Joseph and her?!
Elena stared at the pregnancy test report on her phone and almost fainted.
The car had pulled into the Garcia family’s parking garage, and Joseph immediately grabbed the cell phone from her.
At first glance, it really did look like Elena’s pregnancy report.
His face sank, and he dialed a number on the phone while they were still in the car, “What happened? Didn’t you change the medical records to show gastroenteritis?”
“I had it changed to gastroenteritis, Eldest Young Master. That’s a fake pregnancy report. Look at it closely.”
His assistant had obviously seen the same headline and was about to Joseph. He did not expect his boss to reach out to him first.
“Fake?” Joseph frowned and looked to Elena. “Where’s your report?”
“It’s with me.” Elena replied, and then she immediately rummaged through her bag to retrieve the medical report. She had wanted to destroy it, but she had not found the time to do so.
They compared it to the report on Elena’s cell phone. It was fake! It was a completely different report!
It might have looked similar on the surface, even the time of the visit, and the payment account was also the same. However, the data was different!
They had faked the data in the report! In other words, the story had been fabricated.
“Have our men investigate the Weibo account that posted this.”
“Eldest Young Master, I have investigated it. The account belongs to an entertainment celebrity, but she said that she did not post this. Her account might have been hacked.”
Joseph clenched his fists. The matter had exploded.
“Eldest Young Master, Ava and Eldest Young Master Williams are still shopping. Should we continue to follow them?” his assistant asked.
“Yes, continue with following them.” Joseph hung up the call and then got out of the car.
“Elena, let’s get you home for a rest.”
“No, Brother Joseph. You are hiding something from me.”
Elena also got out of the car. However, she felt breathless. It was as if there was a pressure that weighed her down.
“Could you not tell me what had happened?” It was worse to let her imagination run wild.
She continued to stare at him before she solemnly said, ” Ava went to see you, didn’t she?”
“Elena, I would never collude with Ava. You don’t have to suspect me.”
“I’m not suspecting you. I’m just afraid that Ava would try to deceive you again.”
Elena pondered for a while, and she suddenly frowned. “Why did you ask about an injury I had from a month ago this morning?”
Her mind had connected all the dots. A month ago, she had been hurt in an accident at the university. A month ago, Old Master Garcia had arrived in Bentson to look for his biological granddaughter. A month ago, Ava, who was obviously not Old Master Garcia’s granddaughter, was able to get a positive match with Old Master Garcia in a genetic test!
Could it be…
“But that’s impossible. I’ve done the same test. That’s impossible!”
Elena shook her head and grabbed his hand. “It’s impossible…”
Joseph knew that the girl was smart. She would not have any problems with deductions. He could no longer keep it hidden from her.
“Yes, she came to see me. She told me that when Grandfather went to Bentson to do the test with her, she used your blood instead.”
“Mine?” It was just as she had concluded!
However, that could not be!
“I also did the test…”
“Is it possible that someone had lied to you?”
“Impossible! Caleb would never lie to me. Unless…”
The more Elena considered the possibilities, the colder her heart grew.
“I placed our hair samples at the hotel’s front desk. Caleb was to pick it up as soon as I left.” Her heart raced as she looked at Joseph.
“Caleb would never lie to me. Unless the hair samples collected from Grandfather Garcia and I were…switched at the front desk.”
However, who was also there at the same time?
There was only Michael!
The person most likely to have orchestrated all that was Michael.
Why? Why would he help Ava to do that to her?
No, it could not have been Michael. Perhaps…it was Ava again…
“When was this?”
“Yesterday.”
“It could not have been Ava. She had exhausted her brain to plot her injury scheme. Would she still have the capacity to manage this?”
Joseph was not ignorant of Ava’s pretentious character. However, just like his Grandfather, he did not expose it due to Ava’s status.
His grandfather had stated that the company would belong to his uncle’s daughter.
If he were to expose Ava’s penchant of playing the ‘victim’, people would think that he did it on purpose and wanted to compete for her inheritance.
He had no intention to compete with Ava for anything.
Therefore, even though both he and the old master saw through Ava’s plans, they were unwilling to expose it.
“Besides, Ava did not know Michael was coming to City L. She was genuinely surprised to see him last night. She was not acting.”
He could see that much. Joseph stared at his cousin. He knew that it was not something he should say. Nevertheless, he would have to say it.
“Are you…trying to protect Michael?”
Joseph had admired the man. People of talent were often drawn to one another. However, when he knew about his relationship with Elena, he had lost respect for the man.
Furthermore, it seemed likely that Michael had colluded with Ava. He would never allow them to endanger the Garcia family in any way!
“Elena, first, we need to find Grandfather. Then I will personally take both of you to get another genetic test done.”
“Are you going to tell him everything?” Would Old Master Garcia go mad when he learned about the truth?
“No, Grandfather has heart disease. I can’t tell him right now. Not without solid proof.”
“You mean you want to get another genetic test done?”
Elena had begun to suspect that the hair samples taken by Caleb might have been swapped.
If she were Old Master Garcia’s biological granddaughter… Suddenly, her heart felt as if something had smashed against it.
“What do we do? Everyone saw us in bed last night. Grandfather also told the reporters those things this morning…”
How did the situation turn that complicated?
What if she was the Garcia family’s biological granddaughter? What would Old Master Garcia think about that? How would their relationship change? Could they handle the media frenzy?
More importantly, a scandal like that would affect the investors’ confidence toward Garcia Corporation. It might even affect their share prices!
What a terrible conspiracy! The situation had taken a turn for the worse in only one night!
“Don’t worry. There must be a way to sort things out. Things will get better.”
Joseph took her hand and led her toward the main hall.
“First, we have to find Grandfather and get a genetic test done as soon as possible. Do not reveal your true relationship with Grandfather to anyone until we get a definitive result. I’m not sure if his heart could take the stress!
