The scream sounded as if it was a continuous one.
Sally sat on the balcony with a completely blank mind. She could not react in time, so she could only watch as Emily fell off the railing.
A tall figure moved through the crowd like the wind.
No one could see how he moved, as his speed was entirely beyond one’s imagination.
In the blink of an eye, he dashed toward the edge of the balcony and leaped off.
Those who watched the scene unfold were so shocked that they could not even scream.
Two people! It turned out that two people had leaped off the roof together!
Emily thought that she would die.
Not even a month had passed since she returned to the world, but for some reason, she had a feeling that she would not live for long.
She had nearly drowned last time, so would a fall kill her immediately, then?
Why was she given a chance to be reborn if her new life would end so soon?
She felt as if her body continued to fall, and the fear of death completely engulfed her.
In her fuzzy state of mind, she saw Hunter rushed toward her. However, she could not see clearly as everything went too fast.
She thought it was weird that he was the person she saw in each of her near-death experiences.
“Argh!” A piercing pain emanated from her wrist, as though someone had grasped onto her tightly.
Emily let out a pained cry and looked up. The sun blinded her vision, so she could not identify the person who caught her.
However, his energy and his aura were crystal clear!
“Hunter …”
Hunter did not make a sound. One of his hands hung onto the edge of the balcony while the other clasped Emily’s wrist firmly.
“HELP! HELP! QUICKLY!” Sally finally reacted and called for help immediately.
Everyone was jolted back to their senses. Before a few security guards could head toward them, a figure darted out from the crowd and sped toward the edge of the balcony.
Terry was relieved to see that Emily was relatively safe, and his heart began to pound in a more regular rhythm.
“Pull her up!” He glanced briefly at Hunter before he turned toward the security guards. “Come and help him!”
Hunter remained expressionless, and he was already pulling Emily up before the security guards reached him.
What sheer arm strength that one would need to do that!
The security guards were all dumbfounded!
No one could pull a woman up with just one hand, let alone hold on to them for as long as he did!
Terry had no time to admire Master Jackson’s incredible power!
As Hunter pulled Emily, Terry grabbed hold of Emily’s other arm and helped Hunter to pull her back onto the balcony.
“Save him, save him…” Emily’s mind was still somewhat foggy.
As soon as she landed on the balcony, she immediately exclaimed, “Save him… Hunter, Hunter!”
“Are you really that scared that something would happen to me?” The man climbed over the railing with both hands, and he did not even need any help with that. He had jumped up and landed steadily on the balcony.
Emily stood up hurriedly and threw herself onto him. “Hunter!”
He was fine! Everything was fine!
After Emily was rescued, she was worried that Hunter would topple over the balcony if he had no strength to hold on.
She did now know that Master Jackson had such incredible strength. She had not had the chance to see it in her past life.
He was only a businessman, though! How could he possess strength greater than someone from the special forces?
At that moment, she leaned on his arms and listened to his heartbeat as she felt his aura. Her nervous and fragile heart could finally relax.
She breathed a heavy sigh of relief before her knees finally crumbled.
Hunter held her in his arms and glanced at Sally, who sat at the side.
“She’ll be very sad if something were to happen to you. Don’t do anything foolish if you don’t want to hurt her.”
With those words of advice, Hunter carried Emily and left.
Everyone made way for them and allowed him to head toward the stairs without any fuss.
“That person, it looks like… It looks like Master Jackson!”
“Oh my God! It’s really him! How is he so handsome!”
“He’s so awesome!”
Joe pulled Sally up and comforted her softly, “Don’t be scared, Sally. Let’s head back. Terry …”
Terry stared at the balcony staircase as if he was lost in his own thoughts.
“Terry, let’s take Sally home,” Joe repeated.
Then Terry snapped back to reality. He looked at them and said, “Someone called the police, so we should wait a while longer. I’m worried that there will be some trouble.”
“I’m fine.” Sally’s lips trembled. Her voice faltered, but she was firm, “I won’t do anything stupid. I won’t hurt Emily anymore.”
…
Hunter did not return immediately to Hunter’s mansion. Instead, he took Emily back to their villa.
Along the way, the two did not speak to each other.
Both of them had seemed to develop emotions for one another, but neither wanted to break their silence.
When the car stopped at the villa’s yard, Emily finally gazed at the man beside her.
“Thank you for today.”
“Is that all you’re going to say?” He switched off the ignition, but he was in no haste to open the door.
“I…” Emily looked at him.
Master Jackson’s icy face remained unchanged, and she could not figure out his thoughts.
As for anything else… Did she have anything else she wanted to say?
Was he referring to their quarrel from the night before?
Liam appeared from out of nowhere and proceeded to open the door for Hunter.
Master Jackson got out of the car. A few seconds was all the time he cared to give her. He had no patience at all.
Emily sighed, opened the door, and then got out of the car.
As she looked up, Master Jackson had already entered the hall, and he had left her with nothing but his cold silhouette.
She was in a confusing mood, and she had yet to calm down after her near-death experience.
However, Master Jackson did not appear to have taken that seriously.
“Young Madam, where have you been?”
Master Jackson had not allowed Liam to follow him earlier. Hence Liam was reluctant to inquire about what had happened between them.
Emily responded plainly, “I went to the hospital to see a friend.”
“Are you going back to Hunter’s mansion tonight? Old Madam Mu probably doesn’t know that you have left.”
“This… Well, Master Jackson can decide about that.” Hunter was rather frosty, and even if there were something that he wanted to say, he would not have said it anyway.
“Young Madam…” Liam followed her into the hall. He seemed to have something on his mind but was reluctant to say it. “That… Eldest Young Master… He…”
“If you have something to say, you can say it without beating around the bush.” Emily halted in her footsteps and looked at him.
“Young Madam, are you still mad at Eldest Young Master?”
She did not look emotional, so Liam said, “Eldest Young Master really did not know anything about that beforehand. He did not scheme against you, Young Madam.”
“Eldest Young Master is not someone who would want to make any explanation. There are definitely some things that he can never explain.”
Liam stared at her and replied sincerely, “Young Madam, I just wanted to tell you that Eldest Young Master had never thought about hurting your friends, let alone hurting you.”
Emily did sense that Hunter was not hostile toward her friends, particularly Sally.
If he told Liam to send an invitation to Sally, then at the very least, it showed that he accepted Sally as her friend.
He was just hesitant to make his feelings known. It was as if there was a tight knot in his heart that made him irritable.
However, things had calmed down since then.
“Young Madam.” The maid came out of the hall with a bunch of roses as she greeted Emily. Then she looked at Liam.
“Mr. White, are we really going to throw these roses away? It’s a pity. They’re so beautiful.”
