CH 89.
Andrianne’s heart was pounding as she drove towards Lucas’ office, excited to surprise him with a visit. As she arrived, she parked her car and walked towards the building, but before she could enter, she overheard a conversation that made her blood run cold.
“I’ll tell her the truth, Lucas. I’ll tell her that the baby is yours.”
Andrianne’s hand went to her mouth in shock as she recognized the voice of Emily. What was she talking about? And why was Lucas with her? Her heart racing, Andrianne approached the room quietly, trying to listen in on their conversation.
“I won’t let you do that, Emily. You promised you wouldn’t say anything,” Lucas replied, his voice strained.
“I promised I wouldn’t say anything if you spent more time with me, Lucas. But you’re always with her,” Emily shot back.
Andrianne’s eyes widened as she realized what was happening. Emily was pregnant with Lucas’ child, and he was keeping it a secret from her. Tears began to fill her eyes as she thought about how betrayed she felt.
Suddenly, Lucas and Emily turned around and saw Andrianne standing there. “Andrianne, what are you doing here?” Lucas asked, his voice filled with panic.
Andrianne didn’t know what to say. She felt like she had just been hit by a ton of bricks. She could feel the anger and hurt bubbling up inside of her. “What’s going on?” she asked, her voice trembling.
Lucas hesitated for a moment before finally speaking. “It’s not what it looks like, Andrianne,” he said, trying to reassure her.
“It looks like you’re having a conversation with the woman who’s carrying your child,” Andrianne spat out, her voice laced with bitterness.
Lucas looked down at the ground, unable to meet Andrianne’s gaze. “I’m sorry,” he said softly.
Andrianne felt like the world had just come crashing down on her. She didn’t know how to react. Her heart felt like it was breaking into a million pieces. She turned around and ran out of the building, tears streaming down her face.
Lucas chased after her, calling her name, but she was too fast for him. She got into her car and drove off, her thoughts consumed by what had just happened. She couldn’t believe that the man she loved had been keeping such a huge secret from her.
As she drove, she realized that she had to talk to someone about what had just happened. She couldn’t keep it all bottled up inside. So, she drove to Jackie’s clinic, hoping that her friend would be able to help her sort through her feelings.
Jackie was surprised to see Andrianne in such a state. “What happened?” she asked, her voice filled with concern.
Andrianne tried to speak, but the words wouldn’t come out. She just sat there, tears streaming down her face. Jackie put her arm around her and held her close, letting her cry.
Finally, Andrianne was able to speak. She told Jackie everything that had happened, about how she had overheard Lucas and Emily talking about the baby, and how she had felt so betrayed.
Jackie listened intently, her heart breaking for her friend. “I’m so sorry, Andrianne,” she said softly. “You don’t deserve to be treated this way.”
Andrianne nodded, wiping away her tears. “What am I going to do, Jackie? I love him so much, but I don’t know if I can forgive him for this.”
Jackie thought for a moment before speaking. “You need to talk to him, Andrianne. You need to hold yourself together,”. Andrianne stared at the wall blankly and didn’t utter a word, she seemed lost in her own world.
Lucas drove at high speed and arrived at Jackie’s house and he watched as Andrianne slammed the door shut and locked it. He tried knocking and calling out to her, but she didn’t respond. He sat on the steps outside the house, his head in his hands.
After a few minutes, Jackie came out of the house and saw Lucas sitting there. “What happened?” she asked.
“Emily happened,” he said, his voice low. “She threatened to tell Andrianne that the baby is mine.”
Jackie gasped. “Oh no. Andrianne must be devastated.”
“She is. She ran out of my office and I chased her here. I don’t know what to do. I can’t lose her, Jackie. I love her so much.”
“I know you do,” Jackie said, putting a hand on his shoulder. “But you have to give her time. She needs to process this.”
“I know, but I can’t bear the thought of losing her.”
“Andrianne is strong. She’ll come around. Just give her space.”
Lucas nodded, his eyes filled with tears. “I hope you’re right.”
They sat there in silence for a while, both lost in their thoughts. Eventually, Lucas got up to leave. “Thanks, Jackie,” he said. “I’ll see you later.”
“Take care,” she said, watching him walk away.
Lucas got into his car and drove back to the mansion. When he got there, he found Andrianne sitting on the couch, staring at the wall.
“I’m sorry,” he said, sitting down next to her.
Andrianne didn’t say anything. She just continued to stare at the wall.
Lucas put his arm around her, but she shrugged it off. “I need some space,” she said, getting up from the couch.
“Please don’t push me away,” he pleaded.
Andrianne turned to face him, tears in her eyes. “You lied to me,” she said. “You told me you had nothing to do with Emily, and all along you were sleeping with her and got her pregnant.”
“I’m sorry,” Lucas said, his own tears beginning to fall. “I didn’t want to hurt you.”
“Well, you did,” Andrianne said, wiping away her tears. “I don’t know if I can forgive you for this.”
“I understand,” Lucas said, standing up. “I’ll give you the space you need. But please know that I love you, Andrianne. I’ll do whatever it takes to make things right.”
Andrianne didn’t respond. She just watched as Lucas walked out of the room, closing the door behind him.
She sat down on the couch, feeling lost and alone. She didn’t know what to do or who to turn to. All she knew was that her life had been turned upside down, and she wasn’t sure if she could ever recover from it.
