Chapter 149 He Had Underestimated The Woman

The man stood at the end of the footpath. At a glance, he looked like he was in a dark, solemn mood. On a second look, however, his expression darkened even more, as if a storm would break out soon.
Emily was so surprised that she hurriedly pushed Manson away. However, not only Manson did not let her go, but he hugged her even tighter.
“Are you looking for death?” Emily pushed even harder, and she opened her mouth as if she wanted to bite him. “Let go of me!”
“I thought you were falling, so I tried to save you. What’s wrong with that?” Manson decided not to tempt fate with Hunter, so he finally released her.
Emily took two steps backward as soon as she was free. However, she did not realize the implication of that action; it looked as if she was guilty.
“Emily almost fell just now, Brother. I only wanted to help her. I meant her no harm, so please don’t get me wrong.”
Manson tucked his hands in his pockets and looked at the approaching Hunter. He had a faint smile at the corner of his lips as if to provoke his elder brother! They were not far from their grandmother’s room, which was at the back of the house. She was so frail that she would not be able to handle any emotional distress. Would it not pain her to see those two brothers in an argument with each other? Hunter did not want to take the risk. Everyone knew that he respected the old madam the most.
Hunter approached Emily with a cold expression on his face. “Come with me to see Grandmother.”
“I’m not going,” Emily rejected his invitation.
She had seen the old madam, and it was obvious that she only wanted to spend time with Wendy. The old madam had looked at her with disgust, and Emily had been so hurt and heartbroken when she realized that. She was a timid woman, so she did not want to face the old madam. She did not want to see that look on the older woman’s face again. At least Wendy was there to keep her company. Emily had no intention to be around them.
“You’re not going?” Hunter narrowed his eyes. His expression changed like the stormy clouds in the sky.
His grandmother had only been discharged from the hospital, and she was still in poor health. Everyone had been so anxious around the old madam, but Emily did not want to visit her! Even if she had no affection for his grandmother, she should at least visit the old madam. She was his fiancée, so it was the right thing for her to do. Did she hate him and his family that much? So much that she did not even want to put on a show for them?
“Come with me!” Hunter suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward the back end of the house with a stern face.
He had rarely treated anyone with such force. He did not think it was worthwhile to force someone to do something that they were not willing to do. However, anyone could tell that he was furious. He was enraged! Emily tried to shake her hand off, but she could not break away from his grip. Instead, she felt pain on her wrist.
Then she rudely replied, “Hunter, it’s my own business to decide if I want to visit Grandmother. What has it got to do with you? Let me go!”
Hunter did not address her question. He was determined to drag her along with him. Emily was usually submissive toward him, but it did not look like she was her usual self that day. She struggled against him as he dragged her with him.
“Hunter, I’m not going. Let me go! You have no right to force me to do anything!”
The man did not let go of her hand. That was not how he would usually behave, and it seemed like none of them would make the compromise.
“Brother, she doesn’t want to go. Wouldn’t she make Grandmother angry if you insisted that she comes along?”
Vincent and Hunter had appeared together, but Eldest Young Master Jackson’s aura was overbearing that one could not notice anyone else in his presence. Luckily, Hunter stopped when he heard what Vincent said, and he released Emily immediately.
Then, he stormed toward his grandmother’s room at the back of the house. Vincent glanced briefly at Emily, who glared at Hunter’s back as he walked away. Emily did not need to look at Vincent to know that he had looked at her with scorn. It seemed like she was the Jackson family’s common enemy that day. Perhaps she should not have appeared there that day.
She held her wrist, her eyebrows knitted as she tried to bear with the pain. Hunter’s tight grip had hurt her wrist.
“What good will it do if you go against him?” Manson said softly as he walked toward her.
Emily ignored him. If he had not held her so tightly just then, would Eldest Young Master Jackson have gotten so angry? Manson knew what was on her mind, but it did not bother him.
He shrugged and smiled disdainfully. “He is fooling around with another there, and yet, you are not allowed to get close to another man?”
“What does it have to do with you?” Emily did not want to speak of Eldest Young Master Jackson, nor did she want to discredit him.
She was the woman that Hunter had brought back that night. Manson had misunderstood the situation as Hunter having an affair while she was in danger. However, it was still none of Manson’s business. Why was he so bothered about it? It was apparent that he wanted to stir the hornet’s nest!
“You took my goodwill for ill intent!” Manson said scornfully.
He had no intention to stay with her and was about to leave. However, just as he turned around, his gaze landed on her wrist.
“Are you hurt?” He frowned and stared at her hand.
Her wrist looked red and swollen. It looked horrible! Was she a dead person? How could she not cry out in pain when Hunter grabbed her? Why was she so stubborn about it? Would Eldest Young Master Jackson persisted if she had cried out in pain?
Emily ignored him and quickly walked toward the front yard. It looked like Manson had hit a wall again, and he was infuriated. If it were not for her red and swollen wrist, would he have cared? ‘No good deed goes unpunished,’ indeed!
That woman was a lost cause!

When Hunter walked toward the backyard, his face had paled. He stopped momentarily before he decided to head into the room. The wind blew at his short hair, as his body exuded a chilling sensation that was akin to Asura. A few moments later, he had collected himself well enough to look his usual indifferent, uninviting, calm, and expressionless self.
Vincent waited for him nearby. They did not say a word to each other. Hunter finally looked like the eldest brother that he was familiar with. Regardless of the situation, he would face all odds with a calm demeanor.
As for Emily… That must have been an accident. However, he seemed to have underestimated the woman’s influence on his eldest brother… When Hunter entered the room, he saw his grandmother and Wendy in a deep conversation. The old master had returned to his study when he wheeled his wife back to her room. He still had to deal with Mu Corporation’s daily affairs.
The two women chatted happily in the room. When she was Hunter, Wendy blushed and whispered shyly, “Eldest Young Master Jackson.”
Hunter nodded and walked straight to the old madam.
“Grandmother, how are you feeling today?”
He had utterly ignored Wendy, who sat just beside the old madam. However, Wendy was touched by his tender tone. Eldest Young Master Jackson had spoken… so gently! His voice was softer than usual, but it was enough to catch her breath.
She imagined that Eldest Young Master Jackson would use such a gentle voice with her. Even though he had not shown any interest in him, Wendy was already fascinated.
Emily’s words hung in her mind. She said that Eldest Young Master Jackson was very capable in bed, and how it was very fortunate that he did not kill her during their intimate sessions. Wendy’s breathing and pulse quickened as she fantasized about his performance in bed with her.
