Chapter 258 Get A Grandchild

Book:My Most Precious Wife Published:2024-5-1

After Rupert left, Henry returned to Emily. “What did she say?”
“Nothing. She was fired, and she knew nothing about the Mus.”
Emily stood up, and together, they walked to the foot of the mountain.
“Did you say anything else to her?” Henry was a little surprised, and it was not like Emily to give up so easily.
“I asked about some things that happened in the past, but Rupert doesn’t know much. She hasn’t been taking care of the old madam for long. The old madam had another maid called Evie.”
Henry could not believe it. Emily was not someone who would let Rupert leave if she had not given her any useful information. However, he would not press her if she did not want to mention it. As she said, the matter had passed. Everything would be worth it if she could live her life well after that.
The two of them walked to the foot of the mountain, but before they got to the parking lot, they saw several figures walking toward them. Hunter was dressed in an all-black suit, and Wendy looked sophisticated, as always. Liam, who walked behind them, was surprised when he saw Emily with Henry.
“Young madam… Miss Gale, how are you?” Liam asked.
“I’m well. Thank you for your concern.” Emily smiled at him.
She did not believe she could be so calm in front of those people, especially after what she had been through. Emily thought she had grown up, and she also had better control of her emotions. She no longer acted on her impulses or driven only by her feelings and wants.
She looked at Hunter and softly asked, “Eldest Young Master Jackson, how are you?”
“I’m good.” Hunter was expressionless and calm. No one could figure out the thoughts in his mind.
“Eldest Young Master Jackson, may I speak with you privately?”
Emily had been standing since she got to the cemetery, and both of her legs trembled slightly because she was tired. She had yet to recover fully. The doctor wanted to keep her for another three days, but she did not want to stay in the hospital. Otherwise, she would still be there.
Before Hunter could say anything, Wendy, who stood beside him, turned somber and shouted, “Emily, don’t you think you’ve hurt him enough?”
Emily ignored her and kept her gaze on Hunter as his cold eyes also fell on her.
After half a second, he simply said, “I still have something to do.”
“It will only take you five minutes…no, three minutes.”
“Next time, make an appointment with Liam.” Hunter stepped away without a glance backward.
Liam gave Emily an awkward smile. “Eldest Young Master is really busy today. After paying his respects to the old madam, he has to rush back to the company to deal with many other matters.
“Miss Gale, why don’t I check his schedule for you—”
“There’s no need.” Emily shook her head and finally grabbed onto Henry’s arm.
She could not stand it anymore; she would fall if she had no support. Henry had noticed her chalk-white expression, so he stretched his long arms and pulled her into an embrace.
“Do you want me to carry you? There is still quite a distance to the car park from here.” Henry’s voice was softer than the whisper of the wind.
Emily hesitated, but eventually, she nodded. She really could not move anymore. If she were to continue to walk, she would probably faint. Henry propped her with his arms, and they continued their journey toward the parking lot.
Liam did not know how he felt when he saw that scene. The young madam’s complexion was pale, and it was obvious that she was still weak. It made sense; she had only woken up from a ten-day coma in the hospital. It was impossible for one to recover so quickly. However, the young madam had fallen into another man’s embrace right before the eldest young master’s eyes…
Wendy turned around to watch the figures that disappeared into the distance and sneered, “She had gotten together with Second Young Master Sharp in such a short time. I didn’t know she had it in her.”
Hunter stopped in his tracks and finally turned around to peek at them. However, he only took one glance, and then he withdrew his glance and continued to walk toward the cemetery on the mountainside. Wendy quickly trailed behind him.
“Hunter, I didn’t mean to badmouth Emily. I just didn’t think it was nice of her to be intimate with another man in front of her former fiancé…”
She paused as if she could not find the right words before she continued, “I am embarrassed even to say it out loud.”
Hunter did not appear to be interested in Wendy’s words as he continued to walk up the mountainside. Liam trailed behind them. He was disgusted when he noticed the way Wendy swayed as she walked. He thought it was sickening.
That woman had tried her best to make an appearance in front of the eldest young master. It was not only while they were at WongRiver Pavilion, but she did it at other places in Jackson’s mansion too. She was constantly on the lookout for the eldest young master. Old Master Jackson must have had some problems with his eyesight; he had hinted that the eldest young master should be with Wendy. He even assigned that woman as a special assistant to Hunter in Jackson Corporation.
Wendy stayed in the eldest young master’s office day in and day out, and Liam was annoyed. Fortunately, it did not affect Hunter much. As long as he was focused on his work, he would be in his own world. He would ignore everything that happened around him. However, Liam was still uncomfortable with the arrangement as he felt that Wendy’s presence had polluted his work environment.
Wendy noticed that Hunter did not want to talk about Emily, so she kept her mouth shut. When they arrived at the old madam’s grave, Wendy immediately knelt in front of the tombstone, and her eyes were all red.
She took some paper money from Liam and burned them as she sobbed, “Grandmother, how are you?
“Grandmother, you don’t have to worry about me. Hunter has been very kind to me. I know he promised that he would take care of me in the future, and he will definitely do it.
“Grandmother, you can rest assured that both Hunter and I are well.” Then she wailed.
Liam stood at the side, far away from all the crying. Were those words meant for the old madam, or were they a reminder for Hunter to treat her well? In any case, Liam was not happy with that woman.
Wendy cried and continued to speak to the old madam’s grave in between her sobs, but Hunter stood there like a wooden statue. He pursed his frosty lips as he stared at the old madam’s smile on her tombstone’s portrait.
After a while, as if to take a break from her crying, Wendy looked and Hunter and softly said, “Last night, I dreamt about Grandmother.”
Hunter still said nothing. Wendy wiped her tears; she seemed hesitant and embarrassed.
“Grandmother asked when I’d give the Jackson family… a grandson…”
“Eldest Young Master, there’s a call for you.”
Before Wendy could finish her sentence, Liam hung up the call and walked toward Hunter.
Hunter turned around to look at Liam as his right-hand man reported, “They’ve arranged the route, so you can leave in three days.”
“Okay.” Hunter nodded before he turned around to bow in front of the old madam’s tombstone. Then he started to make his way to the foot of the mountain.
Wendy was furious. She never got to finish her sentences. D*mn that Liam! He had ruined her plans! That b*stard! Sooner or later, she would chase him away from Hunter!
