Chapter 409 The Most Common Of Acts Between Lovers

Book:The Reborn Wife Published:2024-5-1

Pregnant.
Elena almost collapsed the moment she got the report!
Joseph had the report in his hand, and he looked confused.
No wonder the doctor had looked at them so lovingly and referred them to the obstetrics and gynecology department.
He learned that when a girl threw up, it was because she was pregnant! They had portrayed it correctly on the television!
He was sure that she had food poisoning.
Elena was not sure how she would process the information. She was pregnant! What was she supposed to do?
She turned to walk out of the hospital.
Joseph trailed behind her as he gently pulled her hand. “Don’t run. You are… You have to be careful from now on.”
“I’m fine.” She did not want to stay there for a moment longer.
“Elena…” Joseph hesitated. He had questions about her condition, but he dared not ask.
It was apparent that she was not in a good mood. It seemed as though she did not want the pregnancy.
The child’s father, however…
“It’s Eldest Young Master Williams’s.” Even if she did not tell him, she knew Joseph would get someone to investigate.
Therefore, why should she bother to hide it then?
Elena broke free from his grasp, walked toward the stairwell, and sat down on the step. Her entire body was cold.
“Don’t sit there; the floor must be icy. You’ll catch a cold.”
She did not listen to him.
Joseph supported her shoulders and helped her to her feet. “Elena, let’s talk about this in the car, okay?”
Elena was at a loss, but finally, with his help, they arrived at the parking garage and got into his car.
“What is your relationship with Eldest Young Master Williams?” As far as he knew, Michael was still with Ava.
“Is he using you?”
It was a hurtful thing to say, but he wanted to be sure as Elena was pregnant.
Elena was part of his family, and he would not allow any men to bully her!
“I don’t know. I don’t want to talk about it, Brother Joseph. I will never be with him. It’s that simple.”
“What about the child?” Joseph did not want her to feel uncomfortable, but they could not avoid the matter.
How could Michael be with Elena if he was still tangled with Ava? How could he allow such a man with his little cousin?
“Do you want the child?”
“I do!” Elena was a little emotional!
She put her arms in front of her stomach as if he wanted to protect it from invisible attackers.
“I want the child. I want…the child.”
However, what right did she have to want the child? How much pressure would the child suffer to be born to an unmarried woman?
She had already lost one child. Her little angel had finally returned to her; she would never allow her child to leave her again.
“I don’t know what to do, Brother Joseph. I’m sorry, please give me time to calm down.”
“Even if you calmed, what would you do?”
It was not something that time could solve.
“Do you like Michael?” Joseph stared at her thoughtfully as if he did not want her to hide anything from him.
Elena lowered her gaze. It did not matter if she liked him or not. What difference would it make? Michael would not want her anymore.
They had reverted to the most basic of relationships—contractual one.
Did he not make his intentions clear the previous night? Ava was the one he wanted
“What kind of woman do you think a man like Eldest Young Master Williams would choose as his partner?”
She smiled lightly. No, it was a bitter smile—an extremely helpless smile.
“What difference would it make whether I like him or not?”
“What if you were the Garcia family’s granddaughter?”
“If Eldest Young Master Williams wants to be with me because of my identity, should I still look forward to this relationship?
Joseph could not refute her words.
For a businessman, women were often not as important as a project. Marriage, most of the time, was only for the benefit of both parties.
If Michael were to marry the Garcia family’s granddaughter, it would greatly benefit both families.
However, the husband and wife might not be as excited to look forward to a lifetime together. Elena, in particular, valued feelings more than benefits.
Children from wealthy families were taught that love was a mistake, and they should not believe in it. A person like Michael would have been educated to treat his feelings like sh*t from the start. He would never love a woman with sincerity.
It would not have mattered whether it was Elena or Ava.
Joseph remained silent. He held Elena’s hand, but he did not know how to comfort her.
“Brother Joseph, I do not wish for anyone to know about this.”
Elena tugged at his sleeves and pleaded, “Please don’t tell anyone. Especially Michael.”
“But, your stomach would…”
Joseph’s gaze shifted to her belly, and Elena understood what he meant.
It would be hard to conceal the pregnancy. As her stomach grew bigger, everyone would soon notice it.
She rested her hand once again on her stomach and stroked it gently. Her little angel had returned to her so soon. Neither her body nor the situation had allowed it to happen previously, and she had lost the baby.
Her body was healthy for her new baby, but its baby had abandoned them…
“I need some time to think about our future.”
“Elena, actually…”
Joseph looked down and stared at her belly. There were some words that he wanted to tell her, but he had to refrain himself.
He needed a little more time. It was not too late to tell her as soon as he had more information and obtained the lab report.
His phone rang again, and he answered, “How did it go? Did you get it?”
His assistant sounded anxious on the other end of the phone. “The old master was not at home. Even Butler Milo did not know where he went.”
“Not at home? Has he not returned?” Joseph frowned.
His grandfather and aunt had gone out together that morning. They should have returned home by then.
“They did return home, but it seems like they had gone out again. They did not even bring Butler Milo along with them.”
“Send some men to find them immediately!”
He dialed another number as soon as he hung up. “Anything unusual with Ava?”
“No. She is still looking at jewelry with Eldest Young Master Williams.”
Even though he was not on speakerphone, it was so quiet inside the car that Elena could clearly hear the conversation.
Eldest Young Master Williams and Ava were at a jewelry store.
Her heart grew even colder.
Joseph hung up the phone after he told his men to keep an eye out on them.
He was about to call Butler Milo, but he felt the gloomy stare of the girl in the passenger seat.
He did not know how to comfort her.
A visit to the jewelry store was an act between lovers.
Lovers…
“Perhaps he was only attracted to Ava’s status. It doesn’t mean that he likes Ava as a person.”
“What difference does it make?” Elena leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes. “I’m feeling a little tired, Brother Joseph. I want to go back and rest.”
Joseph still had so much to say about the matter. However, at that point, he would not be able to alleviate her frustrations.
Whosoever hung the bell on the tiger’s neck must be the one to untie it. He was not Michael, and therefore, he would not be able to help her.
However, he was afraid that Michael had no intention to soothe her.
“Alright, I’ll take you home.”
He also had to rush home to find out what had happened to his Grandfather.
As the car pulled out of the hospital parking garage, a crowd unexpectedly blocked their vehicle.
