” Ava, what do you want? Where is Grandfather Garcia?”
Elena’s fingers tightened around the phone. She sprang up from the chair as if she hoped that she could be in front of Ava right away.
“Why are you still calling him Grandfather Garcia? Shouldn’t you be calling him Grandfather already?” Ava smiled to herself. “Hadn’t Joseph told you that you are the Garcia family’s real granddaughter?”
“I’m not!” Elena squeezed the phone tightly as she walked out of the room while she was on the phone with Ava. She made her way toward Lottie’s study. The older woman was also on the phone; it was probably about the search for Old Master Garcia.
She did not know how much Joseph had told Lottie, but it was obvious that Lottie knew about her father’s disappearance.
” Ava, I took my hair and Grandfather Garcia’s hair and sent them for a DNA test. The result showed that I’m not his granddaughter.”
Elena had arrived at Lottie’s study when the older woman came out of the room. Elena immediately placed her finger on her lips and signaled her to stay silent.
Lottie frowned. She did not know what had happened, but she remained quiet.
Elena pointed to her mobile phone and continued her conversation. ” Ava, just like you, I am not the Garcia family’s granddaughter. It is pointless to look for me.”
Lottie squeezed her palms tightly. Joseph had not been clear when he explained things to her, but she correctly guessed it. Ava was not her niece. As for Elena, she was not concerned about that at that time. She was more worried that Ava and Sasha, her sister, had taken her father with them. Where was he?
” Ava, where are you hiding Grandfather Garcia? False imprisonment is illegal!”
Elena blinked desperately at Lottie, but the older woman had already sent a message to her assistant to tell them to trace the call. Her people immediately got to work after they replied to her message. Ava did not know what had happened, so she was happy with the situation.
“Why don’t you come out and meet me if you want to know? You will see your grandfather when you come over here.”
” Ava, I told you that he is not my grandfather! I did the test!”
“Idiot!” Ava dismissed her words. “You might have taken the test that proved you are not his granddaughter. That’s probably because the people around you had lied to you! It turns out that there are so many people who would want to deceive you. Look at your stupidity!”
“When the old master did the DNA test with me in Bentson, I had used your blood as the sample. The results of that test showed that you are related to each other. You are his granddaughter, indeed.”
” Ava, I said that I am not! You are the real granddaughter. You have been mistaken about it. Are you stupid?”
“Elena, you are the dumb one! You…”
Suddenly, Ava frowned. Something had alarmed her. “Elena, are you trying to stall to trace my location?”
When had the b*tch become so smart? However, it was a pity that she could not find out anything in such a short period!
“I will give you an hour to come to Fisherman Wharf by yourself. If you dare to bring someone else, don’t expect to see your grandfather ever again!”
” Ava, you…”
Then the line was cut off abruptly. Elena glanced at the phone screen to make sure that the Ava was no longer on the line before she looked at Lottie.
“She told me…” When she thought of Ava’s last warning, she decided not to mention the place.
“Eldest Madam Garcia, did your people find out Ava’s location?”
“I’ve got someone working on it.” However, it was not easy to trace the call in such a short time.
Even if they could trace it, Ava would have left that place already. However, everyone still wanted to try their best to find out.
“What did Ava tell you?” She did not miss the pause in Elena’s speech.
“She wants me to go somewhere.”
“Okay, I’ll go with you,” Lottie immediately said.
Elena looked at her; it was obvious that she was reluctant to say anything further.
” Ava told you to go alone?”
Lottie looked at her and grabbed her hand.
“You are our Garcia family’s granddaughter, aren’t you? You said that you were not just to put Ava on the line longer, right?”
“I…” Elena was not sure. She still needed another test to be sure.
She wanted to draw her hand back, but Lottie did not allow her to do that!
“Eldest Madam Garcia…”
“I am your aunt!”
When Lottie said the word ‘aunt’, Elena almost choked from the tears that had welled in her eyes. Lottie had said that she was her aunt. She had treated Elena as part of the family.
“Actually, I did think that you looked so similar to Talia; you are much more like her than Ava.”
That was the feeling she had when she saw Elena for the first time. However, everyone was blinded by the so-called ‘fact’ at that time. The fact was that Ava and the old master did a DNA test, and the result showed that they were biologically related. No one thought that someone else could have tampered with the results.
“You don’t need to think about anything for now. Let’s get Dad back first, and then we can talk about it.”
Lottie held Elena’s hand tightly, and the heat from her palm warmed Elena’s heart.
“No matter what, I will face Ava with you. I will not let you take the risk alone!”
Elena bit her lips, nodded, and said nothing more. Lottie wanted to say something, but the ringing from her phone interrupted her.
She immediately picked up the call. “Yes?”
“We’re unable to track the location; the time was too short.”
Lottie had no other way, so she turned to look at Elena. “Where did Ava say that she wanted you to go?”
“Steveston Wharf, she…” Elena hesitated before she continued to say, “She asked me to arrive at seven tomorrow morning, and I can’t take anyone with me.”
“Okay, I’ll go with you at seven tomorrow.”
“Hmm.” Elena nodded in agreement. Although Lottie was anxious, she had no other solution.
“Did Ava say anything else? Did she say that she needs anything?”
“She didn’t say anything else. She only wanted me to go alone.”
“What the h*ll does she want?” Lottie could not get it. Why did it sound as if she wanted revenge? How much hatred did the two sisters have between them? Besides, it was Ava who took Elena’s position. If there was hatred, it should be Elena who hated Ava. Why would Ava seek revenge on Elena?
Elena shook her head; she did not know either.
Then Lottie said, “Don’t be afraid. Go and have an early rest. I will go with you tomorrow morning!”
“Okay.”
Elena turned around and walked toward her room. Lottie waited until Elena entered her room and closed the door behind her before she took out her mobile phone and dialed her assistant’s number.
“Elena and I will go to Steveston Wharf tomorrow morning. Ava had asked Elena to meet her there… No, I don’t know what she wants. Take some people with you and check out the place. You must not let the other party find out. Otherwise, my dad will be in grave danger!”
