Chapter 464 Saw His Past

Book:The Reborn Wife Published:2024-5-1

People said that one would often be blinded by obvious things when one cared too much. Had he not cared so much about her, he would have been able to tell that they had lied to him. It was obvious that Elena loved him, but he would rather believe that she had betrayed him. He had cared so much that he would not even allow a speck of dust in his eyes.
“That was not what I wanted. If I were given a choice, I would rather die than have you leave me just to keep me safe.”
That must have been Michael sincerest words that he had uttered in his lifetime.
“No one asked my opinion, so I didn’t even have a choice. A group of people cheated me.”
Elena’s heart ached for him, and she shook uncontrollably. She bit her lips, but she could not refute his statement. That was the truth; no one had asked what he had wanted. Everyone had done what they thought was the best decision for him. None of them had cared about his feelings. She tried to say she was sorry, but her words were stuck in her throat.
“We were both wrong. Why can’t we give each other another chance?”
He was the aloof Eldest Young Master WilLevis. He had never spoken so lowly to another person except for the woman in front of him. He had many ways to bring her back to his side; even some hard and strong means.
However, he was tired of his own oppressive personality. He had enjoyed their time together when she had stayed by his side willingly. There was no coercion, resistance, or disputes, and there was only warmth, harmony, and peace. He no longer wanted to force her anymore, but he could not let her go. Michael did not know what he could do to get her back.
Elena did not say anything either; she did not know what to say. Her heart ached so much that she could not utter a single word. Eldest Young Master WilLevis’s accusation was like a knife that was plunged deep into her chest.
Maybe he was right. Who had asked for his opinion? Everyone claimed to do things for his benefits, but no one cared to find out if that was what he wanted.
A few moments later, both of them eventually calmed down.
Elena raised her head to meet his gaze. “Let me go.”
“If I let go of you, would you run away?” he asked. Yet, he let go of his hand.
Elena could not answer the question. His body was still pressed on hers even if he let go of her hands.
Elena pushed his chest gently. “Get up.”
“I don’t want to get up.” The person whom he had missed for two years had finally returned to him. She was real, and they were so close together. How could he let go of her? Would she disappear once he got up?
“You are too heavy, and I’m uncomfortable.” He only let go of her hand, did that count?
He let go, but he did not get up. Michael lifted his body slightly so that she would have enough space to breathe, but he did not move away from her body. She had not seen him for two years, and he was still as overbearing as before. Elena was a little resentful as she was confused at their state.
Finally, she sighed in relief and said, “Don’t do this. No matter what had happened before, it’s all over now. Eldest Young Master WilLevis, I don’t want to think about the past. I am living very well now.”
She did not want to lie to herself. She had a soft spot for the man, but she could no longer accept him because she had Luacs. How could she be with another man right after Luacs left?
Elena pushed him again, and her voice became colder.
“If I was wrong before, then I’m sorry, okay? But, as I said, it’s all over now.”
He should carry on with his splendor lifestyle, and she was content with a quiet and plain life. She preferred not to be disturbed.
“Do you admit that it was your fault?” Michael raised his eyebrows. Something flashed through his profound gaze.
“Yes, I was wrong. Let go of me first.”
Elena thought that they should get away from the awkward position. However, Michael trapped her as soon as she admitted that it was her fault!
“Since you admitted that you were wrong, then you must be sorry, and you’ll have to pay the price!”
“Pay… a price?” Elena was taken aback. What had happened?
“Compensate me for what you owed me.” Michael was like a child—headstrong and stubborn.
“You teamed up with them to deceive me back then. Shouldn’t you make it up to me?”
Elena was unable to react. Was he not the one who had hurt her so badly that she could not even go home and had to go on the run? How was that her fault?
“Didn’t you admit your mistake just now?”
“I… I admitted that I was wrong, but…” She said that so he would let go of her.
Michael stood up, and he did let her go. However, Elena felt that things… might not seem to be that simple? She was right. What he said next sent her into a stupor.
“To make up for your fault, I will stay here for a few days and allow you to serve me.”
“What?” Did he want to live with her?
Elena immediately shook her head frantically. “No!”
If she let the big bad wolf into her home, it would be tough to get him to move out. She would never allow such a thing to happen! It was bound to be a Greek tragedy!
Michael ignored her and immediately called Levi. “Bring me my things. I’m going to stay at my woman’s place for a few days.”
“Michael, I said no!” Elena wanted to grab the phone, but Michael had already hung up the call.
“Lower your voice, the kid…”
Before Michael could finish his sentences, he frowned and was on high-alert. Elena felt uneasy. She had also heard movement from outside the room.
“Sweety must have woken up.” Michael managed to react faster than her, and so he got to the door before she did.
He thought that it was strange because he heard more than one set of footsteps outside. Was there someone else in the house?
“Don’t go out there!”
Elena could not stop him. Michael opened the door, and when he was about to hug Sweety, he saw another person with the little girl.
It was a strange sensation; he felt as if he had stared at himself—a Michael from the past.
The other small figure raised his head and looked at the tall man in front of him as if he had seen his future self. One big person and one tiny person—their sights collided and were inseparable.
Two seconds later, two voices were heard at the same time.
“Who are you?”
“Who are you?”
