Chapter 405 She Is Your Real Cousin

Book:My Most Precious Wife Published:2024-5-1

Joseph went to the hospital early in the morning. He did not expect to see a familiar figure at the door to the laboratory right after he submitted the test.
It was Wendy.
“Eldest Cousin Brother, what brought you to the hospital this early? Are you alright?” Wendy showed him an elegant smile.
Joseph narrowed his eyes at her; he could not read her mind at the moment.
“I’m slightly unwell, so I came for a check-up.” He said coldly, the smile he usually wore on his face had vanished.
Wendy kept her smile and said, “Eldest Cousin Brother, I don’t think you’re here for a check-up?”
“Wendy, what are you trying to say?” Time was precious, and he was not interested in games. He did not expect that Wendy could tail him without his knowledge.
“Eldest Cousin Brother, there’s no need to doubt yourself. I didn’t follow you here.” Wendy saw through his thoughts. “I correctly guessed that you would be there this morning.”
“What do you want to say?” Joseph had lost his patience.
“Eldest Cousin Brother, don’t you love me anymore? Weren’t you always gentle with me? Why have you become so rough and impatient ever since Emily arrived at our home?” Wendy took her time. After all, he had to wait for the report. It was pointless for him to feel anxious.
“I’m afraid your test result will take about four hours to be ready.” She mentioned the words’ test result’, so there was no need for pretense.
Joseph’s expression turned grim. Wendy, on the other hand, smiled happily and said, “Eldest Cousin Brother, there’s a cafe downstairs. Why don’t we have a chat while we wait?”
“I have to stay here.” He needed to make sure that her people did not try anything.
“Eldest Cousin Brother, how should we get along in the future if you’re always on your guard with me?”
Wendy snuck her hair behind her ears as she flirted with the man in front of her. “Even if I tried to do something fishy, you could always do the test elsewhere quietly next time. How many times could I catch you anyway?”
When he did not budge, her smile disappeared. She coldly stared at him and said, “Emily told you that I’m not Sang Qing’s daughter, didn’t she?”
“Did she not tell you that she was her daughter?”
There was something that Wendy did not understand from the previous night. Joseph must have known that Emily was Talia’s daughter, so why would he readily admit that they were in a relationship?
Was there something else that he did not yet know?
“What do you want to say? Don’t worry, just say it clearly.” She was right. Even if she barred his effort that day, he would still have many other opportunities to do the test. If she were not Old Master Gale’s granddaughter, everyone would find out eventually.
Unless she wanted to get him killed so that she could keep her secret. For some reason, Joseph was relieved with that possibility.
“This is City L, do you think you could act against me?
“Of course, I can’t. You’re Eldest Young Master Gale, and City L is your turf. I’m just a weak little woman, are you really that afraid of me?”
“Where do you want to talk?” Since she was there to meet him, she must have been prepared. If she had something to say, she had better clarify everything so that nobody would waste any more time.
“If we don’t want anybody to hear it, why don’t we talk in my car?”
Wendy had the same car as Joseph, and they were both parked in the hospital’s underground garage.
She did not bring bodyguards with her—when he got into the car, Joseph had quietly observed their surroundings. Nothing smelled strange, and there were no signs of danger.
“Eldest cousin brother, you’re so vigilant. It’s so hard to go out with you!”
“Cut to the chase.” The fact that Wendy had followed him to the hospital showed that she was not his grandfather’s granddaughter. He had no patience with a con woman. He thought that her seductive moves were irritating and a waste of time.
“Eldest Cousin Brother, you’re biased. Your heart is already partial to Emily.” Before Wendy finished her sentence, Joseph’s hand had already reached the car door handle—why would he waste his time with that?
“Joseph, I am not the old master’s granddaughter.” Wendy’s expression turned dark as she stared at his cold side profile. “Since you believed Emily, there’s no need for me to hide.”
Joseph’s fingers turned stiff, and he turned to look at her with a cold squint.
“You admit it?”
“You took my hair and something from the old man to do the test; there’s no way I could deny it, even if I wanted to.” Wendy said coldly.
Why did all the men favor that woman? What was so good about Emily? Why would they trust her so much?
Fortunately, Eldest Young Master Jackson had accepted her because of her status as the Gale family’s granddaughter. However, Wendy knew that Hunter was only nice to her because he had grown bored of Emily. Another reason was her new status in the Gale family. Otherwise, why was he so indifferent toward her when she was in Bentson? Why did he suddenly decide to let her approach him?
However, she did not feel bad about that. It did not matter if Eldest Young Master Jackson had chosen her for her status or his love for her—as long as he picked her.
“Joseph, it is true that I’m not your grandfather’s biological granddaughter. However, I don’t understand why you were so stupid to admit the thing between you and Emily in front of everyone last night.” What was the man up to? Did he not know that Emily was the old master’s biological granddaughter, and thus, they were cousins? If everyone knew about that secret, the old master would die in a fit of anger.
“What do you mean?” Joseph felt as if things were not as simple as he had thought. Emily told him that she did the test and confirmed that she was not his grandfather’s granddaughter. So what if he got together with a girl who was not related to the family?
Old Master Gale was still very excited about his impending engagement to Emily. When things were calmer, he would tell his grandfather that they had broken up, so that he would not be sad. However, Wendy’s expression made him a little uneasy. Was Emily wrong about something else?
Wendy tilted her head to look at him with a smile. Then she gave him a straight answer. “Your whole family saw how you and your first cousin sister rolled around on the bed. You don’t think that’s a serious matter?”
Was he stupid?
“What did you say?” Joseph clenched his fists.
“We needed a girl who’s biologically related to the old master for the test.” Wendy smiled impertinently. “So, we sent Emily’s blood sample instead. To put it simply, Emily is your real cousin!”
