Did she look indecent? Emily glanced at her dress, and then looked at the girls around her. Finally, her eyes landed on Wendy.
“Miss Gale, why would you say that I embarrassed you? Is it because you are not as pretty as I am? Is that why you’re ashamed?”
Wendy, who was about to leave, stopped in her tracks. She turned around to stare at Emily, and then she blurted, “Ugly duckling, what do you mean I’m not as beautiful as you?”
Did the ugly b*tch forget how she had looked before that? How dare she say that she was not as beautiful as her? Was she crazy or stupid?
Emily turned around and started to talk to Henry. She had completely ignored Wendy. Wendy almost went berserk! Emily’s attitude made her feel as if she was delivering punches onto cotton; she did not react at all!
Wendy had spoken so loudly, and she felt as if everyone had stared at her. However, Emily and Henry continued to chat happily with each other, so she looked as if she had kicked up a fuss over nothing. She had never been so ashamed in a public event ever since she was 18 years old. Everyone stared at her as if she was a clown, and the root of all evil acted as if there was nothing wrong. Wendy could not take it anymore. She turned around and left in a hurry.
Outside the lobby, Liam leaned against the car as he talked to another man.
When he saw Wendy come out from the door, Liam greeted her with a smile. “Miss Wendy, why did you come out so quickly?”
“Where is Hunter?” Wendy asked.
Liam glimpsed at the hall, and something mysterious flashed in his eyes. He said, “Eldest Young Master had already left, but he did not say where he was headed.”
“He’s gone? Why didn’t he wait for me?” Wendy shrieked as she balled her fists.
“How could he leave me here by myself, and let everyone look at me like I’m some clown!”
Liam’s face sank, and he refuted in a displeasing tone, “Eldest Young Master has a lot on his plate daily, and he’s an extremely busy person. Don’t you think it’s normal for him to leave if he had to take care of something?”
That woman had been quite demanding. It was as if she thought that she was someone important who deserved everyone’s attention. Who would give a damn about her if it was not for the old madam’s sake?
“Liam, you had better watch your attitude when you talk—”
Liam returned to the car and dialed a number on his phone. “Get someone to send Miss Wendy back to WongRiver Pavilion.”
“Liam! How dare you!”
He had done it again! He had never shown her any respect!
Wendy could not stomach it any longer. She stomped over to Liam, and bellowed, “Liam, I’m talking to you!”
“I’m listening.” Liam lit a cigarette for himself, as his patience had worn out.
“You and your attitude! Don’t you want to continue working in Jackson Corporation?”
She was the mistress of the WongRiver Pavilion. How dared the lowly servant showed her an attitude? Had he grown tired of his life?
“Too bad I don’t work for Jackson Corporation. It’s not your call whether I stay or go.”
“Liam! How dare you treat me like this! I will get Hunter to fire you!”
Liam could not care less, so he spread his hands nonchalantly. Wendy felt like she could cry! Why were those people so rude to her? She was Eldest Young Master Jackson’s woman and the mistress of WongRiver Pavilion. She might very well be Eldest Young Madam Jackson in the future! However, the man in front of her totally ignored her existence, and he had been so rude toward her too!
“You… You are too much!”
Wendy could no longer control her emotions. She raised her hand to slap Liam. However, Liam managed to catch her wrist in time. He narrowed his eyes to stare her down.
“You want to hit me?” He had no idea that the woman could be so unruly!
“You should remember that even if you are Eldest Young Master’s distinguished guest, you are still not my master!
“You are not qualified to hit me!”
He let go of her wrist so suddenly that Wendy, who was in high heels, stumbled a few steps backward. Then she fell onto the ground with a loud thud.
“You…”
“Miss Wendy!” Ewan, who had just received the message to pick up Wendy at the dinner party, arrived at the scene just as Liam threw Wendy onto the ground.
He hurried toward her to help her up. “Miss Wendy, are you alright?”
Wendy saw him and immediately broke into tears.
“Ewan! Liam bullied me. He hit me.” She continued to wail.
“Liam, you have overstepped your boundaries!” Ewan helped her up and glared at Liam as he balled his fists.
“She started it.” Liam did not want to have a conflict with Ewan. After all, they had been friends for so many years.
“I didn’t do anything to her. I only pushed her away.”
“She is but a weak girl, and you are as strong and. You were not pushing her away; you were pushing her down!”
Ewan’s anger instantly sparked Liam’s wrath.
“Did you mean I should just stand here and let her slap me?”
“She—” Ewan did not expect that Wendy would want to hit Liam, more so to slap him.
Liam was Eldest Young Master Jackson’s most loyal assistant. He was also a prominent person in Bentson’s business district. Of course, he would not stand idly by if a woman were to hit him.
“Miss Wendy, you—”
“Ewan, I’m dizzy. My head is spinning.” Wendy seemed too weak even to hold herself up. Her body went limp, and she slumped onto the ground.
Ewan was there, so he would not have let her hit the ground.
Ewan supported her, and anxiously said, “I shall get you to the car.”
“Hmm.”
Ewan looked at Liam again with a somewhat complicated gaze. He did not want to be in conflict with Liam, but he did not want to see Wendy mistreated either. Ewan felt embarrassed. Finally, he helped Wendy into the car and drove off.
Liam also felt irritable. That messed-up woman had sullied the WongRiver Pavilion. The eldest young master had never cared about petty issues at home, and so Wendy had taken the helm at WongRiver Pavilion. All the servants were submissive to her, and those who defied her were fired. WongRiver Pavilion had dismissed about ten people in two days!
Everyone was anxious about the situation. They might appear to be loyal and obedient to her, but they had discreetly complained to him. However, the eldest young master would never handle those grievances, so what could he do? Besides, he did not want to bother the Hunter with such trivial matters. After all, he had a lot to deal with daily.
Liam glanced at the entrance of the lobby. Wendy had already left, so where was Hunter? Where did he go?

Emily could no longer stand the men’s lecherous stares. Even though she did not experience any wardrobe malfunction, her figure-hugging dress had left little to one’s imagination. Not long after Wendy had left, she made an excuse to leave the venue and went to the restroom.
She gave Sally, who was still enjoying the food and drink at the party, a call as soon as she got into the restroom. “I’ll find an excuse to leave first. You and the Lois should stay a little longer to entertain the guests.”
“Okay, um…” It was apparent that Sally had a lot of food in her mouth; she could not even speak clearly. That girl could eat!
Emily put her mobile phone away and got out of the ladies’ room. Suddenly someone grabbed her from behind and pulled her into the fire escape stairs.
