The man’s tall and muscular physique pressed against Elena’s body.
Elena’s heart trembled when she felt his body heat from behind her. Her expression turned angry.
Bastard! It was early in the morning, and the children were around, how could he be so wanton!
His body was…
“Let me go!” She yelled as she struggled to break free from the arms that encircled her.
“I’ve missed you for two years, and I couldn’t help myself. I apologize.”
Michael did not want to be so presumptuous around the children. He had genuinely lost control of himself.
“Mommy,” Sweety called out from the bathroom.
Elena pushed Michael with all her might and said, “Let go right now; Sweety needs me.”
He finally let go of her and followed her to the bathroom.
Elena helped Sweety to clean up before the child brushed her teeth. Then, she passed a new toothbrush to Michael and said, “Clean yourself.”
“Will you not help me?”
“Piss off!”
Michael was speechless. She had gotten bolder in those two years. She even had the gall to tell him to piss off.
However, Michael had behaved well that day. He went to the bathroom with the new toothbrush to freshen himself.
Ten minutes later, the father and his children sat at the table peacefully.
Elena carried four bowls of congee from the kitchen and some fried noodles and homemade fried dough.
She fed Sweety her breakfast and left the boys to take care of themselves.
Michael felt nostalgic when he ate his first mouthful of congee. When he tasted the woman’s cooking, he felt as if he could float in the air. It was like a dream. Everything felt so familiar, with the addition of two tiny humans by their side.
It was breakfast with plain congee and fried noodles, two things that he would not usually eat. However, he felt that it should be the best breakfast in one’s life.
No matter his popularity and success, all he wanted to do at the end of the day were to return to his family and kids. It was also great to sit with one’s family at the dining table and chat about trivial topics. It was a perfect life.
After Elena fed Sweety, she carried the empty bowls and utensils back to the kitchen.
Michael cleaned up the rest of the table and headed to the kitchen door. That was when he overheard Elena on a phone call. “Yes, I’m really sorry. The nanny has taken the day off, and nobody could take care of the kids…”
Elena continued to apologize profusely. “When I find a new nanny, I will add a few more shifts to catch up with work. In the meantime, I will keep working even though I’m at home. Supervisor, please don’t worry, I will never become a burden to anyone.” She even wanted to hire a new nanny.
Michael gradually sank into deep thoughts.
It seemed like she did not want to go back to Bentson with him. It was as if she had not paid any attention to what he had told her the night before that.
After Elena hung up, she turned around and saw Michael at the door.
“Oh…” She was so surprised that she did not know what to tell him.
“You go ahead and work; I’ll take care of the children.” He went in and put the bowls in the sink. He wanted to wash the dishes, but he did not know where to begin.
Elena picked up the washing sponge and stood next to him and started to wash the bowls.
“Look at you. You don’t even know how to wash the bowls; how can I leave the kids with you?”
Michael stopped with his attempts to help with the cleaning. He changed his method and once again held her from behind.
“You…” Elena started to struggle again. Yet, he buried his face in her neck as he took in the unique fragrance from her body. “Come back to me; wouldn’t that be good?”
“No, that wouldn’t be good.” Elena tried to break out of his arms, but he was like a piece of sticky medicine patch; she could not get rid of him no matter how hard she tried.
“Michael, don’t be so presumptuous. We have nothing to do with each other anymore.”
Michael stayed quiet. He continued to hold her with his eyes closed and his face on her neck.
Elena really wished she could kick him out of the house. How was he so dense?!
“Let’s bring the kids out to have some fun later. What do you think?” He had never had a family life with a wife and a daughter. As for the son, they could leave him in the kindergarten; it was as if they left him in the office. He had to train the son not to be too reliant on him from a young age. After all, Chester’s future would only involve very little time with his family.
Michael had planned the future for the four of them. Their son would work and earn money, and they would pamper and spoil their daughter as she would not need to do anything with her life. As for his wife, he would also spoil her and shower her with money. He would provide her with whatever she needed.
Elena’s heart moved a little. She never imagined that she would be able to bring her child out with Michael. She wanted to do that; they would really feel like a real family.
However, she felt anxious when the word ‘family’ came to mind. She felt as if she would let Luacs down.
“I’m not free today.” She pushed against him, but she was still in his embrace.
“Didn’t you take a day off?” Michael suddenly let go of her and walked to the living room. He looked at Sweety who sat on the chair.
“Daddy and Mommy will bring you to have some fun today. What do you say?”
“Yay!” Sweety smiled sweetly at her Daddy!
Elena got out of the kitchen and saw Michael held Sweety in his arms. Both of them stared at her.
“Sweety said she wants to go out and play. Otherwise, she will cry.”
“She wouldn’t cry.” Elena rolled her eyes at him. Sweety had never been a cry baby; she had always been a good girl. So, she did not expect to see Sweety pout and start to cry. “Play, play!”
Elena froze on the spot. Did he already spoil her daughter? Why would she cry so quickly?
Michael immediately softened his voice and gently said, “Don’t cry. We’ll go out and play, Mommy has agreed to it.”
Sweety sniffed and looked at Elena; her eyes were full of hope.
Elena was tempted to strangle the seemingly innocent man. He must have taught her daughter to throw a tantrum to get her way!
“You will spoil her rotten!” Elena frowned and stared at him.
“Sweety is such a great girl, and she wouldn’t turn rotten.” Michael lowered his head and kissed Sweety’s forehead. “So, yes or no?”
“Sweety good girl.” The communication the little girl had with her father was even more efficient than with her mother.
She had taken care of Sweety for more than a year, and she could not even handle her emotions in such an efficient way. How did Michael manage that?
They had a rapport together!
There was an old saying, ‘the daughter is the father’s lover in the past life’. Had that been true?
