Chapter 440 Wipe It All Out

Book:The Reborn Wife Published:2024-5-1

Elena put down her phone after she ended the call, and she continued to work. She wrote a detailed and precise proposal. Her figure looked thinner than usual under the room’s dimmed light. It was already dawn when she finally closed the file, turned off her laptop, and went to bed.
Everyone was busy for the next couple of days. Joseph seemed like he was overwhelmed, and the Garcia family’s second young master, Joseph, made repeated trips to the company. He heard that the people in the company were pleased with the trunk line projects. Even though Joseph had explained that the company would most likely suffer significant losses due to the projects, none of them would listen to him. Their faith in the projects was further cemented when Fifth Young Master Williams arrived at City L.
Williams Corporation must have had a genuine interest in the projects that they had sent Porter to oversee them. They also heard that Michael was in City L as well. Even though they were unsure if he was there for the projects, they were assured that the projects were legit. They had also seen him with Ava, so who would think that something was fishy about the projects?
As for the government policies that Joseph had mentioned to the shareholders, there were still no announcements, and so it sounded like a rumor. No one knew if the news were reliable. Those shareholders were also from the same social circle, and thus, they were accustomed to the endemic struggle of power within the affluent families.
Joseph had been removed from his position as the CEO of Garcia Corporation, and so it was only natural that he would be hostile toward Ava. It was probably a ploy to contest Ava’s claim on her inheritance.
Old Master Garcia had transferred all of his shares to Ava, and so it was evident who he trusted out of the two youngsters. Did Joseph want to plan a coup?
The shareholders thought that they should ally with the Garcia family’s real granddaughter so that Garcia Corporation would not fall to an outsider. None of them had forgotten that Joseph was not born with the surname Garcia.
“Fifth Young Master Williams, I am surprised to learn that you are the mastermind.”
After the dinner with shareholders, Ava had gone to Porter’s room. She did not expect the person who had been giving her orders was the Williams family’s fifth young master. She had seen him when she stayed at the Williams’s mansion. However, she had no idea that they were so intricately related, though Porter knew. Yet, he hid it so well. He had acted so brilliantly.
Porter said nothing to her. He picked up the wine glass and took a sip of red wine. Ava walked up to him and leaned on the chair to flaunt her perfect figure. She flicked her long hair and posed in front of him.
“There is no need to do that around me; you are nowhere as beautiful as Elena.”
“You—” Ava’s face changed.
What an offensive remark to hurl at a vital partner! She was no longer the Ava who had nothing. Why would he not look at her differently? Why did he still treat her like before? Ava’s face sank, and her chin tilted slightly. She had a proud and defiant look on her face.
“Fifth Young Master Williams, I have all Old Master Garcia’s shares in my hand. I am the richest woman in City L.” She was incredibly proud of that fact!
“Are you sure it’s your money?” Porter smiled disapprovingly.
“Are you worried that Old Master Garcia will sue me when he wakes up?” Ava sneered; she was not worried at all. “If he doesn’t care about Elena, then he can go ahead and sue me!”
She was confident that the old master cared about Elena. If exposed, Elena’s supposed scandal with her cousin would destroy her life! Old Master Garcia had always loved his family more important than anything else in the world. Would he sacrifice Elena? Would he dare to do that?
“You are confident.” Porter scoffed coldly.
“Of course, I am.” If the Garcia family wanted to acknowledge Elena’s identity, they would have done it already. Everyone in the Garcia family would sacrifice everything for their loved ones. How touching! They would even give up Garcia Corporation to protect Elena!
“You need not worry about me, Fifth Young Master Williams.”
She was still the richest woman in City L, and she did not think she was inferior in front of him.
However, even though she was the wealthiest woman in City L. Porter did not think of her as such. She was still stupid and proud, and she was still only his pawn.
“I’d advise you to stay low profile and don’t be too extravagant. And…”
His gaze sank as he lowered the glass in his hand. His fingers tightened slightly around the stem of the glass.
“If you want to keep your position forever, you must not leave any loose ends.”
“What do you mean?” Ava’s heart dropped as a cold fear set in. “You… Are you telling me to… kill the old master?”
“I said nothing as such. That’s your business.”
Porter was cautious so that he would not be blamed or incriminated. He shrugged and smiled dispassionately. “Anyway, if the old master gets better and sues you, you’re the one in trouble.”
Williams Corporation would not suffer any losses. The contract was signed, and they were not responsible for any problems. They might even be able to get a handsome sum of compensation if Garcia Corporation breached the contract.
“You…” Ava glared at him indignantly.
Was it not too much of him to cut ties with her? He only considered her as one of his people when she was useful. Was she supposed to stand on her own when he no longer needed her?
“What? Do you have any complaints?”
Porter laughed. He leaned back in his seat as he stared at her. He looked at her as if she was a joke.
” Ava, how much time and effort did I spend to help you here? Without my help, do you think you can become part of the Garcia family?”
Ava balled her fists, but she kept quiet. He was right. Without his strategies, she would never have climbed to that height. She could no longer turn back.
“Fifth Young Master Williams.” Ava calmed and softened her voice. “I know that I will always be working for you. I will do whatever you ask of me, and no, I don’t have any complaints.”
She paused for a moment before she continued. “You told me to come here at such late hours, is there something you’d like me to do, Fifth Young Master Williams?”
