if its shares dropped at that time.
Wendy knew that her words resonated with him. She bit her lower lip, and she said, “I’ll only ask for one hundred million!”
One hundred million was enough for her to live extravagantly while she went into hiding. She would not be able to escape if she stayed longer.
She could not look for anyone else. That s*umbag, Porter, could not sell her shares fast enough. Hunter might be the only person who could do that for her.
“Eldest Young Master Jackson, I am not greedy. I just want to make my life better. I…”
“Why should I make your life easier?”
Hunter spun around and stared at her face. His indifferent gaze looked calm, but there were stormy emotions in his eyes that would make anyone uneasy.
“The video about how Joseph and Emily were drugged. Were you the one who took the video?”
“I…” Wendy panicked. She did not expect that Hunter would still think of that b*tch!
“They… I did not drug them. It was Sasha.”
She felt cold under Hunter’s stare, but she had told the truth.
“I took the video, but…Sasha was the one who drugged them.”
Hunter walked toward her. Wendy knew that she would not be able to seduce him. She was nothing to him. He had treated her well, but he only did it out of pretense.
“Eldest Young Master Jackson, I… I don’t understand… Why do you still care about Emily? You have a grudge with the Gale family, and Emily is Old Master Gale’s granddaughter!”
Hunter stopped abruptly in his tracks. Wendy’s breathing labored. One could feel the breath of death when Hunter stared at them.
“Eldest Young Master Jackson…”
“I won’t touch Gale Corporation’s shares. Get out!”
Hunter turned around and walked to the window to look at the cloudy sky. He had been so anxious for the last three days. It was only then that he realized Emily was his enemy’s granddaughter! Had he forgotten how his grandmother had suffered?
Wendy was desperate. Yet, she knew that there was nothing she could do as she stared at his cold back. He was not someone who would go back on his words. He said he would not touch those shares, and that was it. No one could change his decision.
At least she still had ten million dollars on hand. When she thought about that, Wendy dared not remain in the room. Just as she walked to the door, she recalled something. She turned around to look at his cold but attractive figure. Wendy was upset! Why could she not have the man that everyone wanted? If she could not have him, then he could never belong to the b*tch, Emily!
“Eldest Young Master Jackson, don’t forget that Emily is related to your enemy. If you continue to search for her, do you not care about the person who the Gale family had hurt?”
“Get lost!”
Wendy left. She knew that had she stayed, Hunter would do something to make her regret her decision. She could not remain in City L. She would spend her remaining years in prison if she stayed.
“Eldest Young Master…” Liam went to Hunter after Wendy left.
He wanted to make sure that Wendy did not influence Hunter, but it seemed like the damage was done.
“Eldest Young Master, the matter with the Gale family…”
“It is up to Porter to do whatever he wants.”
That meant he would not intervene even if Gale Corporation suffered a substantial loss.
“Eldest Young Master Jackson, even if it benefits us in the end, it is detrimental to our reputation.”
Honesty was an essential virtue in business, especially for large corporations like theirs.
They knew that it was a trap and yet they allowed the other party to fall in it. Once that was done, however profitable it might have been, their reputation would be bruised. Furthermore, they had done it to the City L’s Gale family, whom everyone thought was a decent family.
Fifth Young Master Jackson did that to get some profit, but it was not something beneficial to the Jackson Corporation in the long run. Would Eldest Young Master Jackson really not intervene?
“Since I didn’t get involved in the beginning, then I won’t do so in the future.” Hunter sounded cold.
He turned around to look at Liam, and Liam noticed how cold and unapproachable the man had been.
“Withdraw the search party. There’s no need to look for her anymore.”
